AIBU to be scared of what I found in my McDonald’s (pic 🤢)

Had McDonald’s tonight, ordered the McPlant burger as usual and found this inside it! Does anyone have any clue what it could be?

Really hoping there’s a non gross explanation for this, it’s really put me off!

looks like a mc sprout. I would assume since its plant based, that mabye a seed got loose

whatisthisinmyburger · 06/10/2022 02:35

I really badly want to know what it is! And if McDonald’s is off the menu forever… 🤢

This was lurking beneath the bun, not inside the actual patty itself. It’s in the bin now (although I was worried about it in the kitchen bin so not long got up to put it in the outside bin incase of any hatching overnight 😳)

Unless it’s insects/eggs/parasites/teeth all I can think it could be is a really grotty piece of lettuce? It’s the only thing that could make sense. Please reassure me and tell me it’s lettuce!

Firstly: Sorry, that looks horrid!
Secondly: If it's any reassurance I think it looks plant-y and not animal-y, ie like a seed or bean that's multi sprouted.
But yes, it could be a dead bug from the salad pr elsewhere that's been 'semi boiled' when it came into contact with heat. Caterpillar or similar, turned inside out iyswim.

madasawethen · 06/10/2022 03:55

Looks like a sprout.
Depending on where you live mcplant is made from
peas, rice, potatoes, and beetroot

FindingMeno · 06/10/2022 04:00

I'm not convinced there is a non gross explanation.

CanadianJohn · 06/10/2022 04:06

It looks remarkably similar to this picture... of baby sea snails. (Hope the image works)

Batdad12 · 06/10/2022 04:12

it looks like a seed that has started to germinate, if thats it it not really gross.

DarkNecessities · 06/10/2022 04:15

It’s just a sprouted pea/bean 😊

Do they have any mushroomy things on the veggie menu? My analysis is that it isn’t meant to be there and from something else on menu but still plant based and a sort of healthy mushroomy thing (I had a yummy mushroom part in my salad in Wagamama and it would have looked fine in that! But I agree alien here!)

I just checked the published ingredients list to try and puzzle it out, but I’m still none the wiser.

It’s main constituent is “pea protein” but basically everyone else on the list is a liquid, flavouring or preservative.

Plant Based Burger
Ingredients: Water, Pea Protein (16%), Rapeseed Oil, Coconut Oil, Flavouring, Rice Protein, Stabiliser (Methyl Cellulose), Potato Starch, Apple Extract, Salt, Pomegranate Extract, Potassium Chloride, Concentrated Lemon Juice, Maize Vinegar, Yeast Extract, Carrot Powder, Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithin), Colour (Beetroot Red), Maltodextrin.

Urgh
Why would anyone want to eat that much processed goop anyway 🤢

Firsttimehumanmumx2dogmum · 06/10/2022 05:55

It just looks like a bit of cheese attached to either beef or a burnt crumb to me

Fascinating isn't it. Plant based is supposed to be healthier and better for the planet and yet there is nothing in there that isn't massively super processed. Grim.

If people ever needed another reason not to eat at McDonald's, there it is....! 🤮

But the beef has probably been pumped full of hormones and antibiotics.

Best to avoid McDs all together, I’d say.

Scirocco · 06/10/2022 06:34

I don't know what it is, but what I do know is that I'll not be eating in McDonald's again.

That’s definitely put me off MacDonald’s, not that I have had more than a handful of meals there.

probably fell out of the chefs nose while he was cooking

Grotesque!

You need to show it to McDonalds
Only they will have the answers.
Or contact environmental health.
It looks fungal?!

Mcdonalds is so weird tasting anyway-
oddly flaccid ( chips are nice though!)

That’s like an A Level chemistry text. How on Earth can all those chemicals possibly be healthy or doing anyone any good. Every time I look at labels on foods sold I just think to myself “no wonder there is so much cancer these days”.
It’s not only pollution folks it’s your food and that’s a Bean sprouting..

I hope you don't mind OP but I downloaded the photo onto my phone and used Google Lens to try and identify it.

It came up with "Flea"

Confused

Sorry but I laughed 😂

No hormones / antibiotics make it into the food chain here.

EntertainingandFactual · 06/10/2022 06:54

You need to fish that out of the bin and send it to the Mc Laboratory ASAP.

To me it absolutely looks like a seborrheic keratosis that's fallen off. I had one fall off & it looked just like this underneath.
