Had McDonald’s tonight, ordered the McPlant burger as usual and found this inside it! Does anyone have any clue what it could be?

Really hoping there’s a non gross explanation for this, it’s really put me off!

I have to say that veganism just looks like a life full of disappointment

Exactly - you can see how context, angle, dimensions and clarity of photo impact what you're seeing. OP's photo is a BITE of a burger with something on it. Why on worth would you compare a full sized anything to a cross section?? This is exactly why social media is so deceptive because people don't realise that cross sections do not look anything like it would in a whole.

OPs image is neither a bite nor a cross section of the burger. It is an image of whatever that creature is, sitting in the palm of her hand.

You’re simply chatting shite.

@wizzywascal

I have to admit I really don't understand what you are on about with cross sections but that pic OP posted looks nothing like lettuce.

Yes. But a poster on the internet has posted a bite of something with something on it that could be anything from congealed sauce caught at an angle to something she chewed and put on there. And sparked a debate on the evils of Macdonalds.

I mean, is no one questioning why she has such a tiny piece of the burger in the photo? When you notice something rancid on food, do you normally cut out a teeny tiny bit and then photograph it?

Twiglets1 · 06/10/2022 09:05

OP you didn't include a poll but you are very very reasonable to be scared of that thing

Boxin · 06/10/2022 09:07

It’s something that has sprouted.
Like a bean shoot. Not pleasant to look at but nout terrifying.

Newnewername · 06/10/2022 09:08

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet I'm not vegan but I think McDonalds is a life of disappointment. I went a few weeks back. It was a bit like eating cardboard and I was hungry again an hour later. I quite enjoyed the strawberry milkshake but it was too big but I still drank all of it. I felt sick afterwards but I don't think I can blame them for my greediness. 😆 I won't be going again.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 06/10/2022 09:12

Probably a scab that fell off the server's face.

eyeteevee · 06/10/2022 09:16

@wizzywascal

I honestly think we are seeing 2 different pictures.

GoodShipLollipopBop · 06/10/2022 09:17

OP - if you have Twitter just tweet them a photo and they'll get back to you super quick!

@wizzywascal

I honestly think we are seeing 2 different pictures.

Think you are seeing it as a whole thing - a bean that's sprouting or an insect. I'm seeing it as a cut of the patty with something on it. The brown bit looks like a bit of the patty to me, like someone cut the patty, put it on their hand with some sauce, onions attached to it.

Would have been clearer if we could see photo of the burger with this thing in it. Alas we'll never know. And Macdonalds has certainly lost some custom via this thread. You can see now how easy it is to campaign against something with very little information and evidence.

Deguster · 06/10/2022 09:26

Can someone tweet this pic to McD’s and ask them to identify it? It looks like a sprouted something but doesn’t seem to bear any relation to the ingredients. It’s given me the ick.

OneTC · 06/10/2022 09:30

The other way up it looks like a piece of broccoli gone wrong

Laiste · 06/10/2022 09:34

@wizzywascal OP said she found this UNDER the bun. As it is. Not in it.

Laiste · 06/10/2022 09:35

''This was lurking beneath the bun, not inside the actual patty itself.''

Cod is full of worms. Don't ever Google candling!

Well that’s my monthly treat of fish and chips ruined. 😭

All I am seeing is someone trying to suggest this is a campaign, whilst having little information and evidence. Oh, and also completely ignoring both what OP said, and the actual picture.

birder · 06/10/2022 09:40

Did you eat the burger OP?

GettingOrganisedNow · 06/10/2022 09:42

To me to it looks like something that's sprouted, so probably nothing too harmful (I wouldn't eat it, but I wouldn't burn the house down to get rid of it either... I'd be somewhere in the middle of those two).

I think it's probably fallen in by mistake when they were packing your food.

WrongWayApricot · 06/10/2022 09:49

I think it's a bit of sprouting potato

Fascinating isn't it. Plant based is supposed to be healthier and better for the planet and yet there is nothing in there that isn't massively super processed. Grim.

Content of actual meat burger form MD. 'Beef'

Plant based is actually healthier and better if you eat plants. No one has to eat processed goop:)

VickyEadieofThigh · 06/10/2022 10:00

DoNutSweatTheSmallStuff · 06/10/2022 06:22

If people ever needed another reason not to eat at McDonald's, there it is....! 🤮

Or anything described as "plant-based" that's clearly a lump of processed shite.

BoxcarMilly · 06/10/2022 10:00

Looks like a bean of some kind sprouting...

Dogtooth · 06/10/2022 08:09

This is why I only go in McDonald's to shit

Grin Their coffee is actually very good. Cheap & wins awards. The 'Food' is vile.

I have to say that veganism just looks like a life full of disappointment

Why?

I was a meat eater for almost 40 years until I went vegetarian, then vegan. My diet is far less bland, more colourful, much tastier and far more nutritious than it was when ate meat/animal products.

The issue here is with McDonald's food, not vegansim.
