AIBU to think Mumsnet should allow women ( & men ) who were right about lack of safeguarding in certain places back on this site? ( if they wish to return) ?

Thank you for the links provided on 1st page. I always tried to stay away from woke part of society (so staying away from threads on MN too), because I find them very aggressive and entitled, but I can't say I'm surprised about this recent discovery. We had it coming and there'll be more.

Thanks. Will take a look.

This is still pretty cryptic, could you just explain the 'recent revelations'?

The problem is people are worried about being outed at work and sacked for their opinions or doxed. There was a case recently where a GP was openly encouraging people to dox and attack a women in her own home due to her gender critical views.

In the last 5 years since I’ve been aware of some brave women who have concerns about adult men dressing as women for their sexual thrills and entering women only spaces eg Karen White who used her penis rape at least one woman in a women’s jail and rape crisis centres who refuse to offer at least one session for only biology women. There is also concern about a huge number of of young girls, many with ASD who are struggling through puberty with their changing bodies in a society which believes women bodies are public or male property. Many people are worried that these girls and some boys are being pushed down a medical path with appropriate counselling and with experimental treatment which is not being appropriately researched. Transpeople deserve good medical treatment which they are not getting. They deserve to be appropriately safeguarded. .

Women you have raised concerns eg JK Rowling have been vilified as on the wrong side of history, losing jobs, friends.

Recently there has been a spate of events which has highlighted and added official support for the safeguarding concerns.

  • 2 GP have received suspensions from GMC
  • Travistock NHS gender treatment centre has been found not fit for purpose with a range of serious safeguarding concerns
  • Mermaid charity is being investigated by the charity commission for safeguarding failures
prunesandporridge · 05/10/2022 09:35

That is interesting. The poster who started the thread about the doxxing was subsequently banned from MN for writing a very insightful essay about pronouns.

trigger warning. he talks about abusing children and its sick

Believerinbiology · 05/10/2022 09:37

Why were they banned? Because they spoke the truth in clear, moderate language, calmly pointing out the glaring safeguarding risks again and again. For this they were targeted and repeatedly reported with their reporters gleefully boasting on other sites such as twitter about the success of their targeted attacks. Any post would be mass reported and pleas that these reports not be acted on as were ignored. Also in the naughty corner you can be deleted for as little as posting a biscuit or shrug emoji, or if somebody thinks you are being sarcastic if you are a regular poster. Also the rules change all the time or depending on the moderator and you must not question the rules.

BitossiBlues · 05/10/2022 09:38

@AgathaMystery I am not sure my wee rant deserves your kind compliment, but thank you. The reality is that, without all the amazing regulars of what I still view as THE FWR board, I would not have any kind of voice in the face of what feels like the most overwhelming tsunami of corporate backed misogyny and bigotry. We are so lucky here on Terf Island that the tide is turning back, slowly but surely; and I don't think there's a single prominent figure in the fight back who hasn't been aware of FWR's formidable women, or indeed received funds to fight their cases from FWR "gardening".

Cuck00soup · 05/10/2022 09:39

Yes they absolutely should be invited back. I doubt they would want to return though.

Personally, I will be forever grateful to those posters for helping me to get it. For showing me that a misogynistic campaign to trample over women's boundaries has nothing to do with equality or fairness. And for explaining how barriers are removed by policing language to disguise what is going on in plain sight.

I will defend anyone's right to a dodgy breakfast as long as they don't expect me to participate.

Me too, I mentioned on another thread this exact thing! I'll be so grateful to the probably banned posters who opened my eyes to this a few years back now, they were the outliers in seeing where all this was leading when I was still in a fog of wouldn't it be nice if everyone were nice and everyone just lived and let live tra la la land!

Rosehugger · 05/10/2022 09:49

I hope this brings Mermaids down and the shades fall from people's eyes as to what they are really about.

Believerinbiology · 05/10/2022 09:50

I lurked for years before posting and I'm ashamed that my memory is so bad for names. Occasionally a poster pops up with a name referencing a banned poster or a poster who left after repeated suspensions and it reminds me of all their amazing contributions. Not sure if Barracker has been mentioned here already but one of her posts that got taken down and her suspended from here and other sites really made me sit up and think. Not just because of what she said but the fact that it was targeted and taken down from multiple sites. Luckily it's still up on some.

BitossiBlues · 05/10/2022 09:52

I was still in a fog of wouldn't it be nice if everyone were nice and everyone just lived and let live tra la la land!

Well that's the blasted irony of it all, isn't it. Most of us were from the left and held just such a view. We were aware of the odd cross dressing male in our spaces every now and then, but took a live and let live attitude to their presence. An actual transperson was vanishingly rare. Then Stonewall lost its raison d'être post gay marriage being legalised, the left realised it was completely clueless as to how to fix real issues of poverty, lack of opportunity, housing crises etc, and the police realised just how fucking widespread crimes based in misogyny are and how they were failing to deal even with the tip of that iceberg; so between them they cooked up a new category of "most marginalised", then focussed all their attention on providing relief to this made up group, whilst vilifying all the people they had failed in a form of mass, institutional DARVO.

ThrowingSomeCrumbs · 05/10/2022 09:54

Having managed to track down the basis of the presentation this man gave 11 years ago (as a Phd student), it was around, basically, providing services / support to pedophiles before they commit any offences in order to protect children, and giving it actual diagnostic criteria. This, in the long run, was about protecting children. B4U-ACT is an organisation that works to these aims. Not to encourage pedophilia but rather to stop pedophiles from actually acting on their.. urges (I can't think of a better word than that, though it doesn't seem enough).

I am all for less children being subjected to such hideousness behaviour. And allowing people to seek help before they act, is shown to reduce it.

FairlySane · 05/10/2022 09:54

ComebackQueen · 05/10/2022 07:09

I concur, I just want to reiterate that the post does come across as very apologetic. Most people are repulsed just reading the headline, when you delve deeper, that man is really repugnant.

I’ve noticed there seems to be a disproportionate amount of people that are supportive of trans ideology linked with sexual crimes against women and children. That alone should make people question why they have taken such a keen interest in trying to allow men into single sex safe spaces.

i very much expect a ban for expressing this sentiment but look at what happened in America with the spa. Now, tell me what came to light by that ‘woman’ sitting naked with ‘her’ out.

i very much subscribe to the JK Rowling philosophy, dress as you please, claim to be a carrot if you must but please don’t come into our toilets.

……. but please don’t come into our toilets
or come after our children

BitossiBlues · 05/10/2022 09:56

Posted too soon.

We, former lefty, live and let live types, were reframed as fascist bigots for refusing to move aside for this made up category of "most marginalised' - made up and run by the mostly white, the mostly middle class and mostly males - i.e. the ruling class that has always had all the power.

Believerinbiology · 05/10/2022 10:01

For those watching and seeing people come on this thread to minimise the dubious record of this man, I suggest you look up what he's actually said and all the areas he's previously been involved in which have been quoted or linked to in the fwr thread including his books. He also mentions his own excitement at watching a 12 year old dance. He has also been busy deleting his posting history/ twitter account...if 'there's nothing to see here, move along' why do that.

MyHoneyIsOverTheMOtion · 05/10/2022 10:04

Oh, how I laughed at the Wagamamas U-Turn 😈

Go woke, go broke is what they say 😂

Oooooops.

B4U-ACT is not the benign organisation you seem to think it is.

This post from Reduxx discusses the organisation and Breslow's views here:

reduxx.info/trustee-of-trans-youth-charity-resigns-after-pro-pedophile-revelations/

Disturbing stuff.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 05/10/2022 10:07

I think that ship has sailed.

But really, any ideology or specific branch of activism which openly claims the word 'safeguarding' is a dog whistle have shown their hands from the start. They were in plain sight and didn't even make any pretence as to who and what they are.

It's horrifying that it should have taken so many years for this to come to light. Numerous women with the audacity to speak up, who have been 'cancelled' in the meantime, remain unvindicated and the knives are still very much out for the likes of Rowling and Stock. And all this time the reality has already been clearly visible.

Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

UniversalAunt · 05/10/2022 10:11

’I still don't understand what this is all about
I mean, I searched and searched on the Guardian and couldn't find anything at all. 🤷‍♂️‘

Fancy that!

I can only wonder about the ‘thought management’ churning at the Gruniad as a rapid repositioning takes place so they land on the right side of history.

prunesandporridge · 05/10/2022 10:15

I seem to recall that another (now banned) FWR poster did an interesting piece of research looking at PIE, founder members, supporters and organisations, politicians, charities, political parties, professional and social connections, financial partnerships that they all had in common. It was enlightening.
PIE, in particular, has never gone away and certain people just reinvent themselves and are constantly fawned over by the BBC among others.

Beowulfa · 05/10/2022 10:20

Anyone who has a problem with safeguarding is a safeguarding problem- I first read that truth here on MN.

Shameful that a parenting website is under such pressure to prioritise the hurty feels of a certain group of entitled males over basic protections for minors.

BIWI · 05/10/2022 10:22

Side comment ...

Interesting that the posters who would appear to support this guy also can't spell paedophile or paedophilia properly.

What about Girlguiding UK?

There are actively endorsing and promoting Mermaids. For example, on their webpage called Support Organisations it says:

These organisations and charities are a great source for resources and information.

Then they link to Mermaids wit the following description:

Mermaids - support for individual young trans people with or without support from their families. Their website contains useful first-hand accounts from young people and their parents. (my bold italics)

Screenshot attached for when they remove the link 😂
