To mow the lawn tomorrow?

I planned to do it today but it’s raining. I’m not going to do it during the funeral but would I be unreasonable to do it later in the day tomorrow?

OP posts:

Crass 😂😂😂😂

So you think it's appropriate to mow a lawn on the day our Queen is laid to rest? The rudeness on this site amazes me.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/09/2022 15:38

Unless the op is mowing, "Not my Queen" into the lawn, it's fine. Settle down.

Anniegetyourgun · 18/09/2022 15:39

My thoughts on the matter:

Making lawn mowing noises during 1 minute silence = not on IMO. You can surely at least pause for a whole minute?

Making lawn mowing noises during televised funeral = depends on whether it will impact neighbours trying to listen to the proceedings. A little consideration costs nothing.

Making lawn mowing noises at any other time of the day = Please yourself. If they don't like it, tough.

HandbagsnGladrags · 18/09/2022 15:39

My gardener friend is working tomorrow, no doubt cutting hedges with a noisy tool.

You do realise some people are sensitive to cut grass and it may disrupt them watching the funeral of our Queen. The selfishness is off the charts.

This is a joke, right?

I don't joke in a period of national mourning.

So it's not the noise of the mower but the possibility of the cut grass triggering people's hayfever, and them sneezing through the funeral and spoiling their enjoyment that worries you? Interesting theory.

Unglamorousgranny · 18/09/2022 15:47

We should have gone home from our holiday on Saturday, but thanks to the extra bank holiday we've stayed on another couple of days. We'll be driving back when the funeral is on. No guilt here, weather has been fantastic today, take advantage of the weather while you can & watch it later!

duckme · 18/09/2022 15:48

I'm sending my husband out to do ours tomorrow! The lawn has gone wild and the bank holiday has given us an unexpected extra bit of time to get some jobs done!

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 18/09/2022 15:50

Really can't tell if @Carpy88999 posts are serious or a joke.

Anyway OP mow away. Everyone grieves in their own way. Maybe keeping your garden neat is your outlet. Or maybe just cut your grass when you've been given an extra day off because it needs done.

😁

Very funny. Well played.

FelixDoublyDelicious · 18/09/2022 15:51

This place is nuts.

I am going to be going about my normal business either inside or outside of the house

Get a grip

Its not lockdown (and that was also nuts)

😀

Popaholic · 18/09/2022 15:53

Mow your lawn. My 4 y.o. isnt going to watch a funeral all day! We will be "noisy and disrespectful" all day long I'm afraid.

Eeksteek · 18/09/2022 16:00

I’m on the fence. I think there is some sort of rota here, as there is always, ALWAYS someone mowing a lawn somewhere, and as I’m very sloppy with mine, it’s not usually me shattering other people’s peace, so it would be nice not to be on the receiving end for once!

OTOH, despite not watching for various practical reasons, I’m not a complete dick and am generally happy to respect other people’s beliefs, even I don’t share them. Spose I’d better go and do it now, then.

rumbypumby · 18/09/2022 16:01

Absolutely not.

HairyMothballs · 18/09/2022 16:02

Really? Do whatever you like tomorrow

XenoBitch · 18/09/2022 16:05

Do what you want. You are on your private property.

Atmywitsend29 · 18/09/2022 16:08

Yanbu to mow your lawn.
Yabu to ask.

Konfetka · 18/09/2022 16:15

Completely unreasonable to even contemplate mowing the lawn on a Sunday.

Spanielsarepainless · 18/09/2022 16:19

Out of consideration for people who may be watching the funeral, perhaps not between 10.00 and noon? Some pillock here has been using an electric saw to cut plywood for hours. If he starts tomorrow, the neighbours are going to gang up on him and castrate him with the bloody thing.

This place is insane.

It is getting that way, for sure.

Persuasion14 · 18/09/2022 16:36

To mow or not to mow, that is the question. I have some other questions: Why are our brains so utterly controlled by the media? Why do we fear stepping out of line, being policed by our neighbours, and how much of our time is ruled by FOMO? How much of social media consumed and regurgitated ends up dictating our thoughts, wishes and actions?

Elfen · 18/09/2022 16:41

I have a severe allergy to cut grass, so I'd say no, but I'd say that any day not just dead aristocrat day.
