If so, what are your items to be included?

We're having

Cheese scones
Fruit scones
Victoria sponge
Another cake to be decided

Some form of sandwich - not sure whether to do crustless or cute mini rolls.

Fillings to be decided and hopefully get some inspiration from this thread.

Prosecco and soft drinks

sausage rolls
quiche

scones

prosecco

LouLou198 · 16/09/2022 16:13

Yes we are.
Ham and tuna sandwiches, scones and clotted cream scones, mini rolls for dc and posh crisps.

nachoavocado · 16/09/2022 16:16

No but I am getting in some cake and nice tea bags

ellyoctober · 16/09/2022 16:17

I'm sure the Queen would be very disappointed at the flagrant misuse of AIBU.

Is this what people are doing!

We’re having a picnic, sausage rolls and butternut squash soup.

Jericha · 16/09/2022 16:20

Yes! Just a little one. We've got fruit scones, clotted cream, jam, lemon curd. I'm going to make some sausage rolls. Some nice Rosemary focaccia and I'm probably going to do some tuna and red onion sandwiches.

BashfulClam · 16/09/2022 16:21

Was thinking of this. A British cream tea in honour of Her Majesty 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇬🇧

Nadal · 16/09/2022 16:23

I like this idea!!!

Andromachehadabadday · 16/09/2022 16:23

Well I have dd and 3 of her friends round. They want to watch it. I was going to watch alone, but that ship has sailed. They are 18 and would love afternoon tea. So now I am definitely doing that!

Thanks for the idea

Longdistance · 16/09/2022 16:23

Yes!
Scones with clotted cream and jam.
Homemade sausage rolls.
Homemade bread with cheeses and cold cuts and salad.
Sponge cake.
Copious amounts of tea.
Pinky in the air.

ILikeHotWaterBottles · 16/09/2022 16:34

Ooh good idea. I'm gonna do this now. Nothing very fancy but just something different.

Biscuit

If I worded it

AIBU to have afternoon tea during the queens funeral?

Do you think she'd approve Biscuit

Hadn't thought about it but it seems like a good idea!

Somethingsnappy · 16/09/2022 16:37

Nice idea! I like the pp's idea of a picnic even more 😎

LizzieSiddal · 16/09/2022 16:39

Yes a small one.
I’m doing homemade scones, clotted cream and jam and egg/ham/cucumber sandwiches (with crusts cut off). Will also have some nibbles.

Darkness22 · 16/09/2022 16:47

Yes! Completely against the monarchy, but doing it for the kids.

crackersforcrackers · 16/09/2022 17:00

We're eating like the queen on Monday so:
Breakfast- Special K (berry variety) with a cuppa
Lunch- Gleneagles Pate with toast and thinly sliced cucumber
Dinner- Gaelic steak with whiskey sauce followed by 'chocolate perfection pie'
(This is what I found according to Google Grin)

Approve with Crown Jewels on!

AceofPentacles · 16/09/2022 17:03

I'm baking a Victoria sponge and will make cucumber sandwiches - just for me though, no one else wants to play

Joystir59 · 16/09/2022 17:06

I will be watching on my own, and am going to buy some cake.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 16/09/2022 17:07

We are but a heads up to anyone not shopped yet, our Sainsburys we’re out of every type of cream this morning. Got some in Tesco express but not much left there either.

bare · 16/09/2022 17:20

There was a woman trying to buy Dubonnet in Waitrose today 😂 bet that was for Monday

Beansycheese · 16/09/2022 17:24

I sent my brother who lives opposite to Waitrose for dubonnet. He came back with a puppy Confused

blondie87 · 16/09/2022 17:26

Thanks for this; great idea!

PolkaDotMankini · 16/09/2022 17:28

Yes. DD is having afternoon tea with her friends and planning a lot of baking over the weekend. They're all contributing so we're making scones and a chocolate biscuit bake (apparently the Queen's favourite).
