Had McDonald’s tonight, ordered the McPlant burger as usual and found this inside it! Does anyone have any clue what it could be?

Really hoping there’s a non gross explanation for this, it’s really put me off!

OMG I found the exact same thing in my carton of Tropicana last week.

the brown wrinkled bit was very hard (harder than a nut)

Swg · 06/10/2022 08:22

Very likely a sprouting seed - looks scarier than it is.

Decorativefire · 06/10/2022 08:25

No idea but I'm never eating a McPlant again.

Newnewername · 06/10/2022 08:25

The brown bit bit looks like a bit of meat (sorry OP) and the white/green bit looks like lettuce. You definately need to fish it out and contact mcdonalds though.

Or um... www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2022/07/25/woman-bites-lizard-mcdonalds-burger-not-loving-compensation/

Sprouted black bean?

@wizzywascal

Did you post the wrong link? I can't see anything like it in those pics

The white stuff (looks like mix of lettuce and onions) on the left of the burger along with the vegan sauce.

OP has obv posted a tiny cross section of the burger and what could be a mix of onions, lettuce, sauce. And said it was between the bun and burger. Cross section of anything in close up looks a lot stranger than the actual thing. It's pretty deceptive tbh.

eyeteevee · 06/10/2022 08:33

That's white stuff looks nothing like lettuce and onion.

Fascinating isn't it. Plant based is supposed to be healthier and better for the planet and yet there is nothing in there that isn't massively super processed. Grim.

Content of actual meat burger form MD. 'Beef'

Plant based is supposed to contain no animal products. That's it.
No one is going to McDonalds for a healthy meal, and veganism isn't about saving the planet.

I just checked the published ingredients list to try and puzzle it out, but I’m still none the wiser.

It’s main constituent is “pea protein” but basically everyone else on the list is a liquid, flavouring or preservative.

Plant Based Burger
Ingredients: Water, Pea Protein (16%), Rapeseed Oil, Coconut Oil, Flavouring, Rice Protein, Stabiliser (Methyl Cellulose), Potato Starch, Apple Extract, Salt, Pomegranate Extract, Potassium Chloride, Concentrated Lemon Juice, Maize Vinegar, Yeast Extract, Carrot Powder, Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithin), Colour (Beetroot Red), Maltodextrin.

is that really healthy! Lots of oils and powders.

FridayTheThirteeth · 06/10/2022 08:38

Part of a plant

WhenDovesFly · 06/10/2022 08:39

Looks like pea roots that have been chopped off short, and whatever they were attached to in the ground.

What would you say that is, just by looking at it?

(It's a cross section zoomed of the official burger photo -from the side but imagine you were seeing it from the top)

We do perception tests like this at work - onions and lettuce and a white sauce in a full photo, aren't always recognisable in a cross section zoomed.

I once found a coiled up worm in my filet o fish, have never been able to face one since.

I have never eaten a filet a fish and now am so glad with my decision. 😳

Lovemusic33 · 06/10/2022 08:45

🤢I think I will stick to meat, at least we know beef burgers are full of ass holes and ball sacks.

mcdonalds is pretty grim processed shit, when I eat it I try not to dissect it.

tulips27 · 06/10/2022 08:45

I would have kept it and reported it to environmental health if I were you, they might have wanted it for testing, or at least to complain to McDonald's.

Exactly - you can see how context, angle, dimensions and clarity of photo impact what you're seeing. OP's photo is a BITE of a burger with something on it. Why on worth would you compare a full sized anything to a cross section?? This is exactly why social media is so deceptive because people don't realise that cross sections do not look anything like it would in a whole.

TittleTattleOh · 06/10/2022 08:49

A wart with roots.

eyeteevee · 06/10/2022 08:50

@wizzywascal

I have to admit I really don't understand what you are on about with cross sections but that pic OP posted looks nothing like lettuce.

Musti · 06/10/2022 08:51

twinkletoesimnot · 06/10/2022 05:50

Urgh
Why would anyone want to eat that much processed goop anyway 🤢

Urgh - this is what chicken nuggets contains:

R: Chicken Breast Meat (45%), Water, Vegetable Oils (Sunflower, Rapeseed), Maize Flour, Allergen Ingredient: WHEAT Flour (contains Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Starch, Allergen Ingredient: WHEAT Semolina, Breadcrumb (Allergen Ingredient: WHEAT Flour (contains Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Salt), Natural Flavourings (contain Allergen Ingredient: CELERY), Allergen Ingredient: WHEAT Gluten, Potassium Chloride, Dried Glucose Syrup, Salt, Raising Agents (Sodium Carbonates), Spices (contain Allergen Ingredient: CELERY), Dextrose.

Any vegan food trying to emulate meat is going to be a mix of stuff. It’s just plant based stuff anyway and anyone going to Mac Donald’s isn’t going for a healthy meal.

BorisByCandlelight · 06/10/2022 08:52

Ugh remember that one with the eyelashes in the mince.

Anyway I think it's either a bit of connective tissue or a sprouted bean.

FleeUpFreeTime · 06/10/2022 08:52
