I mistook him for a doorman back in the 90s in Edinburgh and asked him where the toilets were. He totally took it in his stride and pointed me where to go. Still remember his half smirk when I was shouting to my pal “I thought cracker was a bouncer!”

it was during the festival and I’m not sure if he had a show on or something but he was all done up in a white shirt and black suit with an earpiece like a doorman would have standing around in the entrance with his hands behind his back. I was about 14/15 so it wasn’t till he looked down at me I realised 😆

It sounds like he had it coming all dressed up like that! It reminds me of when we saw Paul Merton standing outside the loos at a comedy night..can't remember where but may have been Edinburgh. He was trying hard not to be recognised and looked angry when I pointed towards him and whispered to my friend! But if you don't want to be recognised, don't stand right outside the bogs!

He was really sexy as Cracker. I find the the Hillsborough one a very tough watch as DCI Bilborough's death is so harrowing. Such an incredible series. Must dig out the DVDs.

Tbh Paul Merton at a comedy gig in the 90s is getting recognised anywhere there. He should get over it

Mogginsthemog · 15/10/2022 11:28

V sad news. Didn't think he looked well in the Harry Potter films tribute thing, but it really came across that he loved playing Hagrid and really appreciate his role in the HP world (in contrast to some of his colleagues).

EsmeGythaMagrat · 15/10/2022 12:10

Such a sad loss. I loved him in pretty much anything I watched him in hut soecial mentions to Cracker and Nuns on the Run
Spectacles
Testicles
Wallet and Watch. 😂😂

Floogal · 15/10/2022 12:51

His portrayal of a tough yet well meaning social worker in Alive and kicking was criminally underated

watching Cracker as a personal tribute, amazing cast list of actors, I have to have IMDb open to check them out. But a bit of a puzzle, which - mother Mary and the little donkey - I can’t fathom, why is Adrian Dunbar speaking with an English accent, I know his character has amnesia, but think this is taking it a step too far.
