Absolutely - especially roast lamb

MintyGreenDreams · 12/09/2022 20:21

Yes

willstarttomorrow · 12/09/2022 20:23

I love peas, they add texture and colour and you can cook them in lots of different ways. They certainly are not out of place with roast dinner. Sweetcorn and cauliflower cheese however........

itsgettingweird · 12/09/2022 20:23

My ds says yes. He loves peas.

I say no - I hate them!

But absolutely anyone o know who likes peas will happily have the, with a roast dinner.

MadeForThis · 12/09/2022 20:25

Garden peas - yes
Mushy peas - NO

BamBamBilla · 12/09/2022 20:28

Only if we've run out of all other vegetables.

loveisanopensore · 12/09/2022 20:29

Had peas with a roast chicken yesterday.

They tend to get shoved into lots of things though. Green things my kids will eat.

PoseyFlump · 12/09/2022 20:30

God no, what is wrong with you people?!

As pp said, peas are for lazy dinners.

nomoreflyingfucks · 12/09/2022 20:38

Chicken, lamb nut roast abso bloody lutely
Beef no
Turkey no
Pheasant yes
Guinea fowl yes
Venison no
Rabbit no
Baked fish yes
Hog roast no
Pork with crackling no
Boiled ham in a cider mustard sauce yes!

pumpkinfan · 12/09/2022 20:38

No. Well, only if desperate with no other options. I wouldn't forgo a roast because we only had peas. But I would be disappointed at their presence where they don't belong.

RedRobyn2021 · 12/09/2022 20:40

Peas seem lazy, roasts are about effort. Roast parsnips... carrot and swede

MarshaMelrose · 12/09/2022 20:41

Yes. I love all veg so I'm happy with whatevers on my plate, especially if I'm not cooking it.

KiraKiraHikaru · 12/09/2022 20:41

We’re not talking about just peas with the roast…. We go all out on roasts and do most veg but I like peas and my husband absolutely forbids them 🤣 he’s a chef so feels he gets the final day.

userxx · 12/09/2022 20:41

Of course, the gravy gels them together, so much easier to eat.

k1233 · 12/09/2022 20:41

I tend to only make roast lamb and that is lovely with peas. I only buy baby peas as the big ones are yuck. Baby peas are lovely. I think most people over cook veges. Baby peas are done as soon as the water starts to boil.

So I'm a yes for baby peas with roast.

Always4Brenner · 12/09/2022 20:42

Yes even better it proper mushy peas love them.

washingbasketqueen · 12/09/2022 20:47

No peas on a for us and I don't think I've ever been served them in a restaurant.

Craftybodger · 12/09/2022 20:48

Petit pois and mange toutes, both on our plates with a roast.

Glitterspy · 12/09/2022 20:49

Peas and carrots jumbled together. Mainly for the kids…

KiraKiraHikaru · 12/09/2022 20:50

washingbasketqueen · 12/09/2022 20:47

No peas on a for us and I don't think I've ever been served them in a restaurant.

Maybe it’s another regional thing? Like mash up north? Every carvery I’ve ever been to has had peas.

OP posts:
SuspiciousBanana · 12/09/2022 20:51

I put them in macaroni cheese! I know. I’m an animal.

FinallyHere · 12/09/2022 20:53

We both accommodate each other's likes and dislikes by adjustments. I wouldn't think twice about cooking a portion of peas in the microwave if I particularly fancied them.

LairyMcClairy · 12/09/2022 21:00

How do people make the veg on a roast a bit less boring? I’m not great at doing anything other than boiled or roasted veg- any inspiration most welcome.

Back to the actual point- no peas on roasts in our house as 3 out of 4 of us don’t like them.

Stravaig · 12/09/2022 21:02

KiraKiraHikaru · 12/09/2022 19:44

The no person likes peas but will not accept them as being part of a roast dinner

The second part is right, however liking peas at all is so horribly misguided that I'm afraid you'll have to stay married, else you'll be letting two single pea-lovers loose among the wider population.

browneyes77 · 12/09/2022 21:03

Veg I allow on a roast:

  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Carrots
  • Sprouts
  • Cabbage
And at a push, runner beans

I mean pop on whatever floats your boat really, but I wouldn’t generally choose peas.
