Tomorrow at 11… every tv channel that exists will be broadcasting the Queen’s funeral.
Except Channel 5.
If you tune in to Channel 5 on Monday at 11 you should expect to see the Emoji Movie.
hilarious or not?

OP don't make sense, it's not on all channels apart from channel 5

Namechangehereandnow · 18/09/2022 21:21

So … channel 5 is not cancelled …
genuinely don’t understand your thread 🤷‍♀️

Cancelled is the new boycott, used by teenagers or those trying to keep young.

NotBadConsidering · 18/09/2022 21:57

And here we have it, the reality of being “part of history” that people are so desperate for, the Government has imposed, and people are missing out on a day’s pay and important healthcare appointments for:

A day of deciding what to watch on the telly and how to keep kids from getting bored.

I will be binge watching Ozark. If I didn't have Netflix, I'd be watching Channel 5.

God save the King.

God I love Ozark. I'm on the final season last few episodes and I'm going to be gutted very soon! Best thing I've watched in ages

User1754983 · 18/09/2022 21:59

House of the Dragon will be on our TV as the next episode will have dropped overnight

cakeorwine · 18/09/2022 22:00

Well - ITV is definitely showing it. On all its channels. Even the obscure ones.

Normally it's Channel 4 that does this kind of thing.

Ladyofthelake53 · 18/09/2022 22:01

I think I will just go out.....

QueefofSheena · 18/09/2022 22:02

The world has gone fucking mad.

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/09/2022 22:04

That is hilarious!

sky is showing the funeral or something about HMQ on every single channel. Movies, sport. Everything. I am actually shocked at that, more so than every terrestrial channel bar C5.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 18/09/2022 22:05

The emoji movie was the worst film ever made.
At least its not one of their documentaries for the hard of thinking. Or for a band where they can't play more than 20 seconds of their music.

HebeMumsnet · 18/09/2022 22:05

Evening, everyone. To avoid confusion and national panic over the supply of true crime dramas and Home and Away, we're going to change the thread title. Hope you don't mind, OP.

Kendodd · 18/09/2022 22:06

What a shame!
Channel 5 is always my 'go to' channel for breaking international news coverage. I find the standard of journalism there is without equal . Might have to watch on the internet now.

The part of history where hundreds of world leaders come and pay there respect, one day of healthcare is not going to make up for the shutdown for effective 2 years and if your main issue is keeping your kids entertained for one day whilst the 'adult' chanels are showing the funeral then that says more about you than what you are wanting to rage against. Unless you child is a lover of daytime tv it isn't really an issue

Bunnycat101 · 18/09/2022 22:12

I don’t understand why every channel has to basically show the same thing. Surely bbc 2 could out some gardeners world or something a bit calming on rather than just broadcasting the same as bbc1. 5 would probably do well out of being different if they had gone for some decent films.

Im sure I’ll dip into the funeral and see a bit of it but I certainly wouldn’t want my children watching non-stop funeral commentary for hours on end. I don’t think it’s particularly good for anyone’s mental health. and surely after 10 days of fairly constant coverage, there just can’t be much more that can be said. Thankfully we’ve now got Disney plus and Netflix so we will at least have the choice.

Florenz · 18/09/2022 22:14

Are Babestation really showing the funeral? Will they have the "babes" doing commentary?

No, my issue is the only way normal people can be part of history is by watching hours and hours of tv, most of which will be commentary on nothing actually happening.

My point is, I would love to see some acknowledgment from all those who justified a last minute imposed bank holiday that the reality is it’s going to be a very, very long boring day at home. Not some emotional “part of history” day that everyone is fantasising about.

mynameiscalypso · 18/09/2022 22:20

Some of the threads on here at the moment are a good argument for capping the length of time that a monarch can serve. If we were more used to the role changing every 20 years or so, people may not have lost their minds so much.

Rummikub · 18/09/2022 22:26

Oh no I cba with that.

it would cost lots if additional al costs.

it was her longevity that makes the queen different.

on another note the queen of Jordan is 52!

LimpBiskit · 18/09/2022 22:33

I've not had live TV for a couple of years so no issues for me.

I agree, but it is from both sides of the spectrum, there is just as much hyperbole from the republican side

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 18/09/2022 20:29

Channel 5 is the biggest load of crap going. I dont even watch their crap budget Christmas films , a single woman moves to a new town with her child she meets a builder/ bookshop owner / coffee shop assistant who gets her name wrong all the time ..meets single / newly widowed dad ...insert rubbish story line here .... when they fall In love after much anst and live in a picket fenced home, drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows and Christmas twee nonsense wearing Christmas jumpers giggling while watching their child/ren and shes probably up.the duff .. rinse and repeat

@HaveANiceFuckingDay Loved your description! My favourite kind of movie! 🤣💕

MyneighbourisTotoro · 18/09/2022 22:57

Well schools are closed and it gives the kids something to watch, not everyone is going to be watching the queens funeral.

I’ve just looked and all the itv Channels are showing the exact same programming from an hour’s time! Itv 1-4! Ridiculous.
