AIBU to think this government is now totally dead in the water..?

Wonder what all the Truss handmaidens tying themselves in knots to defend the tax cut will say now..?

@RedAppleGirl so you believe in the discredited doctrine of trickle down economics. Righto, no need to take anything you say seriously then.

They also believe that PM Johnson was removed by Social media, nothing to do with the record breaking 50+ Conservative MPs that quit on him.😂😂😂

The Tories, as always blaming everyone but themselves. Their desperation is funny.

Emotionalsupportviper · 03/10/2022 17:28

Thank you @SleeplessInEngland

I understand now. 🤔

Croque · 03/10/2022 17:32

They are still unable to feign remorse with the "What a day!" comment from Kwazi followed by muffled laughter. They seem to hit a lower low whenever they speak publicly. It is horrific.

mathanxiety · 03/10/2022 17:33

The damage has been done, and now they look like a bunch of amateurs who know as much about economics and finance as my cat does. This won't inspire confidence in the markets.

Plus, the Bank of England is out £65 billion.

TheHoover · 03/10/2022 17:49

Indeed, one of the ‘project fear’, ‘why should we listen to these so called experts’ lot.

Don't misquote me please?
Covid policy doctrine was initiated under the advice of fools like sage and their global equivalents. Is that clear enough?
Oh and how are the European powerhouse banks Credit Suisse and Deutsche doing today. How is Holland coping with it 17% inflation.

How is France coping with 6% inflation? Germany is very similar to UK but with far lower Govt borrowing costs, most of EU has lower govt borrowing than UK.

We all saw what happened when countries didn't lock down, Russia and Brazil saw terrible death rates and a complete collapse of health services.

Economies don't function when there is a risk of catching and dying from a new virus which no one has any immunity too.

Many economists are saying UK will have to u-turn on corp tax and NI plus a wind fall tax if we are to get yields down.

Blossomtoes · 03/10/2022 17:52

The Tory bots are out in force today. They’re bloody desperate if they’re having to go back 46 years to “prove” their point. Thank you, bots, you’re illustrating brilliantly how desperate your masters are and how close to the Tory endgame we are. The current record for the shortest UK premiership is 111 days, I think we may soon be looking at a new one - only 83 days until Christmas …

antelopevalley · 03/10/2022 17:56

I can't believe anyone can defend this. They are totally incompetent. Truss was in post for two weeks and tanked the economy.

Truss is living up to her nickname the iron weather cock (think tin foil weather cock more like)

lannistunut · 03/10/2022 18:06

LMAO at Kwarteng's twenty minute annoucement-free speech, where he criticised Labour's economic credentials Grin

Surely he'll have to go, not that it'll do Truss much good looking at the polling but he can't stay, can he?

Hope not. And I hope he takes that slimy, arrogant tosser, Philp, with him.

Happygirl79 · 03/10/2022 18:12

The government are a national disgrace.
They have shown no remorse whatsoever for tanking our economy.

Isn't it "Hand grenade Truss" ?

100% on Philp, what an arrogant slime ball, well they all.

lannistunut · 03/10/2022 18:18

@Blossomtoes Yes I really don't have much time for Philp. I laughed so much when Mick Lynch was just saying 'you're lying, that's a lie, that's a lie, you're lying' on Newsnight.

TimBoothseyes · 03/10/2022 18:25

Or giving billions away so people can have throat tattoos and eat burgers.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day.

LadyWithLapdog · 03/10/2022 18:27

I see KK speech today described as empty and vacuous.

walkingonsunshinekat · 03/10/2022 18:34

RedAppleGirl · 03/10/2022 16:38

Which will grow the economy, those that invest their money in endeavours that grow and are useful for groups of people. We know that wealth is generated by the wealthy. The rich do get richer.
Or giving billions away so people can have throat tattoos and eat burgers.

We've just had the great pandemic fiscal giveaway. It didn't work. It has to be paid back.
People are foolish, biting the very hand that feeds them. Literally.

Ah but the people who work for the so called wealth creators, they get fuck all and can claim of the state ie tax payers to stop themselves from starving.... i get it now.

Funny though, that economies that have a better distribution of wealth, also have higher growth, higher GDP per capita and better public services than the UK has.

I thought we were giving away billions to the rich so then can have cheaper energy costs?

Not very well it would seem:

Croque · 03/10/2022 18:54

The French have been striking over every issue since forever. However, speaking to them, I find that they are generally calm and horrified at what is going on in the UK. They have regarded us as the prosperous neighbour for a long time.

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/10/2022 18:55

Oh, good for the French people, standing up for themselves. We should definitely do that in this country as well.
Thanks for the idea Clav.

Hope everyone read that the same way i did, but Clav is offering a solution.

General strike it is then.

Your article (June 2022) is out of date;
(Next year, according to the OECD think-tank, the UK will have the lowest growth in the G20, apart from sanctioned Russia.)

27 September 2022
Germany’s economy is on course to suffer the worst contraction in the G20, apart from Russia, and lead the eurozone into a downturn caused by inflation driven by surging energy prices, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has warned.

Right, brace yourselves for power cuts folks. We have now had the first serious announcement.

Ahhhh lovely, @Croque just what we need to end this fabulous year.
