I found all the explanations in square brackets irritating - couldn’t they leave people to Google things if they needed? Hope the book has footnotes instead.

I was out last night and happened upon this. Ashamed —not ashamed— to say that my friends lost me for 20 mins while I read this. It’s wonderful.

I like the part where the doctors work themselves up for the big question: how was that scene filmed of him falling in Die Hard?

I saw him playing Hamlet (twice!) and even better, in Tango at the End of Winter at the Edinburgh Festival in 1991. He was mesmerising.

I loved his turn in the music video for “In Demand.” I read that he and Sharleen Spiteri became good friends after they filmed it and my god that petrol forecourt Tango is one of the most sensual things I’ve ever seen!
