Do women really age worse than men?

I just read a novel where the protagonist thinks at one point how women age worse than men, and it took me back to a couple of boyfriends in the nineties saying that as if it were just something that everyone knows. I was really surprised that anyone would think the sex that goes bald ages better. Do any women think men age better than women?
YABU: yes, women age (physically) worse than men do.
YANBU: no, men as a class age just as badly as women.

I’m a mid-40s man with a face that looks like a bag of nails that’s had another bag of nails repeatedly dropped on it from some height, but I still get checked out regularly walking down the high street.
Oh, hang on, that’s my reflection checking me out. But, you know, whatever, attention is still attention, sometimes you just have to do it yourself. Luckily my wife is a woman with low standards and poor taste in men, so… win-win!

Oh yes, after getting attention of any sort on Mumsnet, that's his other favourite thing. Hubba hubba.

Too bad I’m not a silver fox like he is, so I guess I’m stuck with my old stick of a mrs.

Oh rilly? What kind of multitude are we talking about here?

The usual signs of aging you'd expect in an older man. It's not men looking less than perfect that's the problem. It's the arrogance of those who haven't realised.

Women spend a lot of money and effort to reverse the ageing process. Botox, fillers, skin care regimes, extensive make up etc.

Both genders can work out and watch what they eat etc to keep their weight down. Not a lot a balding man can do about hair loss. Wear a wig? That's about the equivalent of a face full of make up but men just tend to let themselves go more.

I think children can age women. My DD has aged me! I won’t be the same as physically and my body shape has changed slightly. But if no kids, healthy etc women can age better than men in lots ways. And I’m sure there are some women who age beautifully with lots of kids. But I do think it’s rarer
