And withdraw his book?

A rapprochement looks possible if he meets the RF halfway.

I don't think it's a problem them doing podcasts about unrelated subjects, she has a really lovely voice and knows some cool people. It's just the constantly seeming to exploit their RF connections, even though they apparently have left - maybe they think they are owed for being treated badly?

A580Hojas · 17/09/2022 18:11

I think it's likely that M suffered ppd which is not uncommon but an absolutely awful thing to go through. It's a terrible shame she felt unsupported but equally would she have wanted publicity around it?

I do not think she was "chased out of the country due to racism". I honestly don't. I think she decided royal life was not for her and quite wisely spoke to her husband about taking a different path, and luckily he agreed, and off they went with a lot of public support and understanding. Including from the family.

It's just all gone a bit bad since then. How anyone can think that some people currently having feelings against them has nothing to do with their very public life since then is nothing to do with THE TWO OF THEM AS A COUPLE AND NOT JUST MEGHAN, I really cannot fathom.

I was all for them until Oprah. Now I wish them no ill will but want them to stop with the publicity-seeking. Am I racist? Don't insult me.

If you put words in quote marks you might want to get the quote right.

BlueRidge · 17/09/2022 18:23

@IrisVersicolor "Not invited to the state reception. It’s all so snippy."

Why would they be invited to a state reception? They are not working royals.

MoChridhe · 17/09/2022 18:26

No way 4 billion people are going to watch the funeral. More like 40 million. No one I know will be watching.

generalh · 17/09/2022 18:31

No.

hopeishere · 17/09/2022 18:33

The thing tomorrow is baffling. How can the palace mess things like that up?? Given how fragile relationships are you would think they would check and double check everything.

To be fair, there's 7 billion people in the world beyond your friends and family. If the the thing is running for hours, people might dip in and out, see what it's all about. It will be more than 40 million.

Rapidtango · 17/09/2022 18:42

I think there might be a few more than 40 million Grin

They do not behave like a normal family. It is all about protocol than behaving like a parent who loves their children.

Because they’re family and H’s grandmother just died?

Is Andy a working royal? No he’s just a nonce.

That really made me laugh Grin

A580Hojas · 17/09/2022 18:53

"The world sees the first British royal to marry a mixed race woman being chased out of the country and frozen out at a funeral"

Is that better Iris? What is your point about race in that sentence?

God knows I'm a pedant but when you are reduced to pedantry to crush someone's comment it doesn't make you (one) want to engage.

Roussette · 17/09/2022 16:08

I just don't know what to think. It was unfortunate footage and the most my DH would be doing is touching a shoulder or the small of a back with our adult DDs. But I do think they are a touchy feely family if what they say is anything to go by. I am, my DH not so much

I am far more concerned at him ingratiating himself back into the family and Charles letting him do royal duties

After the funeral I do not want to see his face ever again to be honest

It is definitely uncomfortable footage to watch, but his daughters are clearly very fond of him, so I think it was probably a mixture of keeping his balance and camera angles.

@A580Hojas PPD, as in paranoid personality disorder? what are you basing this diagnosis on?
Also, I think it is considered very uncommon, it is usually considered relatively rare, between 4% and 0.4% of the US population. All personality disorders are very rare really, people may have tendencies towards one disposition or another, but to meet the threshold of personality disordered the symptoms typically need to be persistent over time and be moderate-severe.

What’s interesting is that Diana was also “diagnosed” with a personality disorder. Borderline personality disorder, again much discussed but still quite rare. I’m sure she would have been accused of paranoia too if that letter where she said that she thought Charles was planning a car accident to kill her had come to light during her life time. Diana did definitely suffer with bulimia, as did Sarah Ferguson, and Kate Middleton has also been said to be bulimic.

Interestingly none of the royal men seem to get pegged as having diagnosable disordered personalities, despite being known for emotional outbursts and losing their temper. They have each been accused of worse as well.

I wonder if maybe there’s something about being a royal wife which leads to symptoms that mimic personality disorders?

With all due respect, that's not exactly evidence.

ThickCutSteakChips · 17/09/2022 19:00

Wow, you must know a hell of a lot of people! Grin

Maireas · 17/09/2022 19:00

Although I can see the other points of view, it's really not fair to say that Meghan has been frozen out of the funeral, or that they as a couple aren't allowed to take part.
The only thing they're not part of is the dignitaries reception, but the only grandchild attending that is William. Oh, and Andrew isn't going either.

A580Hojas · 17/09/2022 19:00

No, by ppd I very obviously mean post partum depression. Another post scraping the barrel of pedantry.

Murdoch1949 · 17/09/2022 19:06

The RF had the opportunity to defend and support the Sussexes when they were under siege from the vile UK press. They told the Sussexes to suck it up, even though they made the same error with Princess Diana. The Sussexes left the UK, had their HRH and charity patronages removed, Harry lost his military posts, which was unnecessary and cruel. The Sussexes were willing to split their lives between UK and USA, but that was rejected. The RF is antiquated, poorly advised by men in suits, and brought this on themselves. They continue to do it, with the Sussexes being first invited then de-invited to the Commonwealth heads dinner tomorrow - WHY? Rudeness personified. The Sussexes will continue to be successful, and Kate will continue to be jealous of Meghan. Remember, Meghan worked, actually had a job, can deliver thoughtful speeches with great poise. If Kate was more welcoming to Meghan, things would have been different, ignoring the birth of Archie for days was weird, rude and unnecessary to someone who had relocated her life to the UK. Kate didn't take her children to meet their cousin either. Kate & William encouraged the rift, because of jealousy, they know the other couple have the charisma they lack. Now they are trying to copy them, too little too late.

BlueRidge · 17/09/2022 19:10

@Murdoch1949 That piece of fiction you just posted was almost amusing.
