Whilst you took older child to nursery (takes 3 minutes) ? Car is right outside and locked..

Personally, I'd leave a sleeping baby in an unlocked car in nursery car park to drop an older child at the door. I might even leave a car door open. I probably wouldn't leave a sleeping baby anywhere where I felt, for security, that the car had to be locked too.

I wouldn’t but the other week I stopped my husband from doing just this so we disagree. I won though!

Louisa259 · 23/09/2022 20:08

No in that situation I wouldn’t. On my own driveway or in a nursery car park where I could see the car at all times then yes.

Norma27 · 23/09/2022 20:14

Absolutely no chance. Cars by me have been stolen or carjacked in less time than that with babies inside.

GeneralSOneill · 23/09/2022 20:25

Yes. I did. And awake but not crying.

@YellowTreeHouse I'm showing lack of judgement because I let my baby nap in a different room ? With a camera on them ? My poor children.

I'm sure the SS would take time right off me and put them in care. Get a grip !

Fair enough about to leaving him in the car, even though, I still think the risk is TINY. I will not do it again.

But napping in a different room ?? Come on.

It's the risk of fire that would do it for me I think as I've known this to happen in real life - weirdly, also know of a case where car was stolen with two children inside.

What age is baby? If less than a year but especially 6 months they're meant to be in the same room as an adult when sleeping to reduce risk of cot death.

I saw a woman leave her newborn in the car while she went into a local spar. I was gob smacked. For me the worry is that something happens to me, no necessarily the car. Say I collapse/ heart attack / anything. I get rushed into and ambulance. No one would know the baby had been left.

Get a grip! 🤦🏻‍♀️

If you were alone in the house with the baby, and collapsed, had a heart attack, anything. You wouldn't even get an ambulance, would you? And the poor baby would just be left fending for themselves. Maybe you need someone else with you at all times just in case of emergency!

Heartbreaktuna · 25/09/2022 09:57

@DuesToTheDirt i hear what you're saying. But in that case you'd have the baby with you in the same house surely? In a shop no one would know if you drove or which car was yours.

Yes, but it could be hours, or even days before anyone thought to check on the missing mum. At least if it's in a public place, the baby may be spotted quicker, or they get medical help quicker, so mum is capable of alerting others to where her baby is

The baby is spotted quicker? After everyone is talking about blacked out windows.

If I was leaving my nursery child at the door and could see my car yes I would.
However, I wouldn’t do it with my grandchildren as I feel even more responsible for their safety if you see what I mean..
