To think Prince Harry should now do whatever it takes to cancel his book contract?

And withdraw his book?

A rapprochement looks possible if he meets the RF halfway.

Or, they're a tactile family he bent down then moved his hand away.

I think they're in a pickle. None of their endeavours seem that successful. They're jumping from issue to issue. They "broke free" but pick at the past constantly.

If I was C I would ask them are they happy? If they are then can they please stop slagging off their family. If they're not then what can he do to help? Maybe revisit the half in / half out model. Let them live where they want but do some Royal stuff. And buy them out of the book contract.

NY Times number one bestselling book, number one podcast in countries around the world, hundred million dollar Netflix deal, invited to give talks at the UN, invited to chair and co-organise huge events like Vax Live, rubbing shoulders with world leaders.

Outside of the insignificant bubble that is the UK, they're doing fine.

Maybe Meghan and Harry are just a tactile couple? 🤪

So it's cool for some families to be "tactile"?

And yet Prince Andrew stroking his DDs arse was barely mentioned, and those that did mention it were screamed at for criticising him 'comforting his DD' 🤪

I thought that was quite likely a piece of gratuitous Twitter spite - no matter how awful Andrew is that site is repulsive - and that its users were probably engaging in a bad-taste joke at the Windsors' expense at a tough time for them.

Then I actually watched the footage, and it made seriously discomfiting, disturbing viewing. His action mirrors exactly the kind of 'plausible deniability' tactics used by predatory men who are too free with their hands and want you to be unsure that what they just did, is actually what they just did.

He is repellent. And even allowing for the plausible deniability element, with his recent track record you'd think he'd be more mindful of the optics. He did this, in plain sight, in front of the world's media.

He is seriously fucking grim. People are busting a gasket over Meghan and Harry holding hands, yet are willing to let that fly?

Lesserspotteddogfish · 17/09/2022 16:47

Yes, he should but probably won’t for financial reason and “up yours” to the palace officials reasons.

Perhaps you're so angry because no one wants to hold your hand?

Grin reminded of my young teen doing bantz with their friends by this.

Reminds me of the Beatles lyrics “ I wanna hold your Haaaaaaand/ I wanna hold your haaaaaaand/ I wanna hold your HaaaaaaaaND
I wanna hold your Ha- ha- ha-ha-HAND”

😂

Some people on here are talking as if Harry and Meghan were Che Guevara and Rosa Luxemburg, not a couple of vapid, sub-Kardashian influencers who were perfectly happy with the iniquities and inequalities of the monarchy when it was to their advantage.

I imagine the ghost writer and the editors are working overtime on rewrites at the moment.

BlueRidge · 17/09/2022 17:12

"It appears racist when the Tindalls also held hands and no-one criticised them for it."
Yes they did! I, along with many other posters on these threads did, for a start.
I have long since had an issue with public figures constantly holding hands - the Clintons (when Bill was in trouble for infidelity and even they couldn't quite bring it off as they had to have Chelsea in between them), British political couples at party conferences, the Trumps (when it's quite clear Melania can't abide him).
I just personally have a problem with it when it's usually to make some sort of statement for the cameras and is nothing to do with affection or needing support.
But according to some of you, I'm racist?

WanderingDreamingSpires · 17/09/2022 17:16

Kate got utter shit when they first got together, it went on for years. Remember all that Waity Katie stuff and the ‘why doesn’t she get a job’ rubbish? Diana and Fergie were hounded too, it’s because sections of our press are feral and vile.

I really liked Meghan, I thought she was a breath of fresh air and after seeming so lost for most of his life, Harry finally seemed happy. But she clearly never had any understanding of/intention of trying to be a royal woman. After that interview where they threw a load of patently disprovable lies and awful allegations that the royal family can’t address without it getting into a public slanging match…..not so much. Who does that to their brother and father, says such terrible things in public?

Chickens are coming home to roost though, they are only relevant if they have juicy gossip about the RF (who will never speak to them without witnesses again) I can’t see anymore fat cheques being written for the benefit of Meghan’s ramblings on female empowerment. So they’ll either have to diversify into getting actual jobs or come crawling back.

PotatoHammock · 17/09/2022 17:17

This doesn't feel like a "family pulling together" occasion. It just highlights how inhumanely poor Harry was treated at Diana's funeral.

I'm not a big Meghan fan (she's free to live her life however she wants, but I don't have much patience for listening to her bitch and moan about it) but seeing her holding his hand this week, and then remembering him at 12 years old without his dad, or his brother, or even his uncle, holding his hand, has broken my heart.

I can't believe that this past week has made him feel any more positively towards his family.

BlueRidge · 17/09/2022 17:18

@Sheenqueen , "However, in actual impact and interest, the world over have been far more interested in the younger brother and his wife."

Out of interest, who is it that dignitaries all over the world are coming to the UK to see this weekend? I don't think that the estimated 4 billion people who will be watching the Queen's funeral on Monday are doing it to see Harry and Meghan.

I should think it must stick in the craw of the many republicans on these threads to see the high regard of millions world-wide towards the Queen and the Royal Family that is being shown currently (and during the recent Jubilee celebrations). I can't think of anyone else on the planet who would warrant 24 hour long queues for people to pay their respects.

You're probably right. I don't think Harry has made very good decisions these past few years (!) but it's still desperately sad to watch it all playing out. And I know Harry was never very close to Charles, but he was so close to William and also to Kate, and their children.

IrisVersicolor · 17/09/2022 17:34

I wonder if the royal family have considered the optics of their current treatment of M&H.

The world sees the first British royal to marry a mixed race woman being chased out of the country and frozen out at a funeral.

Royalists can whine all they like, but H&M haven’t befriended and defended paedophiles as have Andy and Charles, taken a million quid donation from relatives of Bin Laden against advice, accepted bags containing millions of Euros in cash from a Qatari politician, sold their house for way over its market value to a dodgy Kazakhstani billionaire in an apparent money laundering scam etc.

There is a vast difference to the respect shown to a 96 year old who grafted for country all her life, well beyond retirement age, whose family stayed in London during the war to benefit morale, who has never put a foot wrong in public service - and the rest of’ em whom no-one beyond some enthusiastic Americans gives a shiny shit about.

hopeishere · 17/09/2022 17:38

The world sees the first British royal to marry a mixed race woman being chased out of the country and frozen out at a funeral.

Or people who chose to leave as opposed to being chased out?

How are they being frozen out of the funeral?

BlueRidge · 17/09/2022 17:55

"The world sees the first British royal to marry a mixed race woman being chased out of the country and frozen out at a funeral."

No, YOU see that. The world will view things through their own lens, to coin a "Meghan" phrase.
How is Meghan being frozen out at this funeral? You know, bearing in mind it's not (or at least it shouldn't be) about her at all?

J0y · 17/09/2022 18:02

They are only human. She trashed them on TV and there are more books/podcasts to come.
I bet Sophie talked about the weather for an hour in the back of that car.
Is any family going to warmly embrace a family member who trashed them SO publicly and talks about forgiving them!!

They were forced to leave due to the extent of the bullying.

Not invited to the state reception. It’s all so snippy.

ThickCutSteakChips · 17/09/2022 18:07

Tbh, I'm stunned there is another 'big reveal' in the pipeline. Is this just going to be what they do now, spill the tea every few months for cash?

What's wrong with the podcasts? Have you listened to them? They've been well received.

This is spot on.

That footage actually made me shudder, and PA is sickmaking.
