Do you wear foundation on an "ordinary" day outside the house?

No - yanbu
Yes - yabu

Wondering, completely neutrally (each woman obviously should decide for herself). Obviously it's nobody else's business on an individual level, but I'm wondering whether more women do or don't statistically rather than about why individuals do or don't.

Yes every day, even if I'm not leaving the house. I look dreadful without foundation.

DoubleShotEspresso · 01/10/2022 12:45

Yes.
I did so daily all through lockdown too. Just makes me feel better and ready to face the day.
I'm also super pale so look I'll without foundation .

Hellzbellz25 · 01/10/2022 12:45

Nope, just moisturiser through the week and flawless filter at the weekends

CrapBucket · 01/10/2022 12:47

I'm very budget conscious/tight and other than curling my eyelashes and putting on mascara, I wear make up once in a blue moon.

On my zoom filter I go for the full works though. Skin, eyebrows, lips - I look amazing. Then I meet people in real life and they are confused 🤣

I don’t own foundation. I have dry skin and it looks awful with foundation on, it just emphasises the dry patches. I did buy a tinted moisturiser yesterday though. Usually I don’t wear any makeup at all but I want to start getting into it more.

StClare101 · 01/10/2022 12:50

No.

If I’m dressing up I wear a tinted, illuminating moisturiser. Otherwise normal moisturiser.

I also don’t wear eye shadow or blusher etc. I’m hopeless at putting it on.

buttergloss · 01/10/2022 12:52

Yes, pretty much everyday with the exception of illness or if I'm not leaving the house at all even then occasionally I do , just makes me feel 'awake' and ready , I have been wearing makeup since I was 13 so I suppose I have got used to that face more than an non made up one .

Shortkiwi · 01/10/2022 12:54

Yes and I think it’s protected my skin over the years as I’m told I look young for my age!

FFSandmoreFFS · 01/10/2022 12:57

No.
I probably wear make up about twice a year if at all…. reckon I’ve had my Dream Matte Mousse for a good decade now 🤣

VanishingViolet · 01/10/2022 13:01

That’s another good point about daily foundation wearing, mine has SPF 25, so does help to protect my skin.

I think many people think of thick, cake like foundation, there are so many light foundations on the market that even out skin tone and protect at the same time.

Nah, wish I could be bothered but I’m quite lazy about that kind of thing now, even though when I was a teenager/early 20s I wouldn’t have left the house without a bit of makeup on! If I’m going out - which is rare! - I put a little on but day to day no.

TheOnlyBeeInYourBonnet · 01/10/2022 13:06

Tinted moisturiser if I'm making an effort, otherwise just a bare face and maybe a dab of concealer.

35965a · 01/10/2022 13:07

I always wear spf though.

phoenixrosehere · 01/10/2022 13:09

Don’t wear foundation whatsoever. I rarely feel like it looks right on my skin. The last time I wore foundation was when my 7 yo was an infant and it was MAC Prep and Prime highlighter blended under my eyes and tapped on acne scars. Now, skincare, sunscreen (religiously), and lip tint and once in a blue moon, I add eyeliner and/or mascara to it.

LiveInSunshine · 01/10/2022 13:14

I used to in my 20s until my mid 30s, but nowadays it’s pretty rare I wear any make up. I find I look younger now without it.

Adelais · 01/10/2022 13:14

Yes every day. I have terrible skin so would look awful without it.

silentpool · 01/10/2022 13:15

I wear tinted 50+ sunscreen every day, a bit of bronzer, eyeshadow and mascara.

Thatboymum · 01/10/2022 13:18

I used to until covid hit and had no reason to and now it’s like a blessing in disguise because I no longer feel the need to wear it out with special occasions cause I’m confident In my own skin now. My skin has also dramatically improved too , I do still wear lashes tho and my brows are always tinted

CookPassBabtridge · 01/10/2022 13:23

Yep 😆😆 It's just part of my look to have makeup on. Don't care what anyone else does though!

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 01/10/2022 13:24

every single day I put on primer, foundation, mascara, blush and lipstick.

I have a face that resembles undercook pizza dough and needs to be coloured in.

TimBoothseyes · 01/10/2022 13:26

Yes. I have scarring on my face and forehead so use it to cover it...can't be doing with the stares I get otherwise.

Greenginghamdress · 01/10/2022 13:30

Yes. I wear full (but light) make up everyday.

OoooohMatron · 01/10/2022 13:31

Yes. I rarely go out without full make up and usually wear it even just at home, have done since about 15. Only exception is on holiday as it washes off swimming but I have lashes and brows tinted and fake tan before I go.

crosbystillsandmash · 01/10/2022 13:31

I wear foundation most days and even if I'm not leaving the house I'll put a bit of concealer, blusher etc on.
I've always been the same, even if I lived on my own and wasn't seeing anyone I'd still put make up on!

Mummadeze · 01/10/2022 13:35

I thought everyone wore it every day! I look much worse without it so wouldn’t consider not wearing it. I put on foundation, lipstick, blusher, mascara and eyebrow powder every morning which takes less than 5 minutes. And honestly, I look really natural. Just healthier and younger than I look naturally.
