To ask about oodies?

Both kids want an oodie for Christmas but honestly I'm not sure I can justify the cost- are they really worth it? Can anyone recommend a cheaper brand?

We have two Sienna’s bought approx 1-2 months ago, plus an Oodie that is about a month old. The Oodie is way thicker and better quality generally. But there is a massive price difference.

Branding is powerful and people are easily taken in by it.

I have a primar one and it’s fantastic. There is absolutely no way that a branded one is 3/4 times better. But psychology is powerful innit.

MayThe4th · 15/10/2022 19:17

*primark.

mycatisannoying · 15/10/2022 19:24

@AmuckAmuckAmuck

We have two Siennas, bought about a year ago.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it! I thought it was great too until I got an actual Oodie. And I would continue to wear my Sienna in the less chilly months.

And it's nothing to do with being taken in by branding. That's not me, as I only ever buy what's on offer with zero brand loyalty. It's about actually comparing the products. And there's really no comparison.
I have bought my kids the Kudd.ly for Christmas though - again, because I got a cracking deal (on here!), so I hope they're just as good.

Chesure · 15/10/2022 19:43

They are the absolute best thing in the world. We tried several cheaper brands as Oodies were too big for them and nothing was close to being as good. We got the 2 pack deal which makes them more affordable. Go for it!

Cosmos123 · 15/10/2022 19:52

Wait for offers.

We got kuddly ones worked out £22 each.
We did a joint purchase with neighbours and friends. Bought about 5.

Cw112 · 15/10/2022 21:51

I'm wearing mine right now, it is so cozy and really nice in cold weather. The primark ones are lovely and a bit lighter. I'm 5ft9 and it goes down to my knees and it's huge width wise like wearing a big blanket. I personally feel it was worth the money but primark one is just as good if you want something slightly cooler.

Thank you, I did this and they refunded the difference!

I did too- really pleased with the customer service.

As I said before, I have oodies and kuddlys. I already slightly preferred the kuddly. The amazing customer service definitely pushes them way way ahead.

cakewench · 15/10/2022 22:27

After seeing various cheaper versions on friends and hearing their feedback, I decided to spring for the real oodie. I wasn’t interested in something to wear while trying to do other things, I wanted it purely for evenings on the sofa relaxing.

It’s extremely warm. I usually am pathetic about being cold but I haven’t been cold at all since having it. It’s like twice the size/weight of the knockoffs, as well as being longer.

Fwiw I don’t rate their customer service (there’s a stitching issue I reported and I ended up in a fruitless discussion with one of their inanely-named “cuddle consultants “ , I ended up just keeping it because he never did help and I just wanted to get on with using it. Their quality control shouldn’t have let it through, though, especially at the price they are charging!) so if people are saying the cudd.ly brand is just as good, maybe give them a go.

Lockeddownagain · 15/10/2022 23:34

I got us them last winter from some online shop. They are not glamorous but they are think and warm and are saving us money. Santa brought a minecraft one from amazon last year and its still going strong

Crazymadchickenlady · 20/10/2022 21:38

Our Kuddlys have arrived and they are great. Lovely and warm.

Doidontimmm · 20/10/2022 21:54

Does anyone know anywhere I can get one for an 18month old?

Try a frugi snuggle suit or something like that. The oodies are going to get in the way of climbing

I've got the Hoodie Blanket Ultra Soft Sherpa Fleece from Amazon, only £22 and super warm and comfy. Love the front pocket, it warms up cold hands really quickly.

Sorry looked through all my emails and there is no new code there for Oodies (Just pillows and the fluffy boots). They will probably do a Black Friday offer so I’d maybe wait for that.

Hankunamatata · 05/11/2022 12:51

I brought 2 adult ones for my 9 and 11 yr old. Got them on offer but still waiting for them to be dispatched.

YellowTreeHouse · 05/11/2022 12:57

@Hankunamatata you “bought” them, not “brought” them.

She'll rest easy, now that you've made this valuable contribution to the thread.

M and s oversize hoodie are fab. And £18. Trying to keep them out of sight until Xmas

Murdoch1949 · 05/11/2022 19:20

M&S discounted theirs to £10 last year, they're brilliant.

Hesma · 05/11/2022 21:01

We have kuddly in my house and they are awesome. Buy adult sizes… my DDs (12&9) both have adult ones and love them

Namechange192727171 · 05/11/2022 21:06

Kuddly ones are much better than the oodies.

Ooh, fighting talk right there Grin
I'm sitting in my chilly Georgian basement flat (in Scotland!) with my Oodie on and the heating off. I feel warm enough.
My sister is getting me the Kuddly for Christmas and I can't wait to compare! My Oodie is one of the best things I've ever bought, but the drying of it can be a pain. The main fleecy body of it not so much, but certainly the cuffs.
