To ask if you've had the heating on yet?

I had mine on for an hour yesterday to "test it out", as we'd just moved in the summer, not used it yet and had the boiler serviced. Even that made me feel a bit guilty, but it felt good as yesterday was a chilly one! I've never really felt that guilty about having the heating on, at least not before this year's price shit show.

I know hardcore MN will be holding out until November...

YABU No, I've not switched my heating on
YANBU Yep, I've embraced the toasty money pit!

Nope , normally put it on in October but sure we can go a bit longer yet . We have fluffy duvets which are sooooo lovely do not cold once in bed and got throws dog and DH to keep me warm on the dogs in the evening . Ds and DH really don't feel the cold .

I6344 · 29/09/2022 08:19

I've been putting it on for around an hour in the mornings as it's so cold. I feel the cold very easily so even with lots of layers, blankets and a hot water bottle I'm still cold 🤣

HappyPeach · 29/09/2022 08:21

There'll be no heating in my house all winter this year, so I'm enjoying the slight chill because this is the good bit.

Strugglingtodomybest · 29/09/2022 08:23

Surely it's dependent on where you live? I'm in Cornwall in a south facing house with large windows, last night was the first time I closed the bedroom window because it was a chilly.

user6497219 · 29/09/2022 08:25

Yes got it set at 20C from 6 til 10 in the morning and 20C from 5 til 10 in the evening.

Sunnyqueen · 29/09/2022 08:25

I'm ashamed to say I have yeah. Only for an hour on 2 days but I was determined to make it till at least October!! In my defence I'm a cold person (anemia and awful circulation)

Folklore9074 · 29/09/2022 08:25

Had it on as normal. Got a baby, a chest infection and endless piles of washing. It’s also wet and cold! Bit worried but what can you do, eh?

columbo83 · 29/09/2022 08:25

Yes. Currently on now. Never have it on overnight.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 29/09/2022 08:27

Yes, I put it on yesterday evening because I was cold and I couldn’t get warm (I have severe heart failure so really feel the cold)
It was lovely getting up to a warm house this morning ( heating on 2 hours morning, 3 hours evenings). Now to train DH to keep the doors and windows shut 🙄

KangarooKenny · 29/09/2022 08:27

Yes, heating is on now. Slight frost on the cars yesterday so I feel justified !

berksandbeyond · 29/09/2022 08:30

We always try to get to the 1st of October. It's 18 degrees in our house right now so not terrible but starting to become tempting to put it on

PatientlyWaiting21 · 29/09/2022 08:31

Yep it’s on a schedule, been on the last few weeks, we have a baby, it’s not an option not to hear, or thankfully it’s one we can (just) afford.

danadas · 29/09/2022 08:35

I'm constantly boiling so sitting here now with the patio and back doors open to try to cool down. 😫

The rest of the house feel it though so I don't open doors until they have left for the day. We haven't had heating on of an evening yet but there has been a couple of mornings it has been on for thirty mins or so because my OH really feels the cold.

Panicmode1 · 29/09/2022 08:37

Not yet - and then I had an email saying I could reduce my direct debit to Bulb because I'm overpaying...!

ListenLinda · 29/09/2022 08:41

A couple of times this week in a morning, it’s been 16 degrees in our kitchen so just to take the chill off. Haven’t needed to in an evening yet, but that will be coming soon I would think.

I’m in ‘the north’ and it’s been 6-8 degrees outside some mornings.

Dotjones · 29/09/2022 08:42

No of course not, it's not even October ffs! Heating doesn't go on during BST.

User135644 · 29/09/2022 08:43

BakedTattie · 29/09/2022 07:50

Yep. We’re in Scotland and it’s been like November the past couple days. not freezing but wet and miserable

Can't believe how cold it is for September

AriettyHomily · 29/09/2022 08:44

SE, had it on for an hour the last couple of mornings, not needed in the evening yet

Doingprettywellthanks · 29/09/2022 08:44

In the lovely SE
people out in shorts and t shirt yesterday!

Sunny and mild with an edge.
No heating on, not close

rubydoobydoo · 29/09/2022 08:44

Not yet - it was 15° in our front room last night, I'm trying to acclimatise! I've had my thermal base layer and battery powered heated socks on, also have a heated throw but not plugged it in yet so I think I have the capacity to last a bit longer yet.
I have awful circulation and my extremities are always freezing anyway, I've been telling myself the heating won't change that anyway.

Dimsumbun · 29/09/2022 08:44

First time was last night, thermostat is set at 18 so it clicked on, I think the temp was 7 degrees outside. It’s come on this morning. We usually have it set at 19.

PaperPalace · 29/09/2022 08:45

Not yet, it's 17 degrees here at the moment but I don't feel the cold too badly.

MikeWozniaksMoustache · 29/09/2022 08:46

Not yet. Currently 15.5 in the warmest room but absolutely cannot afford it. One year old is wrapped up in a big fluffy dressing gown. I’m in fleecy pjs but don’t need anymore really. It’s cool but not bitter. It’s supposed to warm up a few degrees next week which will help us prolong it. I feel the cold more in the mornings so if we get through the mornings we’re ok. Evenings are just spent under blankets so don’t really feel the need for the heating, but might be turning it on soon just in the babys room.

generalh · 29/09/2022 08:46

Not yet; we have used our log burner twice.

Scoundrella · 29/09/2022 08:47

Nope. Ours is set to come on at 15. I don’t really feel the cold and the heating triggers my migraines if it’s too warm so we avoid having it on if possible.

invested in thermal socks for everyone, new blankets and got DH some thermal long johns & picked him up some thermal
top in B&M yesterday
