It’s always the same. Low paid workers just need to work harder, whilst well off are offered tax cuts.
lower paid workers don’t need wage increases because it’s a vocation, bankers need bonus cap removing to incentivize them with more money.

I'm really disturbed by the implication that people who aren't paid so much are being lazy by not getting another job - as if it's that easy. A lot of low-paid jobs are absolutely back-breaking, and they require skill and training. But to get a slightly higher-paid job is very hard, especially for people who don't have so many transferrable qualifications.

To be fair, the best income at the minute is to do a low paying job but only for 16 hours a week. Then get it topped up to £2k a month plus.

What a prat the MP who came up with this is .....
Completely out of touch with reality for the vast majority.
Perhaps he'd care to donate the £3500 a month he receives from a Manchester based law firm in return for strategic corporate advice to help some of his constituents. He could well afford to bearing in mind in addition to this he also receives his MP's salary of £84,144 and £67,505 for being a cabinet minister.

@CoastalWave most people can't live on 16 hours. Home Bargains only give 16 hour contracts and that's why they are always looking for staff. As soon as more hour jobs come up, people leave. My DD, two children and low rent needs 25 hours. It's a myth that 16 hours means that you get enough of a benefit top up to live on.

The poor have no voice.

The tory rich are tone deaf.

The media did not help when they aired programmes like benefit street.

Which encouraged people to vote the tories as they really believed the crap put out there.
These voters really did believe the poor were lazy and could get a job or do more hours bla bla.

Now these same voters may also be feeling the pinch.

If you can't see it then you will feel it.

Let them eat cake. Honestly, how are people so clueless?!

Cake is cheaper than bread at my supermarket.
