I always do peas with a roast, alongside two or three different veg. My 11 yo will only eat peas 🤷🏻‍♀️

Peas should never be on any plate, they are the devils food.

Even the devil has to draw a line somewhere!

gogohmm · 12/09/2022 19:58

Never on any plate because they are horrible! Green beans, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, carrots and parsnips are the "correct" comboGrin

Epicstorm · 12/09/2022 19:58

When I was little

RagingWoke · 12/09/2022 19:59

Yes! I love peas, garden are my pea of choice. But I also have Yorkshire puddings with Christmas dinner so not afraid to rebel against roast rules

ThirtyThreeTrees · 12/09/2022 19:59

No - a roast is the best version of dinner.

Tasty meat, flavorsome potatoes, nice trimming. Peas are just too ordinary to make the plate.

Peas go with effortless, lazy dinner or mushy peas with fish but a roast deserves better vegetables than peas.

Nagado · 12/09/2022 20:00

I prefer sweetcorn, but peas will do at a push.

strawberry2017 · 12/09/2022 20:03

@RagingWoke I can't believe there are people who don't have Yorkshire puddings at Christmas! They are my favourite bit!

This - green evil balls.
If you like peas then of course no issue.

MarieInternette · 12/09/2022 20:08

Always peas. Done like my mother does, dried marrowfat peas steeped the night before in bicarbonate of soda and cooked until almost mushy.

FinallyHere · 12/09/2022 20:08

will not accept them as being part of a roast dinner

Are they doing the cooking? Do they get their own plate?

I think I can see a solution here

WhatIsThisPlease · 12/09/2022 20:09

I've never ever had peas on a roast and I do like them.

It feels wrong 🤣

Travellingwomble · 12/09/2022 20:09

If you divorce there won't be a row over who gets the peas at least. 😉

user375849372 · 12/09/2022 20:10

Yes!!

user1481837070 · 12/09/2022 20:10

Peas over sweetcorn any day!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 12/09/2022 20:11

I say no because I don’t like them. But I’m not opposed to them in principle.

SquigglePigs · 12/09/2022 20:11

Wouldn't be my first choice but wouldn't particularly object. To me peas are the "in the freezer emergency veg" for when we've run out of fresh, in a rush or can't be bothered to prep. I usually make more of an effort with the veg for a roast when there's already other prep going on.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 12/09/2022 20:12

No

Onehotmess · 12/09/2022 20:12

KiraKiraHikaru · 12/09/2022 19:44

The no person likes peas but will not accept them as being part of a roast dinner

This is the correct stance to take

PermanentTemporary · 12/09/2022 20:13

Peas are the best. Always sad when they're not on offer.

Duck with peas is a classic combo too.

FeebasAquarium · 12/09/2022 20:16

Can’t stand peas but I still cook them for everyone else plus dp only eats peas and carrots as his veg so would possibly get scurvy…

Just had roast chicken and peas- lush !

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/09/2022 20:20

I have voted no - because I don’t have peas with most roasts, but if we have gammon, or if we lash out and have lamb, those would go with peas.
