Do you wear foundation on an "ordinary" day outside the house?

No - yanbu
Yes - yabu

Wondering, completely neutrally (each woman obviously should decide for herself). Obviously it's nobody else's business on an individual level, but I'm wondering whether more women do or don't statistically rather than about why individuals do or don't.

Yes every single day. I mix the foundation with a primer to make it a bit lighter weight. Then eyeshadow, mascara, a bit of bronzer and lip colour.

SurpriseWombat · 01/10/2022 16:53

Yes, though from time to time I'll skip it if I'm just going to Lidl and dog walking

Sceptre86 · 01/10/2022 16:54

Depends, if I'm going to the shops yes. If I'm just out to do pick up and drop off to school then no.

Shiningstarr · 01/10/2022 17:05

Yes I do.

Merryoldgoat · 01/10/2022 17:23

@1in200

it’s the Trinny London BFF De-stress

its quite nice and subtle - evens out but still skin-like.

I wear a moisturiser and then a light foundation both have spf 25 and that's the main reason for wearing. I also have redness from rosacea so it helps with that.

Doesn't sound like many are wearing an spf

@petpig, I wear non tinted spf daily but didn’t include that as count it as skin care not make up.

PorridgePowered (excellent oat-based fuel choice 🤣 ) by ordinary day I just meant a day that is expected to be fairly much your usual stuff; no major special event, no job interview or formal occasion or big celebration or special one off event. I see though that some people have interpreted it as non working day. It's not really what I meant but it doesn't matter either way.

I think some days are less ordinary than others for everyone though - attending a wedding or funeral, a job interview or school reunion or your parents' 50/60th wedding anniversary meal, going out to a fancier than usual restaurant to celebrate something, obviously for some people going to a club or a ball or a black tie event... All those things I'd put in the "not an ordinary day" category (though of course a few people have jobs or lifestyles which mean some of those things are ordinary, as in multiple times per week, occasions).

No. Only ever wear in when going out. Which is about twice a year 🙈

YumYummy · 01/10/2022 19:22

No
I have only worn it for my wedding and two makeovers. I hate the feel of it.

FindingMeno · 01/10/2022 19:23

I never wear foundation.
I hate the feel of it on my face.

georgarina · 01/10/2022 19:24

Yes. Just under my eyes, around my nose and on my chin so I don't look tired/skin looks healthier

schoolsoutforever · 01/10/2022 19:28

Yes, if I’m going out I usually wear some kind of base - maybe bb cream or a lighter dusting of mineral makeup but it’s all the same sort of thing. I do tend to try to avoid too much now I am older and have wrinkles as it doesn’t look good when it gets in the creases.

xogossipgirlxo · 01/10/2022 19:30

Always. I love make up.

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 01/10/2022 19:41

I only wear foundation if I'm doing what I call my 'proper' make-up. If I'm going out somewhere and I do foundation, contouring, eyeshadow etc. I LOVE spending ages doing my make up.

Day to day and for work, I wear tinted moisturiser, eyeliner, bit of mascara. But I always do my eyebrows properly as it completely lifts my face.

Gunner1510 · 01/10/2022 19:45

Yes. I am very pale and blonde, with blonde brows and lashes and look like a boiled egg without makeup!!

I wear CC cream, powder, bronzer, blush, mascara and brow pencil for work or in the daytime. If I go out in the evening I’ll wear foundation and also add eyeshadow/eyeliner, I very occasionally wear lipstick but my lips are dark red naturally so don’t usually feel the need. I always remove thoroughly with a triple cleanse in the evening.

As per PP I have worn proper moisturiser with good SPF, face makeup of some kind with SPF and sunscreen round my eyes since I was about 14 and I genuinely think it has helped my skin and helped it look younger.

Rinatinabina · 01/10/2022 19:48

Yes but I have patches of quite significant hyperpigmentation and scaring. But I don’t use much, and I use fingers. Make up is basically primer, eyebrow pencil, mascara and a bit of foundation. Takes less than 5 minutes but makes me feel a bit better about my terrible terrible skin. I also don’t do my hair (as in I wash, use a hair oil to calm it down and leave to dry naturally) so the make up makes me a bit more presentable.

tillyandmilly · 01/10/2022 19:52

No - since no longer working in a customer facing role and now working from home I go without make up - its lovely having my skin breathe - I am never wearing it again!

HangOnToYourself · 01/10/2022 19:57

I wear a bit of foundation, blusher and eye brow pencil every day. I think it makes me look fresher and only takes 2 mins

coldcaff · 01/10/2022 19:58

Day to day I just wear mascara. For a special occasion I'll use a bit of powder foundation, eyeliner and eyeshadow too.

GrimmTales · 01/10/2022 19:59

no, I never wear foundation.

Youdoyoutoday · 01/10/2022 20:00

Normal, every day
SPF Moisturiser
Primer
Tinted Moisturiser
Translucent powder
Bronzer powder
Mascara

Evening out I add
Eyeliner
Eyeshadow
Matte Lipstick

I find foundation sits really badly on my skin like it's cakey and it makes me feel really self conscious so I'm much happier with tinted moisturiser now

Smileeriley · 01/10/2022 20:00

I wear a full face every day. Lashes too.

PorcupinePie · 01/10/2022 20:02

Yes, foundation every day because I'm self conscious about acne scars, and I fill in my eyebrows lightly with a pencil where theyre a bit patchy. I don't think I look "done up" (I hope!), just a bit less scraggly than I do without 🤷🏼‍♀️

CirreltheSquirrel · 01/10/2022 20:03

No, almost never. I'm not actually sure I have any at the moment. A bit of tinted moisturiser for bigger occasions is about as far as I go (if I remember to bring it home from work where it is in a drawer for meetings...)

AliasGrape · 01/10/2022 20:04

No, I wear a CC cream usually, foundation very occasionally- weirdly as I’ve got older I find foundation looks worse on me.
