Facial tattoos

I was walking in the park yesterday and a man in his mid 30's walked past with a little boy. The man had a few tattoos on his face and it looked awful. Not to drip feed but he was also shoutng and swearing at the little boy and although the boys mum was with him she just carried walking, butthats not what I'm talking about here. Does anyone like facial tattoos or am I being judgemental?

Don't be so utterly absurd.

No, the fact that you saw someone with facial tattoos shouting at a child does not mean everyone with facial tattoos is unpleasant. It means one man, who also had facial tattoos, was unpleasant.

I've met quite a few people with facial tattoos and none of them are aggressive, shouty, rude, thick or anything else. One of the graphic designers in my team at work has tattoos on her cheeks and forehead. She's lovely, really sweet and kind. The artist who did my own tattoos (mine aren't on my face) has lots of tattoos on his face and head, and his wife has facial tattoos as well. His wife's an occupational therapist I think - something in that field anyway. Last time I had an ear piercing done the piercer had a lot of face tattoos as well.

I personally wouldn't have tattoos on my face, and I sometimes I don't like the way they look, but it really depends on the tattoos and the face. My work colleague's face tattoos are really beautiful. She's got quite delicate, elfin features and her tattoos really complement her face and her overall look and style.

i kinda agree OP, it does seem to be that in some cases those that get them have more issues going on (from rough backgrounds, for example). but i'd try to reserve judgement until I'd seen evidence of crap behaviour from said person. which you did see!

You can only have a facial tattoo if you have a criminal record, you have to present evidence at the tattoo parlour or they will refuse.
Surprised you didn't know this.

😂 Nice try, OP.

I agree with you that there ought to be a law against facial tattoos, though. Or any tattoos, come to that.

I think for me it would be a combination of the tattoos plus the demeanour and clothing the person was wearing as to whether I assumed "thug" or "fan of edgy fashion".

I've known/met a few people with facial tattoos.

One was an employee and she was a lovely girl. A little dim, had had a hard life, but in no way a violent or dangerous person.

The others have all been tattoo artists with tattoos most places and have all been really nice. Those I've met whilst in tattoo shops so the face tattoos didn't lead me to make assumptions.

Someone shouting at their child I'm going to judge regardless of how they look. But a tattooed face wouldn't help my opinion at that moment.

Loads of people make style choices that I think are unattractive or even ridiculous. But it doesn't really say anything about their personality or character. I really don't get the current trend for long fingernails, for example, but I don't make a moral judgement on those who choose to have them.
Maybe a good time for some introspection, OP.

What a silly post. I know plenty of people (mainly tattoo artists) who have facial tattoos. Pretty much all of them are happily married with children and as of yet, I've never seen any of them being abusive in the park (or anywhere else).

Facial tattoos aren't my cup of tea but if people like them and are in a line of work where they're acceptable, then that's their choice. It doesn't automatically make them a bad person.

I'm not saying you should approach shouty man in the park but you should try being less judgemental and getting to know people who are "different" to yourself. You'll probably find that they're not so different after all.

I've never been in a tattoo parlour so I have no idea of the rules.

My own mother has a facial tattoo
Was I pleased when she got it absolutely not! I was 16 at the time I was mortified.
Dose it make her shout no it didn't 😂
She also has a well paying job and been in employment the whole time shes had it.
I'm not a fan of tattoos atall but I personally wouldn't judge somebody for them.

What was it, and where on her face?

I don't particularly like tattoos. And I don't like shouting and swearing. Facial tattoos and bad behaviour don't go hand in hand though. Why would it?

Personally I don’t like tattoos on face, neck or hands but I’m not going to get a tattoo on my face, hands or neck so that’s fine. Other people can do what they like.

Ha ha…good one.

My husband’s friend is a tattooist…works in a reputable studio who refuse to tattoo faces at all. They simply say no, if you want a facial tattoo please go somewhere else. They don’t want any part in being someone’s regret.

That's what I'm asking , I don't know anyone with facial tattoos, I just wondered if it was a certain type of person.

Don't be so bloody ridiculous.

I have a friend with face tattoos and he's one of the most gentle mannered people I know. He's also a father, and is way more patient with his children than I am with mine. And for the record, I don't have any tattoos on my person.

Depends what they are and who they are on.
I like Malli Malpass and think his tattoos suit him. I really like the one across the bridge of his nose.

However, in this case, the issue seems to lie with the man's behaviour. He could be tattoo free and still be a prick to the child.

My dh wants a facial tattoo but I’ve convinced him not too.

I like tattoos. I have tattoos. So does he. But it does impact on your employment in certain areas.

The only time a tattoo should be facial, is when it’s cultural. Such as the Māori

OK, I was just asking. I'm not a "massive twat" as I've just been called I was asking a question, but apparently I'm wrong. If you were an employer, would you give a job to a white man with no obvious cultural reasons if his face was tattooed?.

If he was right for it, yes

My nephew has lots of tattoos, including several on his face and neck. He also plays in a punk band who regularly do fund raising gigs for charity, fosters cats and spend a great deal of his furlough time during lockdown delivering shopping and supplies to people who were unable to go out.

I don't like tattoos at all but I'm free to have my opinion - I don't treat people any differently - at a school I worked at for a short time one of the parents - the father (I assume) was covered in them - all over his face and skull - he was a total sweetheart so - you'd be wrong to assume or think anything in particular about anyone with them. I never asked him about his ink.

A man was shouting and swearing at a child and your first issue was with his facial tattoos? Give your head a shake.
