To ask about oodies?

Both kids want an oodie for Christmas but honestly I'm not sure I can justify the cost- are they really worth it? Can anyone recommend a cheaper brand?

I bought a snug-rug eskimo from Amazon and it is so warm.

Just bought one for my DS
They are reduced on the site at the moment and using code ENERGYSAVERS( generic)
I paid £49

We have kuddlys, which are great but they don't have many designs to choose from.

I have seen a real life oodie and it was no warmer or thicker than an amazon purchase my friend had.

However the primark and dunelm ones are nowhere near as thick, most only have one layer of the teddy bear fluff.

So whilst I wouldn't buy an oodie I wouldn't buy the primark or dunelm either.

I bought my daughter the amazon one but its now not the same, the supplier must have changed! So still on the hunt.... but they are out there!

I have a cheap version from Amazon and it's brilliant. I'm not convinced I need to pay 3 x the price for an Oodie.

I have an Oodie and just bought DS a Spider-Man version from Primark.

There’s no comparison- there’s only one layer of fleece in the Primark version. Oodies are obviously more expensive, but if the item isn’t warm enough then it defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place if you’re having to put the heat on anyway.

An alternative is a heated throw- I recently got one to wrap around myself when I’m working from home and it’s incredible- costs like 2p an hour to run.

Yes but get the ones primark do.

They are amazing me and DC have one each and they keep us so warm don't need the heating on at all.

I’ve got the Amazon version. Live in it in the winter. However often I have to take it off shortly after putting it as I end up too hot. Not sure I would want a warmer version

After some in-depth research, I just bought 4 Kuddlys for 109 quid from the Kuddly website with voucher code BNDL. 27.25 each when buying 4 of them.

My SIL also recommends this one from Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08KW15PJP/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_X5H0E183WVQSNQQ5BEWF_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp%3Bpsc=1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

I went with Kuddly because of the good reviews and the price with the discount voucher. Trying to defer using heating oil for as long as possible.

Kuddly often have discount codes and are very similar to the oodies, they just don't have as many designs to choose from.

I have an oodie and a kuddly. I prefer the kuddly as it's longer.

I bought four as Christmas presents on Saturday - four for £109. The offer on the site is four for £139 but I checked back throughout the day and got the £109 offer.

Mine was £22 from amazon and its brilliant, very slightly smaller than a genuine oodie but it has washed well and is really warm. I couldn't justify the expense of an oodie.

We are a Kudd.ly family and they are brilliant. Really cosy and warm and a big bigger that the other competitors. I wear my at my desk and have also fallen asleep in it on really cold evenings.

I have one and I love it but they are very expensive - my thinking was I’d wear my Oodie during winter and not have to put the heating on.

They do often have sales on but I’d recommend waiting until Black Friday and waiting to see what offers they have on then.

The Comfy is brilliant. I've got one & bought them for all my (older teens) kids. Wash well. So warm & cosy.
Available from Costco.

We have a couple of Comfy ones from Costco. I don't have an Oodie to compare
to but these are so soft and cozy and wash well 👍🏼 it's literally like wearing a sleeping bag :)

I haven't tried any cheaper replacements so can't comment on that front, but I pretty much live in my Oodie so definitely think they're worth the money

Agree with @CoffeeBeansGalore , my Dniece and Dnephew have both a Oodie and The Comfy and neither can tell the difference.

@thunderandsunshine01 I just put mine in the washing machine , what are you doing that makes yours a "Nightmare to wash" ?

I got one from Amazon last year but can’t remember what brand it was. It’s much thicker than the primark ones but maybe not quite as thick as an oodie. It’s really warm though! I’m always stingy with my heating and this saw me through last winter nice and toasty.
I’m 5’8 and it reaches my knees.

I haven't got an oodie but I did get a cheaper version from Amazon. It's great and comes down to my ankles and I'm 5"7".

@LilacPoppy I also put mine in the washing machine 🙄… What I mean is that I don’t feel like the inside fluffy material, which is similar to the teddy feel blankets you can buy from Dunelm, is ever the same softness once it has been through the wash. It sort of flattens the fibres? Not sure how to explain it. I wash per the instructions.
Also, they are mahoosive and I can only fit 2 in our washing machine drum at a time. Obviously they are very warm so with sweat etc I would like to wash weekly, but it’s a pain to wash 2 full cycles on the machine just for 2 Oodies and 1 Comfy. It’s something to be considered IMO. Don’t get me started on the drying time either, as we don’t run out tumble due to the £££

I just bought the four for £109 Kuddly offer. Hopefully my kids will like them!
