Facial tattoos

tillytoodles1 · 30/09/2022 15:40

I was walking in the park yesterday and a man in his mid 30's walked past with a little boy. The man had a few tattoos on his face and it looked awful. Not to drip feed but he was also shoutng and swearing at the little boy and although the boys mum was with him she just carried walking, butthats not what I'm talking about here. Does anyone like facial tattoos or am I being judgemental?

the two things are not mutually exclusive.
Ive witnessed many vulgar parents tattoo free and some of the sweetest, doting parents covered in ink.

Indicating that someone is opting out of society and/or has a mental illness in my experience.

And is quite determined never to have a "proper job" with any degree of responsibility or in any way customer facing.

Brieeeeeeeee · 30/09/2022 17:10

I don’t like facial tattoos but I’m happy to just not get one myself; other people having them is nowt to do with me.

People who shout and swear at children are despicable, though, no matter what they look like.

Facial tattoos look bloody awful.

That is all

I agree.
You will also be judged.

I’ve never come across anyone, retail, hospitality, office etc with facial tattoos. Actually I take that back I have been served by bar staff with them.

ScurryfungeMaster · 30/09/2022 17:14

I don't really see the problem, it's his face. I wouldn't choose to have tattoos on my own face but what other people do is up to them really. As for him speaking like crap to his son, that's not nice but I think it's a separate issue.

ItsRainingTacos79 · 30/09/2022 17:17

Ok, going against the grain. Facial tattoos can look intimidating, especially on a male, regardless of whether he's shouting or just calmly walking past. In and around Camden, I do see a few tattooed faces and almost always the person in question is someone who wants to draw attention to themselves, what's to look hard and wants a reaction out of people. They enjoy the ability to scare and intimidate.

"I've never been in a tattoo parlour so I have no idea of the rules"

@tillytoodles1 ok then 😂😂😂

Poster was being sarcastic, so was I.

'Butthats' 😂

Was scrolling just for this 😂

Antarcticant · 30/09/2022 17:29

At least face tattoos show some originality, unlike those samey tribal sleeve-tattoos so many blokes seem to sleepwalk into getting done.

Shouting at child = separate issue.

Judgemental much?

Beezknees · 30/09/2022 17:32

I'm very heavily tattooed including my hands and fingers. I don't have any on my face though. The people I know with facial tattoos are all self employed, I think facial tattoos can be a problem re getting a job. I don't associate facial tattoos with negativity though.

Beezknees · 30/09/2022 17:35

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 30/09/2022 16:33

😂 Nice try, OP.

I agree with you that there ought to be a law against facial tattoos, though. Or any tattoos, come to that.

You think there ought to be a law telling people what they can and can't do with their own bodies?

Beezknees · 30/09/2022 17:38

KassandraOfSparta · 30/09/2022 17:09

Nonsense. The people I know with facial tattoos are self employed with their own businesses. One is a barber, one a tattooist. Both very successful.

Suzi888 · 30/09/2022 17:39

I’m not in anyway against tattoos, an old boyfriend was covered in them- entire body apart from neck, face, feet. Worked in an office, he would’ve had the whole lot done of it wouldn’t have hampered his career.

HelloDoggy · 30/09/2022 17:40

I quite like facial tattoos. But in my experience they communicate quite a bit - usually something along the lines of "I'm vulnerable and I don't want you to come near me. So I'm showing you I'm hard. So you can fuck off. Then I'll be safe and you'll be safe and we can crack on".

toddlingtortoise · 30/09/2022 17:43

They look shocking on anyone. Don’t think though that they have any link to shouting at children

iklboo · 30/09/2022 17:44

I agree with you that there ought to be a law against facial tattoos, though. Or any tattoos, come to that.

Why is that?

rwalker · 30/09/2022 17:45

I know a lads who has a few he hates them biggest regret of his life

SiobhanSharpe · 30/09/2022 17:51

I thought many tattoo artists decline to do them as they can be a cause of much regret afterwards, particularly in younger people.
They certainly make a definite statement, not necessarily a positive one but that might be part of the appeal. Shrug.

OldTinHat · 30/09/2022 17:53

My psychologist has face tattoos and facial piercings. She's fabulous and very professional. And also has young children. Woo, she shouldn't be allowed!! *said with sarcasm!

Personally I dislike false eyelashes, botox, lip fillers - only 'certain type of people' have that done and they also have children, shock horror!

Looks and behaviour are not the same. Stop being so judgemental and narrow minded. Would you have commented if he didn't have facial tattoos but still shouted, or if he had facial tattoos and was buying his DC an ice cream? Nope, thought not...

marmaladepop · 30/09/2022 17:53

piratehugs · 30/09/2022 15:55

Must admit, I am quite taken with your use of the word butt-hats.

Seems like it's a typo - as in meant to say, 'but that's'

OldTinHat · 30/09/2022 17:55

Oh and said psychologist is employed by the NHS. Imagine!!

Sarahcoggles · 30/09/2022 18:00

Facial tattoos are hideous. And I have no problem judging people who have them, as they clearly want to be noticed and commented on. Why else get a facial tattoo? I remember as an innocent teenager visiting my boyfriend in London, and him telling me not to stare at the punk on the tube with the green Mohican, multiple facial piercings, ripped clothes and chains. But really, surely anyone who makes themselves look so different from most other people is doing it to make a statement and be noticed? And with notice comes judgement. If people don't want to be judged, they shouldn't try so hard to stand out.

Afterfire · 30/09/2022 18:02

Personally I can’t stand facial tattoos because I don’t like the way they look but I’d never judge someone’s character for it and it doesn’t automatically make them a bad parent.

My dh is covered with tattoos - literally covered, only his hands and neck are tattoo free because he works in a conservative, traditional office type environment and doesn’t want to annoy his old fashioned bosses (!) - but he is heavily involved with the tattoo culture and industry and is best friends with lots of well thought of tattoo artists, many of them have facial tattoos. They’re some of the nicest, gentlest people you’d ever meet.

SparklePopRampage · 30/09/2022 18:02

Wait until you find out about eyeball tattoos…
