I know I’m not being unreasonable at all. Made me love him even more. What a loss.

I had no idea. Will pre order now. Thank you.

TinyLittleBug · 24/09/2022 23:45

I will definitely buy this! Such a phenomenal actor. I never watched him in Die Hard and thought “that’s Snape!” Or watched him as Snape and thought “that’s him from Love Actually!” He absolutely was ever role he played. Amazing in Robin Hood too, as the Sheriff of Nottingham. But I will always love him the most for playing Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility.
What an actor.

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 24/09/2022 23:46

I saw him trending on Twitter earlier and that's never usually good news so I was thinking "Oh gawd, what" 😭😂 and cautiously had.a peek
Phew and didn't realise it was possible to love him anymore but it seems it is 😁
Throwing shade at Boris Johnson was like "yessss mate!" lol

One of my first ever crushes as a teen

Same. How I envied Winslet.

VanillaSugar2022 · 25/09/2022 00:07

Thanks OP. This is my Christmas present sorted. And what beautiful handwriting 😍

CuriousMama · 25/09/2022 00:13

Anyone know who Ruby is he collected from the priory?

StClare101 · 25/09/2022 00:14

He was wonderful as Colonel Brandon. I’m still beating a grudge on Emma Thompsons behalf for his foolish move on Love Actually 😂
Do we know if he actually wanted his diaries published?

CuriousMama · 25/09/2022 00:14

Just realised 🙈

AnneShirleysNewDress · 25/09/2022 00:15

@CuriousMama Ruby Wax I assume. Thanks for sharing this OP. I hadn't seen this. Such a talent.

Publisher Canongate has acquired the rights the actor’s diaries, which will be published as The Diaries of Alan Rickman in autumn 2022. Rickman began writing the diaries by hand in the early 1990s, with the intention that they would one day be published

It's brilliant! I think I first saw him in An Awfully Big Adventure. Went in to the cinema fancying Hugh Grant, came out a woman.

I love this.

I think I read that he had recorded his diary as well whilst alive.
Not 100 per cent sure on that though so don't quote me on it! Trying to find a link for a source now

Vecna · 25/09/2022 01:34

Amazing. I read it in his distinctive voice. I'd pay a fortune to hear him read it for real. And he's exactly who I hoped he'd be.

VoiceOfCommonSense · 25/09/2022 05:23

It’s not as good as Anne Franks

I love that he queued for book 7 for an hour and then had a word with the manager Grin

merrymelodies · 25/09/2022 07:15

Reading them made me miss him all over again!Sad

picklemewalnuts · 25/09/2022 07:23

Thanks @EineReiseDurchDieZeit ! Feel a bit slow now!!

NorthernChinchilla · 25/09/2022 07:25

This made me think of my late Mum and (her best friend) my Auntie Jane. They were both HUGE fans, as was I (and God yes to Robin Hood- I may have fancied Christian Slater but could tell even as an 11 year old that AR was fabulous).

My Auntie Jane bumped into AR in London in the local shop, had a chat, swooned. She never let my Mum forget it, and don't think my Mum ever forgave her Grin

itsnotdeep · 25/09/2022 07:27

Oh I loved this too and I loved him.

I didn't realise he recorded the diaries!
