To think Prince Harry should now do whatever it takes to cancel his book contract?

And withdraw his book?

A rapprochement looks possible if he meets the RF halfway.

There will always be another person who is willing to listen. As my dear old mum says, if you've nothing nice to say, then say nothing. Wash your dirty laundry in private. And be happy with what you've got.

I couldn't care less if they are in public eye or not. That's their choice and right. But stop moaning !!! They live a charmed, v wealthy life, and the time M was in the RF was v limited in her 40 years. Go do something positive and stop talking about others who aren't there to rebut.
I bet the whole RF is terrified that anything they say will be used in Oprah part 2.

I must say if any criticism is warranted it's this. Meghan is an intelligent woman, but I wouldn't say a wise one. I truly don't get how M&H do not understand the basic principle that it is not them, but what they represent and the institution they are affiliated with that imparts their mystique, their power, their fame.

When you air dirty laundry intentionally in public be justified and appear to denigrate the very think that makes you noteworthy, by extension you diminish yourself, your own power, your own mystique.

It's literally like attempting to poison someone by lacing their wine glass with poison. Then using the same glass to pour yourself a new drink.

I really really don't get why they don't understand this. I think Meghan does a lot of performance theatre with her actress background. The holding hands is an intentional thing for example. All good.

But then the constant bashing of the RF so that people lose respect for the very thing that you are trying frantically to trade on? Your children's legacy? That you are claiming is diminished because they won't receive titles.... yet you are diminishing yourself... makes absolute zero sense. It's not a clever move. Be a malevolent royal woman with power by all means - not enough of them in history. But be an intelligent one. She has echos of some of the foolish female royals in history.

I can only assume it's because they've had an American PR firm managing them. They need help.

This is very much a royalist’s perspective - power, fame, mystique? The Renaissance is calling and wants its concepts of monarchy back.

They are a hugely wealthy family of very bogstandard ordinary people. Spoilt, dull, stupid, with very poor judgment, and petulant to boot.

Who says they can’t be criticised? I criticise them myself. Massively over-rated, over-publicised, overblown. Partly by members of the public who think that the royalty lark makes them special. It doesn’t, it just makes them deluded.

We executed one King Charles 400 years ago and they’re still bloody here.

Well you are demographic that H&M are appealing to.

The problem is they don't realise that's what they are doing.

What about a royal prince appeals to the demographic of republicans? 🤣

Do you grasp what republicanism (not the US variety) implies?

But in one word: Precisely.

Well it is obvious that a certain demographic in the media have rallied round M&H. Republican, anti Tory, anti Brexit and UK bashing. I see it on Twitter all the time. They use the 'ill treatment' of M&H as a way to get at the above. An example of this is James O'Brien

I read it perfectly well, but it’s not Republicans who are interested in H&M it’s simply younger people perfectly sympathetic to the monarchy. It’s actually the rest of them that fuel republicanism.

I wish you put a disclaimer that these links are to the Daily Mail site. I wouldn’t have clicked on them if I had known. I know it’s a free country and all, but I don’t think majority of right-minded people should visit such sites, the more people who read, click and spread tabloid stories, the more it gets published because it shows that that is what the general public wants or is interested in. Hopefully, the tabloids will slink away and usually move onto another target to feed and create a baying mob.

HRTQueen · 18/09/2022 18:19

more concerning is the largest most read online paper is even in this time trying to stir up anger towards H&M

its utterly disgusting but they know what gets to many of their readers

im glad they are being called out for this

I would imagine he’s just inherited rather a lot of money form his Granny so he shouldn’t really need the money from the book. So yes he should stop it.

Not everything is about money though, is it? Maybe he just wanted to tell his side of the story. We have no idea what happened. If he experienced some pretty hideous racism for the first time in his life for example, and it was directed toward his wife and kid, then he was told to keep his mouth shut or bugger off, he probably did decide to bugger off, and quite rightly doesn't want to keep quiet. Who knows?

Would you have been happy to give clicks to racist content in a different publication?

Bacibaci · 18/09/2022 19:00

That only works if Charlotte and Louis complete their families before Charles dies. If new LPs are issued saying grandchildren don't get HRHs, it would mean only George and his children were entitled to HRHs after William is crowned.

Yes, exactly, this is how the Norwegian and Swedish do it and the Swedish monarch only made this change in 2019. The children of the first born child of the monarch will get titles and that will carry on down the generations.

LondonWolf · 18/09/2022 19:18

Actually I think for H&M it mostly is tbh. Mainly with regards to their security costs, which I am sure are eye watering. Seems it was only when KC stopped financially supporting them that the anger, resentment and pain around childhood experiences became too much to bear and needed to be expressed long, loud and publicly. I think Harry had a huge shock once he realised what being "out" actually meant and how expensive it would be.

I’m talking about the media. I like many people have no personal interest in H&M, they’re just calling the RF on their shit.

IrisVersicolor · 18/09/2022 20:10

It’s an interesting slightly childish mindset to think that anyone who stands up for a person must be a ‘fan’. I’m not a fan of anyone in the picture, I don’t like to see people bullied. I would stand up for anyone I thought they were being unduly, maliciously targeted.

There are all sorts of cranks on SM being foul about H&M and there's justified criticism of their actions. I think you're lumping the two together.

Well you would say that wouldn’t you. Your criticism is justified, everyone else is bitching. Except it all looks like bitching from here.

Sunnyqueen · 18/09/2022 21:00

I found meghan nauseatingly annoying when watching Suits, when I assumed she was white, before she married Harry.
I can't stand the Daily Fail and there has definitely been racism towards her by the media and that is awful.
That doesnt mean she's not a fake, annoying twat though.

But there are many things I've done which are justifiably open to criticism. I have regrets and should have done things differently. Every human being on earth is the same. I'm not a saint. Are you? H&M are not saints but they attempt to portray themselves as such. They've caused pain to their family. And for what?
