To hope that this is the end of Holly & Phil on This Morning?

Absolute backlash on Twitter as it emerges that Holly & Phill queue jumped to see the queen at her lying in state. Lots of comparisons to Beckham and memes about we skip any queues.

The This Morning office has put out a statement saying they are attending in their capacity as broadcasters.AIBU to hope that this is the end of shrieky Holly and slimey twat Phil?

Ar least they turned up.....thousands of other celebs haven't gone and no one is slating them....

Fucking hell! It's not a requirement to go!

Unless they were spotted by a photographer plenty of famous people probably have gone.

The giggling idiots were likely only there because they were told to be but I don't see that the public need to see their pathetic take on the lying in state, especially when it is not going to be shown until after the funeral. What exactly is the point of that when the news has been covering it and we can, if we want, watch the live feed.

In my view a better story would have been to queue in the proper queue and speak to the people queueing. I personally would not want to watch that but I guess many would.

fiftiesmum · 18/09/2022 15:20

Surely the public have realised that the media types (including people from MNHQ) can queue jump for all sorts of events and then use it all as copy for their next 3,000 word piece. Compare that to the career journalists sent to Ukraine and Syria.

No one is slating thousands of other celebs because they haven't gone is the best argument yet 😂😂😂😂

I am glad I haven't seen any of my favourite slebs there!

The thing is, the Queen lying in state will be old news come Tuesday. All the coverage will be with about Monday's funeral.

The story about coverage for Tuesday is bullshit, made up by ITV as damage limitation.

Tomorrow will be the largest gathering of current and former world leaders and diplomats this decade. Maybe even this century. Perhaps even in history.

Are they really saying there won't be enough content for a programme so they need this filler?

It's going to stick out like a sore thumb. A whole programme on the funeral, the royals, the public, the clothes, the seating plan. And then a 10 minute segment on Holly and Phil queuing up to see the Queen lying in state. There'll be no coverage of the inside of the building as it's not allowed. So it'll be them stomping up to the doorway, striding past everyone else.

You can see it now. Tuesday's This Morning. Phil with v serious face, Holly looking on a bit teary, both still dressed in black. Phil will immediately explain any misunderstandings surrounding their going to the lying in state. Hmm

Holly will explain. Phil is too much of a coward, and far too arrogant. He'll stand next to her in silence with a scowl on his face while she does all the talking.

When Holly has finished, he'll make a jab at the public for complaining.

Same thing happened when they had that game the other week where one of the prizes was payment of energy bills. It was rightly criticised (especially as on the same programme a few years previously, they both posed for a selfie with Boris Johnson) but the day after, when they changed the prizes in response to the criticsm, he had a go at those who called it out. "Let's see them find something to complain about now".

He's not a nice man.

Please God spare us from more people in the queue being interviewed. It is so cringe making to listen to the reasons they are there and all the friends they've made.

Of course some people might like it just like some people might like listening to PS and Holly whatever here name is.

Do you think they set up the game? Paid out of their own pockets? All their own idea? I don't think presenters do all that, they present as the title suggests.

I hope you're right and it will all disappear after tomorrow. I have a horrible feeling we have more days to go as it is all reviewed, rehashed and reshown.

Sparklingbrook · 18/09/2022 16:46

I think it seems about 6 weeks since the Queen actually died, the rolling news about it just, well, rolls day after day when there's nothing even happening.I hope things do return to normal quite soon after the funeral. Enough of the 24/7 waffle already.

No they won't have set it up but they can make a choice about doing it.

So should they resign or wait to get dismissed for failing to do their jobs?

I'm not sick of the sight of them as I've never watched their programme. Please don't speak for me.

PuppyMonkey · 18/09/2022 17:02

I’m intrigued now about what the segment they allegedly filmed for Tuesday will be showing. That statement says they didn’t file past the Queen… I don’t understand what they did then?

Bretonbear · 18/09/2022 17:08

ancientgran · 18/09/2022 17:00

They should maybe mention to the production team that it is bad taste.

Why are you acting like their unison rep?

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 18/09/2022 17:09

With all due respect @ancientgran if you’ve never watched the programme then you now nothing of the gruesome twosomes antics.

I agree with other posters this rankles because we are sick to the back teeth of them.

Why are you commenting on a bit of the programme to me then if you've never watched the programme?!!!!??

PortConvert · 18/09/2022 17:24

Why are This Morning officially denying it? It is what it is.

How can they say they didn't jump the queue or have a VIP pass when that's exactly what they did/had? It doesn't matter whether it was for the programme or not.

It's indefensible.

MissMaple82 · 18/09/2022 17:29

Yes I do, I loathe the pair of the annoying bastards. They are so obviously fake!

sweatervest · 18/09/2022 17:34

but with all this queue jumping going on the viewing numbers for tuesday's this morning will probably be loads higher.

superplumb · 18/09/2022 17:59

Discovereads · 18/09/2022 00:16

I agree. But apparently it’s athletes who compete solo who get them instead of the ones who compete with a team.

I think the leaked emails he wrote about believing he thinks he should get one because the charity work he did to get one speaks volumes. In other words, he did the charity work to get one, not because it was a decent thing to do
