The stupid 'sultry' porno face. Why do they do it?

Ok, drag is changing. People of both sexes do put on amazing costumes. They are not mocking women. They are mocking themselves if they do the funny bits.

Im obviously not going to get any where here because obviously you have not watched an episode of Drag Race or Dragula and comparing it to blackface really is just fucking disgusting and racist so I'll stop before I throw my phone down the toilet. Ta.

But both sexes don't? It's very predominately male based. And how can they be mocking themselves when they are MEN doing impressions of WOMEN? I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about here. Ta-ta!

Sums it up nicely. Thank you.

Drag isn't just about the polished, cleaned up BBC version of drag. What about the seedy bar/club drag that's been going on for years? I have literally seen men in fake tits and suspenders talking about their cracks and shrieking like manic idiots about how hilarious it all is to be showing off their arse and having men finger their holes.

This common kind or drag isn't about gay men exorcising their right to wear whatever clothes they wish, it isn't artistic expression - this is a purile and deeply sexist parody of what is it to be a sexual female. It stinks.

Christ. I used to be a huge fan of RPDR. It makes me uncomfortable now, because a lot of what they do is appropriation. It's also got a bit boring and repetitive as a show, but that's not really the point.

You might not like the comparison with blackface, but it is valid.

There is no reason at all why drag has to be dressing up as either sex anymore. It can just be wearing costumes without the "may the best woman win" part.

You cut off my sentence half way through. I said why should women care that it was a way for lgbt men to express themselves at the expense of women?
It's just not at the expense of women though.
I just don't agree .
An LGBT man dressing up and expressing himself as a woman has absolutely no bearing on me being a woman.
It doesn't affect at all.
He wants to dress up, to express himself in a way he can't in everyday life.
I say so what?!
It doesn't make me any less of a woman
It doesn't make me feel I'm being made fun of.
Not everything's about me.

I was talking about drag acts rather than ‘Bob down the road’. As that is what the thread is about..

Drag IS about men like that though. Drag has always been be about men (and women, through Drag King's) expressing the sides of themselves that they are unable to in every day life. LISTEN to the stories on RPDR. Listen to them explaining how they have been chastised and victimized because of their sexuality and femininity. Drag has allowed people, especially effeminate men, to dress up and act as fabulously as they like. It does help to pave the way for other people who want to express themselves the way they want to.

This, exactly
