Awww, how sad. 😢 Lovely man, amazing actor, and in SO much good stuff. CRACKER was EPIC! He was so good in that! And he was funny The Young Ones, and also Blackadder. And obviously, he was amazing in Harry Potter 'I shouldna told ya thaaat....' 😘

@NashvilleQueen

Loved him in Cracker. He gave the overweight, chain smoking, whisky drinking, gambling, smart arse genius massive sex appeal. With any other actor you wouldn't have bought that women really fancied him but it totally worked. A sad loss.

What a GREAT description of that character! Smile Spot on. I have the box set of all the seasons of Cracker. Gonna go get it, and watch it. Haven't seen it for about a decade. It was amazing!

the80sweregreat · 14/10/2022 19:25

Nuns on the run was bonkers , but fun
Tutti fruiti was brilliant

CheshireDing · 14/10/2022 19:28

So sad. I don’t think of him for Harry Potter as I have never watched the films. For me he is Cracker

i used to watch for a local newspaper and they came and used our offices for the police station set at one point. Many decades ago but I still remember the buzz

Very sad Loved Tutti Frutti and his role as Samuel Johnson in Blackadder

Glad other people remember Tutti Frutti, great series and fab soundtrack.

diddl · 14/10/2022 19:53

Gosh-no age at all.

Loved Cracker-RC, Christopher Eccleston, Robert Carlyle, Lorcan Cranitch.

Tough watch!

logana · 14/10/2022 19:54

I absolutely loved Tutti Frutti. Would love to see it again. May he RIP. I think he'd been unwell for some time. My thoughts are with his family.

medianewbie · 14/10/2022 19:55

Fine actor. Great in HP of course but very very good in Cracker too.

Have to disagree! Whilst it's sad he has gone, 72 is hardly 'no age at all.' Confused

So sad, as others are saying, 72 is no age these days. Loved him in tutti frutti and as Hagrid, need to check out Cracker.
RIP Robbie 😢

Depends how old you are. It doesn’t feel very old to me.

So sad, he was such an amazing actor.

Grumpycatsmum · 14/10/2022 20:06

Very sad news. Totally loved him in Tutti Frutti. I think part of my attraction to my DP was his similarity to Robbie Coltrane (v. funny, big Scotsman).

Iamnotminterested · 14/10/2022 20:12

Had forgotten about his sublime role as Dr Johnson in Blackadder; such a versatile actor, and his passing is very sad.

Notplayingball · 14/10/2022 20:12

Incredibly sad news. Just read about it earlier.

Picoloangel · 14/10/2022 20:13

So sad. Loved Cracker and have been meaning to rewatch it for ages. Fabulous as Hagrid too. Met him in many moons ago when he was filming on my home town. He was lovely, so warm and funny and scrounging cigarettes from me and my sisters.

Saw him again a few years back at Mahon airport in Menorca of all places. He didn’t look to be in great health.

Genuinely sad. He was a great talent and on my limited knowledge of him a really
lovely man.

AdoraBell · 14/10/2022 20:15

😢 RIP Robbie, fantastic actor.

OoooohMatron · 14/10/2022 20:18

To Be Someone, hard hitting and probably the best Cracker episode ever, remember discussing it at work the following day .

I'd forgotten he was Daphne's brother in Frazier.

Certainly going to be missed RIP

CarefreeMe · 14/10/2022 20:23

So sad.

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 14/10/2022 20:24

@TurmericFan 😂😂 I'd like to think that Robbie would have found that funny.

BattenburgSlice · 14/10/2022 20:28

so sad, top actor 😢
loved him in black adder 3 ….Sausage!!!!

Suetwo · 14/10/2022 20:29

Such a shame. Cracker was brilliant. Probably the best British cop show ever made. Really underrated. Cracker is the only British crime thriller I’d put up against the great scandi ones.

diddl · 14/10/2022 20:30

It's barely past retirement!

Madcats · 14/10/2022 20:35

We're definitely planning to dig out a Cracker DVD and perhaps have a dram in celebration of the way he took us through from crime/comedy/Bond/HP.
