To be saddened by the behaviour of the public

In regards to the Queen’s coffin in Edinburgh. As it makes its way through the city the public have their phones out so blatantly and some with smiles on their faces.

Similarly, people shoved their phones in Charles’ face when he greeted the crowd outside Buckingham Palace.

Haven’t we lost our way a bit? Do they really need a photo or video when they should just be kind, present and respectful?

people used to take picnics to excecutions. I don’t think there’s been a decline, I think there was a period of history around the late 1800-early 1900s when being respectful was more in fashion

@LupinWoes

I think this statement:

Gross! Why would you take a picture of a COFFIN for your THREE year old?!

Was a stupid over reaction. If you can't cope with people responding to your posts, don't bother posting.

You’ve neglected to actually listen to my point and are devoid of any meaningful reason for filming a coffin! But by all means, feel free to get the last word in if it makes you feel better.

I have already said, more than once on this thread, it was so he can see the footage when he is older. He will most likely not remember being there, and it is a momentous historical occasion.

We were not in the footage. I held the phone at waist height so as to be unobtrusive. I was not looking through the screen. There is no news footage that I have since found that captured where we were. I did not post it to social media.

I understand there will be differing views. However, your statement describing that as "Gross!" and using COFFIN in caps was just bizarre - as if I had exposed him to something terrible and macabre.

I don't doubt you will come back to this statement with yet another deliberate misunderstanding of what I've said. Like I say I don't think you are posting in good faith and I don't have time to be going back and forth all day. I won't responding again.

I see there are no phone's or photography if visiting the coffin which is good!!
Hope people respect that wonder if it will weed out those that would be going for clicks and likes.

I think the hours of waiting will weed those out.

Yes I’ve just seen the protocol listed by Sky News, I hope people adhere to it - it seems they probably won’t have a choice!
