And withdraw his book?

A rapprochement looks possible if he meets the RF halfway.

His mother also manipulated people to get her own way....maybe she faked accounts of her suicide attempts (throwing herself down the stairs was one of those accounts made public). Diana also did an interview that trashed "the firm" yet people still thought she was a living, breathing saint.

I find it very wrong for people to discount or disbelieve those who struggle with suicidal thoughts. Calling it 'fake' and 'manipulating' is really quite shocking to me
No wonder there's a stigma attached to suicide

I agree with you. That's really very distressing. People need to be able to get help without judgement.

The press were AWFUL to Fergie. And how many times did we see embarrassing pictures of ‘Shy Di’ and ‘waitey Katie’ in the early days? The press always comes for the incomers. I personally haven’t seen anything racist, but they would have given a hard time to anyone because it sells papers, unfortunately.
I thought Meghan was a breath of fresh air. I thought she was exactly what the royals needed: poised, beautiful, intelligent, articulate…But, sadly, I find her very insincere and that interview with Oprah was a car crash. And I think Harry was the most relatable royal - but that is long lost now.

I agree with all of this.

That’s just what white people say when a poc flags racism and they don’t like it.

And I’m not sure how ‘genuine’ criticism of a person you’ve never met can be.

TheFairyCaravan · 17/09/2022 13:16

Angela Levin accused Meghan of “eating like a chimp.” There’s zero racism there, is there? I mean she says it about Kate all the time. The woman is so utterly hateful about Meghan, yet when she was asked why, by Vanessa Feltz, she said she didn’t have to justify herself.

Last week she tweeted that Harry & Meghan were only doing the walk about because William found out they planned to do one with a Netflix crew. That was dismissed the next day. Was it retracted? Was it heck!

It wouldn’t matter if Harry withdrew the book, people would still find fault because that’s what they thrive on. What was it Meghan said? Even when she was nowhere, she was everywhere and that’s very true.

To think Prince Harry should now do whatever it takes to cancel his book contract?
IrisVersicolor · 17/09/2022 13:17

What is real racism? It generally means the really overt obvious stuff so crass that no-one can argue with it; and also the stuff that’s not inconvenient. If it takes the form of subtle sly attitudes, micro-aggressions, anything that can be plausibly denied, well that’s ripe for minimisation and dismissal.

To me dividing between racism you will accept and racism you what the poc has to say about it is highly problematic.

J0y · 17/09/2022 13:18

Criticism of the hand holding is racist?? oh seriously. It breaches protocol. Harry knows this. It makes them look 15, and insecure, and Harry has on occasion pulled his hand away so body language watchers are sure to be all over it commenting.

Maireas · 17/09/2022 13:20

That was the Ellen skit.
Ellen told her to eat like a chipmunk not a chimpanzee.

Should say: between racism you will accept and racism you won’t despite what the poc has to say about it

We’ve all become a bit unhinged really. At the end of the day how would this book being published directly affect any one of us individually? What hurt will it cause us? If it hurts the Royal Family that is their hurt and sorrow to bear. I’m pretty sure they will give no fucks that people are outraged on their behalf. It won’t make their pain any less. They are a family like any other family at the bones of it all. This public fascination with perfection and observance of archaic protocols and rituals shows us up as ignorant serfs. Yes, I know I don’t have to read these types of threads, yes I know I don’t have to post if I don’t want to, but damn, the levels of toxicity on MN these days is through the roof.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

HRTQueen · 17/09/2022 13:28

I agree the women that come into the royal family are hugely scrutinised but add that with racism too and certain areas of the press went into overdrive it’s absolutely shameful to our country not that Harry and Megan have called this out that it has happened at all

how is such racism deemed acceptable in our society now in this day

neither is acceptable to be under such scrutiny but Megan was never going to be accepted by many simply because she is not white. Of course many will claim it’s x y or z they don’t like her (having never met her and been feed by the media) will be made but fact it many people still hold racist views in this country and this has played out in the most despicable and spiteful way

for those feeling sorry for themselves becuase they have been accused of being racist as they don’t like Megan just take a step back and think how it feels that you are judged and not accepted simply because of your skin colour

Yeah! Chimp and chipmunk are easily confused, I do it all the time.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 17/09/2022 13:33

There are no more futile words in the English language than 'if' and 'should'.

So are you saying we should all love her because she's bi-racial?

Dinoteeth · 17/09/2022 13:40

What did they mainstream press say about her?

I can't think of any headlines with anything equivalent to Duchess of Pork?

Could you imagine the uproar if they'd said anything like that about Meghan?

So Zara and the York girls were breaching protocol as well, were they?

Where's all the outrage over them holding their husband's hands?

Yes they were breaching protocol and looked bloody silly

TheWheeledAvenger · 17/09/2022 13:53

Reminder that a black poster once had the N word shouted at her in an anti-Meghan thread (typed out in all caps, which means shouting) and not one person reported it to try to get it removed before the black poster saw it. Not one person posted to say it's unacceptable language. It was up for hours before it was finally reported. Dozens of anti-Meghan posters saw it and decided not to report or condemn it.

Anti-Meghan posters semi-regularly report on what certain other forums and sites are saying about Meghan and those other forums are ones where Meghan is frequently called monkey, N word, and worse.

There are obviously posters here who are comfortable with black women being called the N word. At a bare minimum, that is racism.

HRTQueen · 17/09/2022 13:58

ajandjjmum · 17/09/2022 13:35

I have no idea how you have come to that conclusion ajandjjmum

lemmein · 17/09/2022 13:59

It's weird how the people that hate her seem to know everything about her; why do you actively consume so much media about a person you despise?

Y'know on the Britains Got Talent (bear with me on this tangent) before they go to live shows, they separate the different acts into groups to let them know their fate? And as a viewer you can look at the individual acts within the group and guess if they've got through or not? If you find yourself in the group with the bloke who farts Jingle Bells you're probably going home yeah? I use this method to decide whether I'm being an arsehole or not; I assess it on who shares my views.

So, if I'm expressing opinions which are shared by Piers Morgan, Dan Wootton, Sophie Corcoran. Angela Levin, Phillip Schofield, Katie Hopkins, Tommy Robinson, Nick Ferrari, et al, it's probably time I reflected a bit on why I think that way.

If you share the views of hateful people based on very little but media 'sources' it's maybe wise to consider why, because repeating shit you can't possibly know makes you sound ridiculous 🤷🏻‍♀️
