To hope that we welcome men fleeing Russia

Many are fleeing Putin's Press Gangs.
The EU Council President has recommended that the EU offer them asylum.

It must be bloody terrifying and, although we're not in the EU longer, I hope that this government follow his example and offer sanctuary as we have done for fleeing Ukrainians.

I know that they will be young men and not need to live with families in the same way that Ukrainian women and children did so although that would be ideal, it's not essential and hostels/hotels could be used.

Will you offer a home if asked? I can't but I would like to help in some way.

Not a fan of Navalny, but saying that I was not talking about him, I was more referring to people still protesting, still being beaten up and still being told that they are not doing enough.

Calling them the orc population is probably the most racist thing I've ever read on here. Smearing a whole country's people who live under totalitarian rule as subhuman. That's how ethnic cleansing starts other a population as something less than human and then it makes exterminating that much easier because they're basically vermin. Shocking stuff for this forum tbh.

It is sad and shocking. Some people should travel a bit. They will find humans are the same everywhere. Some good, some bad. Nobody is bad because of their nationality or ethnicity. And wherever there is war you will find war crimes.

Indeed, but as with the Chinese and middle eastern regimes, these are the people to whom we've sold so much in the vain hope they'd "play nice" once we'd secured the infrastructure we wanted, be that gas, the financial future of some wretched football club or whatever

For some it'll be a bit late to realise this now, but sadly the whole situation was thoroughly predictable
