To mow the lawn tomorrow?

I planned to do it today but it’s raining. I’m not going to do it during the funeral but would I be unreasonable to do it later in the day tomorrow?

I'm planning on mowing tomorrow. It doesn't prevent other people from watching the funeral and with their windows shut and the tv on they won't hear me anyway. I can't quite believe how this has completely over taken the country and i say that as someone who likes the Royals (well most of them).

WTAF? Confused

Caroffee · 18/09/2022 21:20

I'll definitely be mowing my grass tomorrow.

There's nothing wrong with mowing your lawn tomorrow. But YABVU to do it between 11am and 12.30pm when you KNOW it's the Queen's funeral then. Doing it then is just provocative, and is very goady behaviour towards your neighbours.

Why tomorrow?

Caroffee · 18/09/2022 21:23

I'm someone who purchased quite a lot of jubilee memorabilia and yet the 'world must stop because the Queen has died' mentality is almost making me anti-Royalist.

Scrambler4 · 18/09/2022 21:23

Go ahead. You’ll still be mower ning .

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 18/09/2022 21:24

There are a few people on here who are determined to mow their lawn tomorrow. If you are planning on doing it during the funeral, I hope none of your neighbours speak to you again, because it's just disrespectful and goady towards your neighbours. What are you trying to prove exactly?

I haven't heard a soul say the world must stop. You just made that up. But mowing the lawn during the funeral is just pathetic and attention seeking behaviour. As I said, what are you trying to prove? It's very childish behaviour too.

gnilliwdog · 18/09/2022 21:26

@XenoBitch This covers noisy DIY and acceptable times, stating Sundays and Bhols are for emergencies only.

Get some respect and common decency.

My neighbours don't speak to me anyway... and if they want to shame me on Whatsapp or whatever, then that says a lot more about them than me.

They need to visit a Grip shop and spend some serious money there.

Yep. Pretty much what I thought ... Doing it purely to annoy neighbours. Utterly pathetic, attention seeking, childish behaviour.

That council link above means drilling and really loud diy noise not lawn mowing

🤣🤣🤣🤣

People who want to watch the funeral can. To say it's disrespectful to go about normal life if you don't want to or, like me, you need to do some actual work is fucking absurd.

I agree. If someone is outside doing the garden etc it has no impact on others indoors watching tv. Live and let live.

It's just got beyond a joke now and I suspect people will look back with a "what was I thinking".

People do things differently. And that's ok.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 18/09/2022 21:30

I think you 'I will mow the lawn when the Queen's funeral is on cuz I can - so THERE!' posters are up waaaay past your bedtime. Off you pop now. Get your jammies on!

user1497787065 · 18/09/2022 21:31

It would most definitely be commented on in my village.

We had a mention on the village FB page for
Cutting ours at 6pm on a Saturday whilst a neighbour was enjoying a G and T in the sunshine. We were considered to be rude and inconsiderate to others.

User1754983 · 18/09/2022 21:31

It's all a bit like the Covid times again

70billionthnamechange · 18/09/2022 21:32

I'm confused

gnilliwdog · 18/09/2022 21:33

What's the issue with asking neighbours if the noise will disturb them? Most likely it won't but it's obviously polite and considerate. Maybe my neighbour is not unusual in thinking he will make as much noise as he likes with no thought of anyone else.

User1754983 · 18/09/2022 21:33

Villages are odd anyway with regards to this sort of thing, I don't use Facebook or WhatsApp so no idea if our town has a page telling you what to do, I doubt it does
