What you and partner do that others would find gross

Inspired by the peeing in the shower thread, where apparently it’s gross to share a towel (I disagree). Are there things you and your partner do that might be considered gross?

In my house we have multiple toothbrushes and my husband and I just use whichever one (ie we share toothbrushes).

However, we’d never wear outdoor shoes in the house, nor would outdoor clothes be allowed on or in our bed.

Surely EVERYONE farts openly around their partner once the relationship is long-term?

One reason I’d hate to find myself single and dating again is the initial not-farting stage of a relationships which is hard work. Nobody can keep that up for years! No one.

Together years. Married. Have DC.

Neither of us do this.

Just curious....if you don't wash your hands often, change your sheets regularly, wash your jeans, use your DP toothbrush, share the bed with your animals, etc, did your household get covid? It would seem to me that you should have an incredible immune system since you're regularly exposed to germs.

It has been said that the Western world is much too clean...think about when there was no indoor plumbing, etc. People have been surviving for centuries without being so clean.

I share my bed with my dog and let him lick my plate clean after I’ve eaten sometimes. I wash his bowl in the same washing up as the stuff I eat with. I haven’t had a stomach bug since 2009 and I didn’t get covid until Christmas 2021 (I wasn’t very strict with hand washing during lockdown either, obviously I always wash them after the toilet but I didn’t disinfect every time I went in or out the house. I used public transport a lot in 2020 too).

I got throw about 25 posts and I can't do anymore.

I really hope most of this thread is bullshit.

Through.

No excuse for that one!

Getting into bed with my outdoor clothes

MacarenaMacarena · 27/09/2022 10:44

Every few days we switch off the hot water timer and don't shower that day. Saves water and fuel. Obviously planned for a day we haven't been doing sweaty or dirty jobs!

Someone was grossed out by a pp washing a towel with snot on it in the washing machine ? Why ? How many of us have washed tissues by mistake ? And when I was growing up we all used proper hankies (Mum even ironed them) I really don't understand why snot would be more disgusting than any of the other bodily secretions the laundry contains

I regularly end up washing panty liners and see them stuck to the washer door 😂

Flymyway · 27/09/2022 12:48

I'm one of the filthy non hand washers.
I can't remember the last time I was ill.

Flymyway · 27/09/2022 12:49

Germs are good

CatchersAndDreams · 27/09/2022 17:38

I wash my hands and I never get ill 🤷‍♀️ still not had covid!

Flymyway · 27/09/2022 12:49

Germs are good

Wallowing in your own germs 'may' benefit you.

I doubt, though, they have the same 'beneficial' impact on anyone handed a sandwich by you.

Quite the reverse, actually.

CookPassBabtridge · 28/09/2022 13:44

Very very easy not to fart infront of people 😆

Not washing hands is common.. I'm out and about all day and I'd say 10% don't wash hands in public toilets.
I'm a support worker and have to remind my members to wash sometimes, as they approach me with their post poo hands 🤢😂
But the funniest bit is that they then start telling strangers who walk out without washing "you haven't washed your hands!" and they are always mortified and come back to do it..

Bite nails and use the them for picking teeth

procrastinatingloser · 28/09/2022 20:28

Bite toenails! And chew them

I do this too. Only if I am somewhere where there's no chance of happening upon a more suitable tool.

CoveredInCobwebs · 28/09/2022 21:31

It's funny what different people find acceptable isn't it?

I'm a bit of a hygiene nut in some senses (no shoes in the house, hate outdoor clothes on the bed, change sheets weekly, wash clothes and pyjamas daily) but not at all in others (couldn't care less about pee in the shower, know the cat goes wherever he pleases and don't really care about that either...)

LT2 · 28/09/2022 21:39

Share bath water
Not cleaning our bed sheets often enough
Share our bed with our cats
Fart in each other's company
I go to the toilet with the door open

BusyBeaMe · 28/09/2022 21:40

Why can’t you just wait until they’re finished in the toilet to chat?! What’s so urgent?!
weird!

Mothership4two · 29/09/2022 03:29

Why are people shaving their bums? Are they hairy? Minds aboggling

Mothership4two · 29/09/2022 03:45

@KittyCatsby

@Trez1510

I'm a cat mumma , but pleased to inform my cat has her own food bowls but even those are not even washed at the same sink as I wash ours , they are not wiped dry on tea towels but kitchen paper ( and no I don't blow my nose in them afterwards.)

Luckily she's a bit dim and hasn't worked out to jump / walk on the kitchen worktops.

We do the same with cat and dog bowls and their food fork. All kept very separate.

We have had six cats over the years and none of them ever jumped up on worktops or tables even if there was food left out. We never did anything to "train" them not to do it. They were all rescues so maybe they are/were just too grateful - yeah right 😀

We try to keep the cat and dog out of bedrooms but they have free reign over the chairs and sofas. On rare occasions they use their own beds

Before we had our dog I would avoid 'dog friendly' accommodation but now we have to use it, I have to say there doesn't seem to be any difference in standards

Trez1510 · 29/09/2022 05:00

@Mothership4two

I hear you re holiday accommodation in terms of standards. I also hear you about how diligent you are in terms of dogs' utensils - as are members of my own family who have dogs. However, a quick look at this thread will confirm not everyone has that diligence, so the idea of using a plate that has been licked by a dog turns my stomach - no matter what temperature it has been washed at!

I didn't know cats did 'gratitude' .... I thought they expected 'you' to be grateful for them allowing you to be their human/slave! 😛

xams · 29/09/2022 05:54

Well.. we share towels, share drinks, food etc. We pick spots, cut toe nails, clean ears, I trim his nose hair.. farting and burping is normal for us.. we give them a score based on sound and smell 😂 we sometimes give each other cupcakes, where you cup your fart and throw it in each others faces - we're gross!
We don't share toothbrushes but would in an emergency.
He gets in my bath water, but I shower most mornings so not really dirty and he's covered in oil, dust etc from work - I wouldn't get in his bath water though!
We wee and poo with the door open but don't sit with each other.
Dog goes on the bed and bowls go in the dishwasher!
I thought we was pretty normal, but we're clearly absolute mingers!

Allow "outside clothes" to touch things inside our home.

It's a wonder we're still alive.

Surely nobody sits and chats to someone wo is having a shit - that's disgusting! The bathroom door is firmly shut when I am in there Grin

Both of my dds will chat whilst on the shitter, the other day my youngest video called me while on the loo 😱 My DH only ever shuts the door when he's having a poo if he's knows I'll catch him, he keeps it open apparently as the cats like to go in there with him!
@VegMam dh & I share bath water but I always make sure I go first! 😂

Can I reignite this thread? I'm a newbie, so unsure of the rules around dead threads, but feel compelled to share my own gross habit! (Apologies in advance if reawakening a thread is not the done thing.)

My wife and I (we are both women) share knickers. OBVIOUSLY only once they have been through the washing machine, so they're clean, but still...I admitted this to a friend once and her response made me feel mortified, so I've never told anyone else! 😬
