AIBU to not have the 4th covid jab ?

I've had all my covid vaccines up to date. I also had covid a few months ago.. I think I can get the next vaccine too if I want it. I was a bit surprised to be invited again..

Covid was just like a cold for me.

I'm 35, have MS ( not on any medication and I don't really have any symptoms apart from fatigue ). So no disability from it, no trouble walking or anything in my body- except fatigue.

I don't really want to have another vaccine. Is that unreasonable ?

I was swayed to Moderna, until your last comment!

I mean technically, the immune response I had will mean I am ‘covered’ now it was just not a very nice week of experience!
the side I had it, all the lymph nodes were swollen, headache, shivers feeling rough and then I think I caught some unrelated lurgy and it prolonged it

Sooverthisnow · 29/09/2022 22:15

I’m not having it. Every injection has made me ill, worse than when I had Covid itself.

Anyone not taking the vaccine is extremely arrogant, medical advice is to have it, by ignoring that you are basically saying you know better than the medical profession, absolute arrogance

I'm arrogant as all get out then. I've had none, caught covid from my friend in November, was fatigued with an odd smell of burnt plastic for a week. It was worse than the cold but easier than the flu. I'll take my chances. And medical advice was to take all sorts in the past that then changed. Medicine is not all powerful and all knowing.

Melodiax · 29/09/2022 22:15

I've only had 2

I think a lot of people will be choosing not to have it , i've not had any boosters and won't be either

UrsulaPandress · 29/09/2022 22:16

@Menora

Wiped me out for days.

melafixer · 29/09/2022 22:17

If I knew I could have the Pfizer I might have #4.

The AZ ones wiped the floor with me so I’d prefer to swerve anymore of those. The Pfizer jab affected me not one bit.
(or is that not how they work?!)

But I also think - is there any point? I’ve had it twice, 2nd time was completely unremarkable. 1st time hellish, both before vaccines…

I also have severe long covid, and as a group we seem a bit more sensitive to vaccines?

Hibye23289 · 29/09/2022 22:18

I haven't had any jabs. Covid is at it's lowest number, most people have had it and they now want you to have a 4th jab, just a load of rubbish

clovid · 29/09/2022 21:24

Don't they say generally it's supposed to be milder if / when you get it again ?

A colleague has just had it for the 3rd time and was hospitalised- the 1st 2 times were fine- I saw him on zoom throughout the 1st time

olddustbag · 29/09/2022 22:19

Im 52 and having mine on Sunday

thegreylady · 29/09/2022 22:19

I had my 5th today. Previous all Pfizer but todays was Moderna. I had it at 4pm so we will see what tomorrow brings.

The message out is that having different vaccines is useful to stimulate immune response but I don’t know if this is scientifically correct... but it’s the stock answer to the question 🤣
They are both mRNA

I believe they may have more moderna in stock than Pfizer at the moment and Pfizer is a PTA with mixing up so some sites might prefer not to use it, so it might not be that accessible

I had all Pfizer’s before then a moderna which wiped the floor with me!

Pfizer bivalent doesn’t need to be reconstituted like the original Pfizer. It comes ready to use so won’t make any difference to the workload.

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and I don't know if I should get it.
The day after my very first dose last year I got a random period. The second dose and booster all was good. But now I'm worried about any potential reactions to this updated, moderna vaccine . I also don't want to get covid.

I was a bit nervous but every pregnancy I’ve had the whooping cough and flu vaccine without giving it a second thought.

I found this helpful.

I had my fourth jab earlier this week - Moderna bivalent. I also had the original Moderna as my third. I found them both absolutely fine, I just had a sore arm for a couple of days. I am used to the concept of annual vaccinations as I have had the flu vaccination for 20 years (I'm asthmatic). I had flu twice pre jabs, and I certainly want to avoid it again.

The only vaccination which gave me bad side effects was the first AZ - that was quite unpleasant.

Obviously don't have it if you don't want to, entirely up to you - but don't assume the Moderna would be awful.

(The vaccinator tells you what type you had, but if you don't hear what they say it's also stamped on the card they give you afterwards.)

As far as I know I haven't had Covid, but I don't test regularly so I could have had a very mild version without realising.

DotBall · 29/09/2022 22:20

I’ve had 6 jabs now and covid once (in hosp briefly and then off work for 2 months). Just a sore arm (Pfizer) and a mild headache (Moderna, latest one) that's all.

Am immunocompromised and feel I ought to keep getting them, but even I’m getting vaccine ‘fatigue’ now. There is SO much covid around our area at the moment but it mainly seems to be like a very heavy cold/chest infection for the people I know.

ilovesooty · 29/09/2022 22:22

I had the 4th one a week and a half ago.

Your choice.

LozzaChops101 · 29/09/2022 22:22

I’ve had three jabs so far and no covid, despite working in retail all the way through. My periods and migraines got so much worse in the time span correlating to the three jabbings, and I’ve felt increasingly horrendous after each jab that I’m also thinking about not having it. I’m 37.

Davros · 29/09/2022 22:26

I'm 62, have Scleroderma and have not had Covid so far. I had my 4th jab today and no effects at all, not even a sore arm. I did see Keir Starmer walking past the centre as I was leaving, so I could have been hallucinating, but he replied when I said hello so I think he was real

Porcupineintherough · 29/09/2022 22:26

I've had covid 3 times - twice before being vaccinated and once after. After vaccination it was very mild and I'd like to keep it that way.

How do you know covid is it its lowest number?

Hate to tell you but cases are now rising and we are starting to get patients in hospital again. We are scared of patients getting flu and there being lots of extra pressure on a very sick NHS.
But your choice - just don’t delude yourself that covid has gone away - it hasn’t and is constantly changing. I will be getting the 4th jab - had covid for 1st time this summer and felt lousy

SwordToFlamethrower · 29/09/2022 22:28

I'm pregnant and my midwife advised against it.

sleepwouldbenice · 29/09/2022 22:30

I will have it

In general I follow medical advice not the internet

It's good you've asked theMS society but both my friends who have MS have been told starkly the opposite

DementedPanda · 29/09/2022 22:30

I've had 3 jabs, had covid twice. The second time I was so poorly and I'm still not right. I'll be having my booster as soon as I'm 4 weeks clear. I'm classed as cv.

DontTrustThisPoster · 29/09/2022 22:11

I didn’t even have the first one, so certainly won’t be having a 4th 😂
