Had McDonald’s tonight, ordered the McPlant burger as usual and found this inside it! Does anyone have any clue what it could be?

Really hoping there’s a non gross explanation for this, it’s really put me off!

veganism, even!

54isanopendoor · 06/10/2022 10:04

(although I did crack & try a plant burger last month as I used to like the Bean burger in burger king or was it wendys? years & years ago anyway - a nice patty of clearly identifiable beans & veg). The McD version was utter tasteless sludge.
2 bites & I took it back thinking it wasn't properly cooked. It was. I binned it.

PenTantrum · 06/10/2022 10:16

My partner had the same thing in a McDonald’s hash brown so he thought it was some potato that has sprouted. He just ate it. He’s still alive.

My friend stopped eating the fish burger from there when she found what she thought was a worm in it and googled.

PenTantrum · 06/10/2022 10:18

She stopped eating all fish after googling worms in fish that should say. 😬

ChurryBun · 06/10/2022 10:19

Thanks for this OP, over the last almost 5 years I've had a self imposed fast food drinks and chips only rule and very recently have been tempted to break it. This thread has strengthened my resolve.

Well that’s my monthly treat of fish and chips ruined. 😭

Have haddock instead🙂

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 06/10/2022 11:02

It looks like a sprouted potato to me. Maybe

It's just a sprouted pea of some description. Chill people

Yes. But a poster on the internet has posted a bite of something with something on it that could be anything from congealed sauce caught at an angle to something she chewed and put on there. And sparked a debate on the evils of Macdonalds.

I mean, is no one questioning why she has such a tiny piece of the burger in the photo? When you notice something rancid on food, do you normally cut out a teeny tiny bit and then photograph it?

I like McDonald’s! I don’t have a need to discuss the evil of McDonald’s as I have it most weeks, it’s the only fast food place I actually eat from.

It wasn’t cut from the burger, it was just loose under the bun and it’s hard and it’s own separate thing from the rest of the burger. I wouldn’t spend time chewing bits up and smushing together to resemble eggs/teeth! 😂

I did wonder if it was a piece of the patty myself but it really doesn’t have the same texture to it IMO. All I can think it could be is a really manky lettuce stalk. It does look evil though. If it’s just a manky bit of lettuce I’d still eat there, if it’s something worse… I don’t think I could eat it again.

Did you eat the burger OP?

No! I did eat the fries though Blush

It does look horrific, but it's just (as a few posters have said,) like a piece of fruit that has started to sprout (to reproduce.)

HOWEVER, this (IMO) should not be in your food, because (again IMO,) it feels like it's an out of date raisin or something similar. Nothing FRESH should be sprouting like that!!!

@whatisthisinmyburger

Defo contact Maccies. That's not edible!!!

WhenDovesFly · 06/10/2022 12:05

Cod is full of worms. Don't ever Google candling!

ReadtheReviews · 06/10/2022 12:06

I don't know OP and quite like the mcplant. More reassuring that it wasn't part of the patty itself.
Was listening to the Hey Babe podcast the other day and they were talking about a woman feeding rat meat to a bald Eagle. She asked the host to sniff it and tell her what it reminded him of because everyone always said the same thing. He did and as everyone else did apparently, instantly thought macdonalds. Confused

BorisByCandlelight · 06/10/2022 12:10

Well all those bashing plant based options, it’s not like anything gross has never been in a meaty burger either. It’s just the perils of any fast food isn’t it. I got what looked like a bloody tooth in a cheeseburger once!

Well that’s my monthly treat of fish and chips ruined. 😭

It ruined mine, too.
Couldn’t eat fish for many months.

A friend bought some very expensive fresh cod from a posh supermarket and noticed a roundworm in it.
Another friend worked for a short while candling cod.
Cutting out encysted worms ( they form a spiral 🌀)
it’s alarmingly common.

However- Cooked they are harmless
Was going to have cod loin for dinner - but might feed to dog instead after this!

Cod belly flaps are the wormiest.
They are seal worms that the cod pick up.

Cod is known as a “ Dirty” fish as they forage.

Is it a bit of onion/vegan cheese stuck to a bit of the burger? Or a potato sprout? It looks worse than it is I think!

Surely it's just a sprouted seed of some kind.

Definitely wasn’t onion or cheese - I did wonder if it was a bit of the burger patty but the texture is totally different! Also no chunks missing from the patty etc - perfectly intact. I thought it looked potato like too but don’t think McDonald’s handle whole potatoes? I’d imagine the fries arrive to them ready cut

All I can think (hope!) it could be is a manky bit of lettuce? Like the stalk maybe? Hmm
