I don't think I'm being unreasonable. She's put everything out there to safeguard children in the face of vile misogyny and cowardice from many of her fellow writers.

She also always has beautiful hair.

This great Women is bloody marvelous.

She could ignore everything and live in peace BUT she sees the wrong being done, and speaks out.

lizziesiddal79 · 06/10/2022 10:01

She speaks the truth, and in today’s warped world, that is blasphemy.

Galileo vs. The Inquisition. The earth does go around the sun.

Men are not women.

The passing time will vindicate her.

VinoDino · 06/10/2022 10:07

Adding my voice - she's an absolute queen and I couldn't respect her more if I tried. Also loved her response to IW's tweet.

Shivermetimbers0112 · 06/10/2022 10:08

She’s a beacon of integrity. Always calm and balanced in the face of ridiculous and ill-informed aggression. Not a big fan of all the “right side of history” bollocks, but if there is a right side then she’s it.

Also this thread prompted me to head over to her Twitter to see what's new as figured someone must be throwing some fresh abuse which she'd be batting down with grace and humour, and saw the new Strike book is out, how could I have missed that?! That's my weekend reading sorted...

@Lemonyfuckit it's bloody good too I just started it. Made sure I paid full price at my local bookshop rather than buying via Amazon so she gets every penny!

Rosehugger · 06/10/2022 10:12

I've never stopped liking her, even when I've not agreed with absolutely everything she said. Because someone you admire doesn't have to exactly share your views.

I think Graham Linehan is even more courageous in fact as he has lost so much due to being blacklisted.

Lemonyfuckit · 06/10/2022 10:12

Thanks Arcadia, I shall look forward to that!

India Willoughby has blocked me on twitter despite the fact I've never interacted with the account.

Can anyone screenshot that exchange?

Arewerelated · 06/10/2022 10:18

Love her ❤️

Inkanta · 06/10/2022 10:21

She's a great role model. I greatly admire how's she speaks the truth and stands up to the bullies and their enablers and endures the retaliation - is not deterred.

ThrowingSomeCrumbs · 06/10/2022 10:22

She doesn't speak for me. I support her right to speak as she wishes though, and also support other peoples right to disagree with her. I wish the whole Trans issue didn't hide the excellent work she does for literacy and charities.

No strong feelings either way but her ‘downfall’ is certainly intriguing. Virtually everyone under 30 hates her. I wonder if that reputation is set forever, or in another generation there’ll be a reassessment.

We have 3 children under 30 one primary aged, one at college and one twenties. They all adore her.

ThrowingSomeCrumbs · 06/10/2022 10:25

Eurgh. Please do not include Graham Linehan in the same thread. There are HUGE differences between the two.

While I don't agree with JK Rowling, she argues her point with clarity and doesn't resort to being rude. Linehan is rude and obnoxious towards all women who don't agree with him. Strangely he isn't like that to men who disagree with him. Wonder why.

Bellaisoneluckywoman · 06/10/2022 10:25

Not sure there are any words that can do justice to how much I love and admire her. Fearless warrior woman.

I live in hope that she's on Mumsnet and can see the extent of the gratitude and love.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 06/10/2022 10:26

JKR is a QUEEN!! ❤️👑

dottiedodah · 06/10/2022 10:26

Really love her! She is so intelligent and kind .Takes womens issues seriously and her books taught my Son to have a love of reading .(Now at Uni!) Also DN love her books too! 7 and 8!

PollyPaintsFlowers · 06/10/2022 10:28

P.S. My kids, under 30, also love and adore her and Harry Potter. They're aware, the older one moreso, of the hate JKR receives and all it's done is turn them into bigger mini terfs 😂

peachescariad · 06/10/2022 10:29

My 3 young adult DC love her and agree with her....sex matters and you can't change your sex. Common sense prevails.
We all stand with you JKR ❤

In my neck of the woods, she is considered to be a dreadful person with regard to her loudly proclaimed views on gender and identity.

She's blocked loads of people at random.

I recently saw her ask people to buy the first one full price if they could as all profits go to charity but then said to borrow from library/ get cheap secondhand for the others if you wanted to read them cheaply.
She is a queen.

Genuine question for the proud TERFs out there. If trans men and women have to use the bathroom assigned by their birth gender, that would mean you're happy to have men in a women's public bathroom, right?

We don't see what's between their legs in a bathroom (if you do, that's on you!) so all we would see is a man - hair, clothes, body shape, muscle definition, probably facial hair. Because a trans man is being forced to use the bathroom assigned by their gender at birth.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but it sounds like it would bother a lot of people. Be careful what you wish for 🤣.

In my neck of the woods, she is considered to be a dreadful person with regard to her loudly proclaimed views on gender and identity.

She believes in biological reality, that trans people should be treated fairly and with respect , but that females require single sex spaces in certain situations for privacy, safety and dignity, and that gender identity does not overrule sex.
i look forward to hearing your explanation of what is so dreadful about that.

But that would imply transmen are men, which they are not. No female can be as a man, as that is the word for adult human male. No one is assigned a gender at birth. Sex is observed and noted. A transman using the female bathroom would be using the correct facility for their sex.

Winecrispschocolatecats · 06/10/2022 10:45

Just to add - all of the arguments currently being directed against trans people are exactly the same as the hatred and bigotry previously (and still currently) directed at gay people. If you genuinely believe trans people should have fewer rights/are sick/paedophiles etc you're spouting exactly the same nonsense that people used to aim at gay people.

You've learned nothing from the past and you're on the wrong side of history.
