Do women really age worse than men?

I just read a novel where the protagonist thinks at one point how women age worse than men, and it took me back to a couple of boyfriends in the nineties saying that as if it were just something that everyone knows. I was really surprised that anyone would think the sex that goes bald ages better. Do any women think men age better than women?
YABU: yes, women age (physically) worse than men do.
YANBU: no, men as a class age just as badly as women.

It's their choice, they're both consenting adults. But personally, I'd be creeped out knowing that my spouse was essentially waiting for me to die so they can get on with their life - because that's the reality of their situation!
I am aware it is their choice and the relationship is clearly transactional. I just wonder whether he's aware of that.

I'm not so sure when you have posters on this thread boasting about their younger partners. Lots of (old) men seem to feel entitled to young women.

I hugely doubt anyone in their right mind is jealous of women who are from such economically disadvantaged countries that they wind up marrying and sleeping with men who must physically repulse them.

I think it's a load of rubbish ... me and dp are same age but he looks miles older, I can't think of one single girl friend who doesn't look way better than her dp/dh (were in late 20's to late 30's bracket)... was only recently chatting to fiends about this and we all agreed most the men we knew/know from ex boyfriends to teenage crushes all went swiftly downhill after bout 27 (greying, balding, beer bellies, guts with skinny arms) have a nosey on fb at some of the men from your past you once thought was attractive and I guarantee they might still have beautiful eyes or cheeky grin but their a long way off their prime... I think men just get very comfortable, and most do buy into the "men age better" by law of nature bs thinking themselves the next Clooney... while us women have always been fed the opposite so we take better care of ourselves, I've been using anti aging potions/creams/treatments since I was 20, my weight is the same since I was 16, I never leave the house without sunscreen... I'm in my 30's and still get asked for I.d for alcohol or going into clubs, my partner says he feels like people look at him weird when he's with me. Was chatting nurse last week during dc vaccinations I mentioned I had 3 children altogether, she was floored I had a 13 year old said I barely look 20, my dp often says he feels like a perv when he's out with me because he looks so much older.... Jesus this sounds fucking smug and conceited thats not the message I'm trying to get across but I honestly don't know were the idea that women age worse comes from at all, I remember going shop with my mum when I was about 10 she was buying cigarettes and was asked for I.d she argued with the man behind the counter but we ended up having to walk home and get her I.d and walk back again, she was 32 but she always took care of herself. I always thought my friends mums look way younger than there dad's lol, I was convinced my dad's sister was younger than him for years (come from a large family of 13, I still don't actually know the order of age for them all) but she's actually 7 years older, in 50s now and still looks amazing bigger shock was learning her husband is my dad's age so she's older but he looks a good 10 years older than her
