AIBU to not have the 4th covid jab ?

I've had all my covid vaccines up to date. I also had covid a few months ago.. I think I can get the next vaccine too if I want it. I was a bit surprised to be invited again..

Covid was just like a cold for me.

I'm 35, have MS ( not on any medication and I don't really have any symptoms apart from fatigue ). So no disability from it, no trouble walking or anything in my body- except fatigue.

I don't really want to have another vaccine. Is that unreasonable ?

I'm pregnant and my midwife advised against it.

I always thought the medical advice for pregnant women was to take the vaccine? Or has that changed?

Srx1 · 29/09/2022 22:33

@HousePlantNeglect thank you for that link. I am so torn! I spoke to my midwife and she just gave me some facts for both sides, hasn't really pushed for anything

@SwordToFlamethrower Can I ask why, what did she say?

PuzzledObserver · 29/09/2022 22:37

I’ve had Covid twice - once before vaccination, the second time was last month. Second time I didn’t feel any more or less ill than the first time, although my temperature was higher, but I got over it much more quickly.

I’ve had the two initial jabs plus the booster last year - all Pfizer, all with minor side effects of feeling a bit ‘off’ later in the day, then fine by the next morning.

I’m going for my 4th tomorrow.

A friend had hers a couple of days ago and says her arm is extremely sore. She had the Moderna one, having previously had AZ. So I’m hoping I don’t get the same. Although tbf I used to get a really sore arm after the flu jab, but I still went for it every year - and the past few years haven’t been as bad.

So while I wasn’t seriously ill either time I’ve had Covid, despite being high risk, I was out of action for a good while each time. I’d rather keep that shorter than longer, if I do catch it again.

Scianel · 29/09/2022 22:38

I've not had any covid vaccines at all.

Desiredeffect · 29/09/2022 22:42

Nope I don't blame you. I've decided I'm not getting it and been invited as I work in social care and work are trying to encourage us to get the 4th. I decided not to have it as had bad reaction to all 3 I've had.

olddustbag · 29/09/2022 22:42

I also like to travel a lot- so vaccination is pretty essential to avoid either not being allowed in or paying hundreds each time for testing.

Your midwife is an idiot and should be reported

Scianel · 29/09/2022 22:45

Why are you being rude to me?

TheHateIsNotGood · 29/09/2022 22:46

Had my 4th a few days ago - Moderna and had a sore arm for a couple of days, all Pfizer before. After my only bout with CV19 in July I've no prob getting jabbed, it could have been worse if I wasn't fully vaxxed, but who knows really.

For vax side effects Pfizer #3 was the worst for me, if involuntarily falling asleep for several hours is a bad thing.

I'm not sure I understand the rationale for having 3 jabs but not the 4th, can anyone simply explain it for me please?

paintitallover · 29/09/2022 22:48

I had Moderna and was fine.

Jknow · 29/09/2022 22:48

How the tables have turned on MN from lynching anyone who was anti getting the jabs 😂

Anotherguy · 29/09/2022 22:01

Anyone not taking the vaccine is extremely arrogant, medical advice is to have it, by ignoring that you are basically saying you know better than the medical profession, absolute arrogance

Coo-eee !

Waving my arrogant wave!

My 70 year old Mum just had her latest jab and she is floored by it.

I've had Covid twice. I am immuno compromised. I haven't had any vaccine.

I'm worried about my Mum, I've never heard her sound so poorly, so you can just do one with your preaching without evidence thank you.

Nope. Pregnant women who catch covid are at increased risk of miscarriage and of dying during the third trimester and so are advised to vaccinate.

Handsoffmyrights · 29/09/2022 22:54

No YANBU. Not getting my 4th. Had Covid twice now.

Oh haha you are so right.

A few months ago my non jabbed self was off to Asda, killing my local population off one by one. What people didn't know, was that there is a Waitrose 2 minutes away!

I strolled round spreading the only thing I was willing to spread...
My unvaccinated breath.

It would be quite handy if you could wield it as a superpower actually 🤣

Two and done.

Same. I did the first two out of peer pressure, I've put my foot down.

Clarabellasingsthisbit · 29/09/2022 23:00

DH and I had our over 65's Moderna booster last week, and had the 'flu jab in the other arm at the same time.No real side effects this time, apart from two very sore injection sites which made it difficult to find a comfortable side to lie on in bed!We both felt quite unwell within hours of receiving our first dose in February of last year, but haven't experienced any side effects with any of the boosters.

GreenFly56 · 29/09/2022 23:00

Never had any of the covid jabs. Had covid twice and on both occasions felt like i had flu for 2 days and stayed in bed, then felt fine.

By all means, take the jab if you want it but dont let yourself be forced into it if you feel uncomfortable.

bippityboppity87 · 29/09/2022 23:03

I just got my letter today for the beginning of November. Covid and flu jab. I'm in two minds about it. I'm 35, wii But I've never had covid afaik (maybe because of the vaccines? I really don't know!) I've had the flu twice in my life. The last one being January 2017. Lasted about two weeks and my temp reached a height of 40° Something I'll never forget. So obviously don't want that again. I really don't know

bippityboppity87 · 29/09/2022 23:05

Sorry posted too soon. The middle jumble bit was meant to say I'm 35, with no major health conditions, but enough to make me eligible

BogRollBOGOF · 29/09/2022 23:06

I've got no high risk factors and have felt worse from the vaccines than the actual illness! That's not a great selling point. Neither was getting Covid 2 weeks after the booster.

As things are, the vaccine primed my immune system to cope with the virus which it does now. It's not novel anymore and exposure to it in society will keep my immune system up to date.

People are free to accept/ decline as they wish and others will have more benefit to maintaining vaccination than me and that's their choice.

colouringindoors · 29/09/2022 23:06

Every incidence of Covid in an individual increases your odds of long covid/permant damage to your cardiovascular/pulmonary systems.

Very close friend of my family, 2 out 5 have long covid. Dad badly affected re work, dd2 yr11 on reduced timetable.

Knock yourself out.

MargeSampson · 29/09/2022 23:10

Yanbu. I've had no covid vaccines, waste of time and money.

colouringindoors · 29/09/2022 23:11

Oh and I had Covid Dec 2020. Pre vaccines and lots of "don't go to hospital" messages. Seriously ill. My sense of smell and taste still has not fully recovered. Look at Long Covid on Twitter. And then decide.
