To ask about oodies?

Both kids want an oodie for Christmas but honestly I'm not sure I can justify the cost- are they really worth it? Can anyone recommend a cheaper brand?

I don't get the fuss over them. Just wear a jumper.

Someone please explain what is so great about them??

Also no matter how warm my body is, my hands and nose are freezing. The oodie can't warm them.

Love my kuddly, we don't wash them as often as we pop them over whatever we've been wearing all day so don't get sweaty ? More need washing as teenager spills his tea down them !

Kuddly don't appear to do ones for younger kids?

@thunderandsunshine01 msybe it's the temperature. I wash mine at 30 for 30 min wash and then give and then an extra spin. It's important not to use fabric softener. I don't tumble dry you aren't supposed to. I only wash them a couple of times a year though. They are worn for six months of the year so after 3 months of wear.

I think I've been convinced to get the actual oodies! They are outside at night for a few minutes (going from the house to car back into a house- due to working hours) so it'll keep them snuggly- especially as they have baths at their grandparents before coming home for the night.

I've heard they've been a bit mixed on delivery last year but hoping those issues have been sorted?

Get an adult one for your ds they say child is up to age 13 but not if they are tall. They fit my six year old in comparison.

I have one from Wowcher. It's Sherpa fleece lined and it's washed well. Still feels brand new a year old

In our house we a range of them - Sienna/Amazon, Primark and a genuine Oodie. The Sienna (was £12.99) is the thinest and feels the cheapest but it’s still good and warm. I don’t expect it to last long though as it has a hole in the (unused) pocket already, some loose threads and is only a few weeks old. But it is warm. The kids Primark one (£18) is pretty thick and feels better made. However it is about 18 months old and I do think it’s thicker than the ones they are selling in Primark currently. The kids Oodie is much thicker than the others, nicer material, nicer lining and better stitching. But way, way more expensive. The Oodie is a nice gift. I don’t think you can really compare a cheap Amazon product to an Oodie.

I gave mine away to my sister. I couldn't get on with pulling them on, and pulling them over my head when I got too warm. Much prefer to be able to use a zip. They are warm and cosy though, too warm hence getting tangled up in a knot taking it off when I have other layers underneath!

I got one on Amazon with a zip, not branded or anything. That works very well for me.

Forgot to mention, I’m 5’4 and the child Oodie fits me as a normal sized hoodie 😄

Just bought one for my DS
They are reduced on the site at the moment and using code ENERGYSAVERS( generic)
I paid £49

Yes, I bought some (in bundle deals) and I think they worked out at £49.00 each. I even have one for myself but haven't worn it yet.

I started a recent thread about washing them. Drying instructions say to dry flat but I've line and tumble dried just fine.

I have a Kuddly which is the same as an Oodie, they currently have 70% off if you order 3 items. I also have the Primark version which is nowhere near as warm.

2 years ago I bought DD an Oodie. Last year I got her this one which cost less than £20. She hasn’t worn the Oodie since. Which is galling to say the least.

Worth every penny, through lockdown in winter my dds never asked for the heating on nor complained they were cold once

The Sienna is thinner and looser around the wrists than Oodie. In that respect they are easier to wear about the house if you are doing things, like wfh, cooking etc. I suspect some people will prefer that to Oodie which may be a bit stifling

My eldest dd and I both have kuddlys and love them. They are extremely toasty. I got my 2 boys (3 and 6) imitation oodies from M and S for £16 each. They are nice but nowhere near as thick or warm.

We have a range of different ones here!

Dd1 only likes the dunhelm one (she has sensory issues and doesn't like heavy clothes or that fleecey Teddy bear material) has been washed and tumbled many times and still like new.

Dd2 has primark one, lovely and thick and keeps her snuggly and warm. She's 10 on the shorter side and I bought adult XS-S, it comes below her knees but she likes curling up inside it. She does also have a child's one from primark which has washed well.

I have a dunhelm one for pottering around or on less cold days. I have one from Lucy locket loves but I find it a bit heavy and too warm. And one from Kuddly which is very toasty but I find it a bit thick at the moment. I bought the kuddly from the 5poundstuff website for £11.99 but I don't think they have them anymore.

Then we have a sienna one from amazon which is the shortest in length and hasn't washed up brilliantly but its the back up incase others are in the wash or for guests!

Overall the dunhelm ones are the favourites here but we are all potterers so don't really sit still and get quite warm! On the sofas we have lots of big blankets though which we prefer while watching TV! Plus we are mid terrace and our house is actually quite warm which is lucky in winter (wasn't fun in summer!)

We have Kuddly for 2x adult and 1xdC (11).
One of the Kuddlys was supposed to be for DC8 but it completely swamped him, was ridiculous.
Got him an oodie and it's nice but delivery took forever.

I can't imagine working and taking video conferences in mine- would feel way too informal! But for weekends and evenings it's cosy

I have both an Oodie and one from Dunelm. The Oodie is way, way warmer and actually for most of the time I find it too warm..... it's absolutely brilliant when it's really cold though, I mainly use it when camping!

The Dunelm one is much thinner and just one fleece layer so nowhere near as warm but I use it much more as it's warm enough for me. I mainly use it instead of a dressing gown nowadays.

I've got kuddlys for me and the kids they had a great deal in August and I got 4 for £89, I should have bought 8. We had primark ones last year, which are fine, still going strong but kuddly are warmer and thicker, which I think is gonna come in handy seeing as the heating will not be going on for the foreseeable! .
