Newspaper reports as scathing as ever, and The Times suggesting Tories are lining up Sunak and Mordaunt as a duo.

can’t stand the woman but surely she’ll hold on for a bit longer - everyone was saying Boris would go much earlier than he did. And why on earth did they vote her into power in the first place 🙄

Graham Brady back from holidays on Monday....

His letterbox is full and has become a fire hazard apparently.

It’s immaterial now. Hunt’s effectively PM and she’s doing as she’s told.

I think that's accurate

Buk · 15/10/2022 18:59

She Has done so much damage to the economy I really hope she fucks off and is never seen in Parliament again. My brother who is due to take his pension next year has seen 7% wiped off the value since the budget!

Let's bloody hope so!

What do you mean "they'd be"? I think they are already ruined.

Some people here being very unfair to mince and decks of cards.

Yes to be fair mince can be very useful and versatile, cottage pie/chilli/spag bol. I make sure I've always got some in the freezer.

Like many things, who is popular with the electorate and who is popular with the party are two wildly different things. Her main attraction to the vast majority of Conservative Party members was that she wasn't Rishi Sunak - that's it.

Yep.
Party members would have De Pfeffle back in a heartbeat.

Much more crazy is the fact that Liz Truss moaned about her secondary school and the area she lived in as a teen and the lack of ambition etc etc but those years she was talking about were under a conservative government

Just looked at the council situation - what a surprise:

June 2000
The government will today announce the biggest privatisation yet of a failing education authority, when Leeds becomes the latest Labour council to lose control of its school services following a damning inspection report.

The need for intervention in Leeds was signalled by ministers in February, following publication of a highly critical report by the Office for Standards in Education, which the chief inspector of schools, Chris Woodhead, admitted was "serious and shocking".

In Leeds, continual political interference by Labour councillors was singled out by both the Ofsted report and Mr Woodhead.

Ofsted identified weak leadership in Leeds in the past [Liz Truss left Roundhay in 1993] as the main reason for the "parlous state" of the authority. Leeds council was unable to recruit an education director for four years, it claimed, partly because of perceptions of political interference.

In addition, a catalogue of weaknesses, particularly at secondary school level, included failure to monitor the progress of schools or to support those causing concern.

Dearest @Clavinova , are you OK? Because a C&P piece from 22 years ago is stretching the boundaries of relevance, even for you.

It's all over Twitter. I kind of think Boris was hoping this would happen.

They chose not to windfall tax the energy companies and borrow instead

Labour keeps repeating misleading claim on energy windfall tax

In fact, Boris Johnson’s government introduced a windfall tax on energy producers in May this year.

Frankly if the Conservative party have nothing better to offer than a pair of incompetent liars then they need to step down and let someone else have a go.

pointythings · 15/10/2022 19:29
  1. the UK windfall tax is lower than the one set by the EU.
  2. The UK has levied a windfall tax on renewables, which sends out entirely the wrong message.

Just about to say something similar. You are the mistress of whataboutery which you probably know which is a sure sign of losing a debate.

The economy isn't tanked. To suggest it can be "tanked" simply reveals your utter triviality.

The markets, the IMF and most Tory MPs disagree with you. I suppose they’re trivial too.

Isn't the whole point of Growth, Growth, Goveth that the economy has tanked?
So even the Prime Minister and her many Chancellors accept that much?

@Clavinova Do you have a view on this?

"FANCY FAIR. A fancy fair was held in the Castle Grounds on Wednesday in connection with the Girls' High School, the object being to provide a library and art room for the School. The weather was charmingly fine, and the gay little stalls arranged round the grounds, together with the lady attendants in fancy dresses and the beautiful surroundings, made a very charming picture. Miss Disney, the Head Mistress of the School, the Assistant Mistresses, and the Pupils generally, devoted themselves to the work, and were assisted by outside friends in their somewhat ambitious but successful venture. The stalls were -- Flowers and work, attended by Pupils dressed as flower girls; Fancy Work, by Shepherdesses; Bonbons, by Norwegian Peasants; Art, Greek Costume; Livestock, by Milkmaids; Dolls, by Miss Smith Dorrien; and Refreshment Stalls attended by Mrs and the Misses Granville, Miss Barclay, and Miss Streetfield. The dresses of the stall holders formed a prominent feature."

@Clavinova Why was Jacob Rees Mogg on the radio this week saying there wasn't a windfall tax? Is he the Labour you are refering to?
Is he part of the blob or the anti growth coalition?
