Facial tattoos

I was walking in the park yesterday and a man in his mid 30's walked past with a little boy. The man had a few tattoos on his face and it looked awful. Not to drip feed but he was also shoutng and swearing at the little boy and although the boys mum was with him she just carried walking, butthats not what I'm talking about here. Does anyone like facial tattoos or am I being judgemental?

Wait until you find out about eyeball tattoos…

Ha! Yes indeed. So dangerous though! I can never understand people risking their eyesight in that way, just horrendous.

limitededitionbarbie · 30/09/2022 18:07

I'm not a massive fan on tattoos on your face because I think it can hinder you career wise and limit your opportunities sometimes.

I don't know anyone with facial tattoos either.

I wouldn't not employ someone because of facial tattoos.

The only one I can think of is the one from married at first sight. I think he'd be a dick with or without them.

girlfriend44 · 30/09/2022 18:10

Of course facial tattoos are awful do you need to ask?

BlodynGwyn · 30/09/2022 18:13

I wouldn't employee someone with facial tattoos because it shows bad judgment on their part.

The other day I checked on FB for my son's old uni friend. I knew his mother. It turns out he gave up his sensible career before it even got started, became a self-publishing poet, and a sex worker (he kindly gave the link so everyone could see the thumbnails of him in action) and got his face and neck tattooed.

😂 Nice try, OP.

I agree with you that there ought to be a law against facial tattoos, though. Or any tattoos, come to that.

For a long time, I thought they were illegal, but it turned out to be one of the many things my DM told me that were utter bollocks.

I hate them, but I also realise that's very judgey of me, and I try my hardest not to make assumptions about people who have them.

DrunkBetch · 30/09/2022 18:19

You sound really judgemental. There is a dad of one of my son's classmates with facial tattoos, he runs a successful local business and is a very nice man. It's not something I would ever do myself but each to their own.
The swearing is irrelevant if your issues are with the facial tattoos as you claim.

Facial tattoos are hideous. And I have no problem judging people who have them, as they clearly want to be noticed and commented on. Why else get a facial tattoo? I remember as an innocent teenager visiting my boyfriend in London, and him telling me not to stare at the punk on the tube with the green Mohican, multiple facial piercings, ripped clothes and chains. But really, surely anyone who makes themselves look so different from most other people is doing it to make a statement and be noticed? And with notice comes judgement. If people don't want to be judged, they shouldn't try so hard to stand out.

Or maybe people decide to dress in a way they like - which may or may not include dyed hair, piercings and tattoos.
Many people dye their hair, some people use more extreme colours than others.
Many people have piercings. For example, pierced ears are pretty commonplace, but some people have more piercings than others, in different places.
I'm sure when someone first gets their ears pierced it is because they want to wear earrings and not because they want to be noticed.

Whilst someone who looks different will draw attention, it isn't always about that. Sometimes it is just about being comfortable with who they are.

People get tattoos for lots of different reasons, personally I have a lot of tattoos including neck tattoos. How they would look to look to other people didn’t come into it. I got some of my arm tattooed to cover self harm scars and my neck tattoos to cover marks on my neck I didn’t feel comfortable with. I don’t like face tattoos but don’t judge individuals for their reasons for getting them.

Sarahcoggles · 30/09/2022 18:36

@RiftGibbon that's fine, they can appear how they like, I don't care. But just as no one can police someone's appearance, nor can they police people's reactions to that appearance. I am as entitled to my opinion on a tattooed face as the face owner is to tattoo it! And be honest, anyone who makes their appearance very different from the norm, knows they'll be stared at. They clearly either want the attention, or they consider it a sacrifice worth making to look as they want to. Either way, they can't expect no reaction at all. It's human nature.

Sux2buthen · 30/09/2022 18:39

A proper job is working for money, many with facial tattoos do so.

Face tattoos and neck tattoos, not the sort of person I would want to know

I have no problem with facial tattoos on other people (would never get them myself) their body, their choice. However (here's the judgemental bit) I think facial tattoos on most (not all) white people looks awful and is more suited to Maori and other Pacific Islanders. That's just a personal opinion though.

Mylittlesandwich · 30/09/2022 18:59

I have a horse in this race because I have a visible neck tattoo. I don't believe I am a horrible person. I have a son who I love and I always do my best to parent him well. I don't always get it right.

There are arseholes in the world. Some have visible tattoos, some don't. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I've seen them a d they're beyond vile. I'd be terrified of being blinded.

I'm sure people with face/neck tattoos must be full of regret that they've missed out on the chance to be friends with someone so shallow and judgemental.

I'm not a fan of facial tattoos personally, so I don't have them, but what other people do with their faces is no concern of mine. I know two people with facial tattoos, one is a social worker and the other runs his own business. Both kind, smart, funny men who are good company. Sad that people would write them off for such superficial reasons but maybe that's why they have the tattoos in the first place, to weed out the "sort of person" who would judge someone purely by their appearance.

DeeCeeCherry · 30/09/2022 19:48

A friend has facial tattoos. He had a rotten childhood with abusive, racist adoptive parents. I feel maybe its a way to somehow hide his real self but I will not judge him. We dont always know others' lives to the full extent so I'd rather not. To have parents like he had is scarier than any tattoo

That's what I'm asking , I don't know anyone with facial tattoos, I just wondered if it was a certain type of person.

Takes a certain type of person to be quite as judgemental as you OP!

DillonPanthersTexas · 30/09/2022 19:51

They look shit.

There is no link between the behaviour of the man you saw and his facial tattoos.

Under the job seeking group in UC, you have to prove you are looking for work for nearly 40 hours a week.
You can get away with less if you volunteer or have a sick note. No one gets a sick note for having facial tattoos.

daisyjgrey · 30/09/2022 20:02

Oh good. Another thread about how terrible visibly tattooed people are.

I'll take someone with a facial tattoo over a person in a pair of Hotter shoes and a waterproof coat any day. I've had considerably fewer issues with the former.

No but they probably know they would be turned down for a job in alot of places during to facial tattoos .

Search for jobs knowing they wont get hired, still claim money
