Well, I knew that already, but every day she shocks me with the heights her deluded self-confidence goes to

Liz Truss had to be convinced to issue statement amid market turmoil after mini-budget

I should think the discussion of scrapping environmental laws would also be interesting. It's indefensible and Charles is an environmentalist who knows his stuff

I thought that was one of her first announcements .... "I'm Prime Minister (mini orgasm) and I'm willing to made difficult decisions (for you, and easy decisions for me and my chums.) As Prime Minister (mini orgasm) I'm cancelling the moratorium (in your area, not mine) to open up the Ponzi Scheme aka FRACKING .... As Prime Minister (full-blown orgasm) I am content this is the right thing to do (for me and my chums) ...."

She's an ideologue with whom there appears to be no reasoning. Even more dangerous than Thatcher, imo. What Thatcher did was financial and emotional damage to the population. This one, Truss, is willing to ruin the environment to the extent healthy life (for humans and wildlife) may not be possible.

She'll get through this by reversing the tax-cuts for the better off. The goldfish populace will focus on that, laud her, and forget about every other single thing she's done, and is intent on doing, to damage the people.

As pp said: Buckle up folks.

On a complete tangent, I think she's got some sort of private bet with someone as to how many times she can verbally confirm herself as Prime Minister in interviews per day. I'm basing this on having dated a tv personality and having a private joke with him about how many times he could include whatever I'd identified as word of the day in his onscreen work .... 😉

I think it will take a long time for people to forgive the Conservatives.

I think about this quite a bit. I grew up in the 90s and through that whole time there were parts of the country and society that held such hatred for the Tory party.

I used to think it odd and perhaps a bit unfair: afterall, by the time I was old enough to be aware of it, the people who had done most of the things they were angry about had left politics. Towards the end of the decade they weren't even in power. I could 'get' why people didn't just listen to each party's manifesto and pick the one that suited them the best. Choosing fresh each time based on the current promises etc.

I never got it.

I am now a lot older and have seen the last 12 years firsthand. I get it now. Rightly or wrongly, it'll take a number of loooong years before I get forget what I've seen this crowd of fuckers do and I feel like forgiveness may be beyond me.

THIS.

This is one reason why I don't buy the line about being kind and understanding to all the poor "sensible" Tory voters who just wanted a decent reasonable leader like Boris and have now been saddled with a level of Tory abuse that nobody could possibly have expected!

The Tories have ALWAYS governed for the ruling class and not given a shit about anyone else. The only difference between one generation of them and the next, or between various individual prime ministers etc. is how much they think they can get away with. They need a certain number of people from outside the ruling class to vote for them and governing, for them, is a simple equation of how much it costs to win the votes of those people (taking into account all the help of media brainwashing etc.) Anybody who could look at Boris in 2019 and convince themselves he wasn't cut from that cloth is practising a level of self delusion that could only come from being personally, deep down, seduced by that as a valid attitude to government.

I too remember what you say about the 90s - things were very polarised. For anyone vaguely progressive, walking into a room and admitting that you voted Tory was pretty much like admitting you were a child molester. THAT was one version of the Overton window that we seem to have forgotten: that it's possible for people from the centre to the left to reach a broad consensus about a certain place on the right that is "beyond the pale". That is populated only by people who really don't give a shit about rising numbers of homeless, child poverty, freezing cold houses for the poor and a disintegrating NHS.

That's part of why Blair won a landslide in 1997 - because enough people agreed that the alternative was outside the boundaries of acceptable humanity.

I've signed it. Currently at 72k signatures. It needs to get to 100k signatures. When was this petition started? I'd like to share it as much as possible if there is hope?

“That is why no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party that inflicted those bitter experiences on me. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin”

There will be no landslide, not least because of Scotland. But for the first time I am having to admit that the Tories might not win. How they could fuck up so badly (and unnecessarily) to achieve that is mind boggling.

I think they know they have lost the next election and are making hay whole they can.

This is Britianna Unchained in its full glory. Brexit was just the first step to enable this to happen. To be fair they didn't hide any of it, it was always the plan. Also to be fair Sunak warned that all of this would happen if Truss got in. So Tory party members can't say they weren't warned.

Or as Alastair Campbell said "Britannia Unhinged" 😀

Here's Liz singing before she got to PM. She hungers for something and what she hungers for isn't fucking healthy. I've seen people in psychiatric hospitals who are not in as dire need of therapy as Liz is.

I suspect that she has Daddy issues. Apparently her father doesn't get on with her. She has issues which make her a broken person. She is cold, callous, entirely devoid of humanity and entirely devoid of empathy. She is not terribly clever (Oxford is a questionable institution).

I'm trying desperately to see any redeeming qualities to her. I'm struggling.

Dave20 · 28/09/2022 21:56

Cut taxes for rich people, borrow unprecedented amounts of money that will take years to pay off, in turn taking money out of public services.

Yeah great economics!

the80sweregreat · 28/09/2022 21:58

They are now saying there isn't a crisis.
Head in the sand politics.

Fishfingersandwich707 · 28/09/2022 22:07

They have also just negated decades of of Tory policy about austerity and "keeping within our means" and there being "no magic money tree" by borrowing more money when our deficit is already enormous. These were all given as reasons as to why we shouldn't vote for Labour. Tories were meant to be all about fiscal responsibility. They don't have a shred of credibility left.

Dave20 · 28/09/2022 22:08

As long as a few millionaires get richer , to hell with everyone else with higher interest rates!

The Tories need to be stopped. The Bank of England can’t even believe what they’re seeing..

One of my favourite songs ever Elvis sang it at his last ever concert when he was dying, morbidly obese and barely able to function it's at the end of the Baz Luhrmann movie. You're probably right she's one fucked up cookie for sure.

Exactly this! And then they go to the magic money tree because they don’t want to tax businesses!

She could do 'I'm caught in a trap, I can't walk out, because I love you too much baby!'.
I wonder could we ask her Daddy to give her a hug and say 'well done Liz' or something?

MrAutumnal · 28/09/2022 22:21

Petition signed. ✅

MrAutumnal · 28/09/2022 22:24

Daddy is not saying well done. Daddy (maths professor?) can probably actually add up incoming tax vs outgoing expenditure and I believe is quoted as saying he is disgusted and shocked at her right wing policies as she was raised in a v liberal household.

Could we petition Daddy to be nice to her and she might stop acting like a psychopath?

vera99 · 28/09/2022 22:30

Elvis would have called her ma'am because he was a gentleman and a giant to a human being. She's just a poisonous troll, drunk on her own ambition. History if it ever remembers her will be as a dirty smear on the fabric of time devoid of all humanity or emotion. Hopefully to be forgotten and confined to the dustbins of history. Turns out Teresa May wasn't a bad un after all - I probably would have got on well with her on a desert island and we could have built a shelter and maybe a raft together. Whilst Truss I would either have to live on the other side and ignore her and not share my fish or more likely brain her with a rock and spend the rest of my days regretting it. But only slightly !

MrAutumnal · 28/09/2022 22:38

@Heswipedright

I think we should try. Always Daddy issues isn’t it.

Do they not do at least basic psychometric testing to be PM?

Dave20 · 28/09/2022 22:45

Both of those were mostly competent. They lacked charisma, but they were decent and in the job for the right reasons. Far from the worst we've had.

For me Boris' worst sin of all was the way he destroyed TM and her perfectly good Breixt deal just to further his personal ambitions.
