To think that JK Rowling is a lioness of epic proportions?

I don't think I'm being unreasonable. She's put everything out there to safeguard children in the face of vile misogyny and cowardice from many of her fellow writers.

She also always has beautiful hair.

And I have not come across one woman that said trans people are unnatural or sick in the head.

some women absolutely do believe that trans people are mentally ill.

Gender Dysphoria is in the DSM -5-TR

Is that women's fault?

But most people who identify as trans are not gender dysphoric. I think many women think that some trans people are using trans ideology to erode the boundaries of women and children. I think there is a fair amount of evidence to back up that belief.

I love when JKR gets involved. She writes it beautifully (of course). What an awesome woman she is.

I think the women of Iran burning their hijabs for freedom despite being killed for it are ‘lionesses of epic proportions’. But ‘feminists’ these days don’t seem to care about that. They care about what toilet a transwoman uses.

Well, you're wrong for a start and obviously have no idea what feminists have been doing.

The other interesting thing is that if those poor Iranian women came to this country and needed to have single-sex spaces, away from the very people that would do them harm (men!), you would have no problem calling them a bigot.

Personally I think these Iranian women are missing a trick. They could just identify as men and then they wouldn't need to worry about the hijab.

Can I join the fan club too? She’s an absolute legend!

And, to be clear, a flesh tube sewn onto a female who wants one is not a dick.

Of course you're right. However I was thinking on a superficial level, not a biological level. You have given me food for thought though and I see and agree with your point.

TambourineOfRepentance · 06/10/2022 11:52

The relatively low percentage of transmen who pass as men and the even smaller percentage of transwomen who pass as women don't need self ID laws with regard to changing rooms and toilets.
The only individuals who benefit from these spaces being separated by gender identity instead of by sex are the majority who don't pass and would usually be challenged about it. In doing so, it harms the women who are then forced to share spaces with any man who can get their mouths to form the words "I'm a woman" and fancies infringing on womens boundaries.

Exactly. Women are now 'bigots' for clinging to our sex-based human rights. This is misogynistic.

Yes, isn't it a pity that women in Iran and in Afghanistan can't just 'identify' out of their sex-based oppression. It truly is, as they say, a first world privilege.

I think JKR is great, love the Harry Potter stuff though my children haven't read the books ...very disappointing. I've bought her books for children as gifts and her strike novels for myself and as gifts.

When the last Harry Potter book came out I was at a night club and we all went to asda at 2am to buy books for ourselves and orders from friends. Had to leave one for a friend on her drive behind a car as her husband wanted to start reading as soon as he woke up 😀

Her bravery and generosity is outstanding ❤

Hey Rufus have you read the Ickabog? I've finally got round to reading mine. Almost finished now, it's been lovely and the illustrations in it are gorgeous.

And a baby is called an Ickaboggle 😊

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 06/10/2022 11:54

YADNBU.

🦁 (goddamm sexist emojis, no lioness!! They could at least put lipstick on the lion though, as we all know that a female is just a male in lipstick and/or a dress, right…?!)

I don't want anyone with a dick near me when I am in a state of undress unless I have agreed for them to be there.
I don't care how spinny the skirt, how long the hair, how tilty the head, how gentle the soul.
Lobby for a third space. Happy to have my tax payer/customer money spent on a third space.
But stay the fuck out of my space. And my daughter's.

Perfectly put x

Here are Rowling's own words on the sex/gender issue: www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

As ever, I'd like the transphobic and unreasonable sections to be highlighted please. I've brought a packed lunch so can wait a while, along with the posters who've asked which rights are being removed from trans people, and what a woman is.

briarhill · 06/10/2022 11:59

I ADORE JK Rowling!!! Roar, Lioness, roar!!!

Don't forget all those silly girls who undergo FGM.

Why don't they just tell the people wielding the knives that their genitals identify as male?

LunchBoxPolice · 06/10/2022 12:03

Love her.

EdgeOfACoin · 06/10/2022 12:04

Btw, for any newcomers to this discussion - if this thread suddenly disappears, it will probably have been moved to the feminism boards (under 'sex and gender').

Mumsnet have hidden the feminism boards away recently, but can be found if you look under the 'all talk topics' section.

@figtrees What is desperate and sad, is your ignorance. JK has said she supports safe spaces and protections for transpeople. It's clear you're ignorant of what she has actually said. What is desperate and sad, is the femphobia and misogyny of those who want to tear down the safeguards and the human rights women have as a result of our foresister feminists that fought and shed blood, sweat and tears for our spaces. I suggest you educate yourself. Because you are on the wrong side of history.

Get back in your box.
Despite those trying their best to cancel her, she still tops the book charts when her books are released.
She will be remembered as a true heroine.
Unlike the side which sends rape and death threats to those who dare to disagree with their terrible ideology.
The floodgates are opening, the light is shining and people are seeing how right she is.

Their hateful misogyny is so clear. They truly hate women. They really do. They are dangerous and hateful.
