To hope that this is the end of Holly & Phil on This Morning?

Absolute backlash on Twitter as it emerges that Holly & Phill queue jumped to see the queen at her lying in state. Lots of comparisons to Beckham and memes about we skip any queues.

The This Morning office has put out a statement saying they are attending in their capacity as broadcasters.AIBU to hope that this is the end of shrieky Holly and slimey twat Phil?

Beckham doing whatever it takes to get that Knighthood! All credit to him though for not taking the easy (fast-tracked) route. I cannot imagine that had VB been with him, she'd have been up to mixing with the masses or standing in a queue for all that time.

Not only has he lost his squeaky, high-pitched voice over the years but he sounds a lot less obviously born and bred Londoner than he used to. Think he's been having elocution lessons!

TroysMammy · 18/09/2022 08:56

I don't watch the programme but whenever I see PS on the tv or hear his voice on radio I can't help but shout out "fuck off Philip". It's going to be my undoing one day in public.

100%

But what’s wrong with wanting a knighthood? Is that a character flaw?

mydogisthebest · 18/09/2022 08:57

Anything they supposedly filmed will now be shown on Tuesday so a bit late in the day to be talking about the queue and the lying in state.

Cameras are not allowed in the Hall so if the filming bit was outside why not film them actually queueing like most of the rest of the people there? It would have made a more interesting story, they could have chatted to others in the queue although they probably both think that would be beneath them

Allergictoironing · 18/09/2022 09:00

Not the only famous sportsperson in the queue, Dame Kelly Holmes was there too and you can't say she was there for publicity for an honour as she's already a Dame.

Maybe the various "celebrities" in the queue were there for the same reason that all the other people were, to pay their respects to a great monarch. And queuing is sort of part of that - I heard on the radio someone saying it's like an old fashioned pilgrimage for many.

mydogisthebest · 18/09/2022 09:02

Not sure I agree that David Beckham did it for publicity. When he was in the queue he had a cap on pulled quite low so I think he was trying not to be recognised.

I am not particularly a fan of his but I do feel he genuinely wanted to pay his respects and to queue like everyone else and not use his fame to queue jump

LadyHarmby · 18/09/2022 09:04

The oddest thing about Beckham is that he was on his own. No sons, family or friends wanted to go with him?!

So true

laying in state

Is that what the royal chickens do when they die?

OrangeFlowersAreLovely · 18/09/2022 09:10

Can't fucking STAND them. They are attention seeking and so unprofessional. Smuggy McSmuggerson and Miss Giggly. No.

I agree. They spoke to Kelly Holmes on woman's hour the day after the queen died and she seemed genuinely upset. She was talking about times she'd met the queen, how thrilled she was, how much she liked her etc.

I obviously don't know why Beckham was really there, but I don't think there's any particular reason why it can't have been for the same reason as everybody else.

Bretonbear · 18/09/2022 09:10

Phil has disabled his comments on Instagram but Holly's seem to be fair game.

Bet there is sadness over her cornflakes this morning.

Couldn't happen to a nicer pair of smug entitled idiots 😂😂

vera99 · 18/09/2022 09:13

They only did it to take the heat off Harry and Meghan holding hands. It worked 😂

I had high hopes that all the talk of lying in state might knock the laying error on its head for good and people would stop talking nonsensically about laying on the sofa and having a lay in.

Those hopes are being dashed.

Of course you can, haven't you heard of catch up TV. Tbh your post comes off as smug

I don’t work f/t and have only seen H&P once on This Morning.
It was a piece where they had a wheel and Holly started dancing
I had no idea wtf was going on. Why was a 40 odd year old woman dancing around? What was the reason for it? Why did it look 🤮

Apart from the vomit factor there was something very very off with the whole segment. Almost throwing crumbs to the peasants vibes.
I had to turn it off

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 18/09/2022 09:13

waited in the que

And this sounds like something from Fawlty Towers.

Don't know about "Holly and Phil", but they sound like entitled twats. If you're mad enough to want to "que" for 24 hours, that's up to you - but quejumping (wooh - neologism) is even worse.

vera99 · 18/09/2022 09:17

When Liz Truss gets back to work (I know it's a tall order) top of her in-tray should be a Prime Ministerial Statement on the terrible two. Maybe they should be exiled to a cabin at Centre Parcs for a week with no room service and folk could queue up to see them imprisoned in their lodge. I'd queue up for that but no more than 4 hours though.

Bretonbear · 18/09/2022 09:17

That spinny wheel game where they were offering to pay energy bills is so crass. They'll be offering food bank delivery slots next week at this rate.

Seriou · 18/09/2022 09:24

Holly should have distanced herself from him just like Gordon did years ago.

We haven’t seen much of Gordon since though though have we…..

LinMortisanass · 18/09/2022 09:24

Discovereads · 18/09/2022 00:15

Phil I don’t mind as he’s pretty ancient. He’d probably faint if he had to stand for more than a couple of hours. Holly is young and physically fit, she should have been in a the queue.

He's really not ancient. I was looking at the live feed last night and there were many older people, some walking with 2 sticks, some getting out of mobility scooters to stand up and bow. It was quite moving actually. There's no reason at all why P and H couldn't queue.

Likeimaliveagain · 18/09/2022 09:25

@Seriou She’s no angel though either…

Hotandbothereds · 17/09/2022 23:33

Funny how the statement says they were there on a press pass but we haven’t seen other tv presenters doing the same?

Surely if there’s press accreditation they haven’t given an exclusive to This Morning for inside the laying in state, have they??

Sarah Vine, columnist in the DM, got a fast track pass, along with other journalists and "VIPs."

As Adam Hills said

There's apparently a sub-set people out there who adore the royal family but don't like it when rich, privileged people get special treatment."

Brilliant
