To be impressed that Holly and Phil queued to see the Queen

I saw on the news today that they both paid their respects. I know MPs got tickets to jump the queue which is fair enough given how busy they are running the country, but obviously run of the mills celebrities don't get that sort of treatment. We haven't seen many celebrities actually pay tribute given they wouldn't want to queue so long, so I was quite touched to see the picture of them walking through. True British gems.

I imagine there are a host of famous people who are desperate to see her. Helena Bonham Carter is another that springs to mind.

Surely it's a good thing they were in the 'Very Special TV People' line? Imagine being stuck in a queue for eight hours with them...I think they should be thanked for sparing some random people that 'privilege'. 😁

It’s a misuse of a journalist pass. They’re not journalists, they’re not press. Most people would accept that an actual news reporter or news journalist may get a fast pass but they are neither. They are tv presenters. I assume they weren’t actually presenting a This Morning segment from the hall so they weren’t working. They don’t need to have gone there to be able to talk about it. Or they could queue if they felt they they did need to be there, they don’t work weekends or I think Fridays so plenty of free time.

I can't stand Phil and Holly, but it's perfectly sensible for journalists and presenters to have their own queue. Anyone on print or TV media reflecting on the ten days is absolutely run of their feet. They were there to do a job, and they couldn't be not working for ten hours or more. The organisers of the Lying in State recognise that by having different queues.

It's not queue.jumping, it's being directed to a different queue depending on why you're there.

Of course if they pretended that it was The Big Queue, then they're horrible liars.

Imagine deciding to queue to see the coffin for whatever reason and turning round and see that David Beckham has joined just behind you.

They're not celebrities just mearly television presenters. Unfortunately the media likes to put anyone who appears on TV and a few magazines are celebrities.
Nice of them to pay their respects but why make a public exhibition of it, they are normal people and should queue like anyone else.

David Beckham has just been through in The Queue, no VIP no airs or graces. But was stopped first in the queue for guard changeover.

I clicked onto the live stream for the first time and the camera was on him!

Thought he looked rather emotional.

Susanna Reid and her mum queued for 7 hours with the majority.
I'm guessing she could have pulled a few strings - but chose not to.

Phil and Holly are reportedly doing a segment on Tuesday about the Queen's death, and that is why they were there and flashed their press pass. Holly was wearing a mask in order for people to praise her for trying to be incognito… Phil wasn't wearing a mask in order for people to be able to recognise Holly.

you should know damn well Phil and Holly didn’t take one step into the public queue. They got fast tracked in.

Really? I'll admit Huw Edwards has probably had a mad couple of days but how have Holly and Phils jobs changed? They don't do their own research, it's all done for them.

They also weren't there to do a job - they weren't presenting from there. It's got nothing to do with their actual jobs.

Even normal journos can't be working that hard - lots of the stories they've been using have been pre written for years and if they are live covering things at least it's all central in a few specific places - they're not covering their normal stories that usually have them rushing all over their patch.

And apart from all that...I'm sure the nurses, doctors, police officers etc in the big queue have also had very busy days but nobody is making exceptions for them!

PR gold for Beckham particularly when you have come under intense criticism for his unquestioning highly paid promotion of the Quatar World Cup worth 15 million. Old cynic that I am.

They will have still made it all about them which is fairly impressive considering what they were doing.
