What are your thoughts on websites changing their colours to black and white in response to the Queen's death?

I'm not an ardent royalist, but I think it's a nice touch in amongst this significant event.

I've noticed some websites haven't and in a way I find it disrespectful. The Guardian hasn't bothered to do this, which isn't a surprise. But AIBU to think showing a little unity in this time wouldn't be amiss? Mumsnet hasn't done it either.

I don't give a shit either way.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 09/09/2022 21:46

Maybe their web developers weren't in today. What does it matter?

Tee20x · 09/09/2022 21:47

Couldn't care less

CaptaNoctem · 09/09/2022 21:48

Don’t care quite honestly.

RoseAndRose · 09/09/2022 21:49

It's appropriate, but not compulsory

ManateeFair · 09/09/2022 21:49

Get a fucking grip

SemperIdem · 09/09/2022 21:49

Get a grip

Ariela · 09/09/2022 21:50

I'm more annoyed by the amount of cellophane on the flowers being left....

DillDanding · 09/09/2022 21:50

I think it’s daft and unnecessary.

CaramelTwirl · 09/09/2022 21:51

I hate enforced grieving. It's as bad as enforced poppy wearing.

BogRollBOGOF · 09/09/2022 21:52

If it's a site with a royal connection, fine.

If there is no royal connection, who cares.

Banners seem to change colour monthly anyway. Shrugs.

Fairislefandango · 09/09/2022 21:53

Couldn't care less.

But anyway, people show respect by behaving respectfully, not by clicking a mouse and changing the colour ofa background on a website.

absolutelyanythingwilldo · 09/09/2022 21:58

Not bothered either way, but good grief don't read the Guardian.

j712adrian · 09/09/2022 21:59

It's incredibly interesting which organisations like to brand themselves as Royal vassals, isn't it?

No.

O11 · 09/09/2022 21:59

I'd think they had sensible people looking after their website because it's virtue signalling rubbish.

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 09/09/2022 22:01

Mumsnet don't have the technical capacity 😂 how do you have time to care about this

Mfsf · 09/09/2022 22:02

The queen won’t be lived by all , quite a few people won’t care or will even despise her . Not my feelings at all but I can understand why the exist . You should not expect everyone to feel the same as you

phishy · 09/09/2022 22:02

Good grief. Can you keep this sycophancy in the Royal family section.

WeAreAllLionesses · 09/09/2022 22:02

I work in a school and we had specific protocols that we had to adhere to - changing logo to black background, one official statement to be put on website and social media, absolutely no social media other than the statement until after the funeral, etc.

So you might think it was overkill or virtue signalling but I can assure you it was spelt out exactly what we had to do!

saraclara · 09/09/2022 22:02

I have noticed any do that, and I think it would be daft anyway. And with reference to the Guardian, I think their response has been extremely respectful. The way that each of the news items about the Queen is on a black background is sorely enough?

Jedsnewstar · 09/09/2022 22:03

You need to get a life.

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/09/2022 22:04

Seriously?

saraclara · 09/09/2022 22:06

I'm starting to think that OP is not entirely genuine. No-one could be this petty..

IMustMakeAmends · 09/09/2022 22:06

Is this why my daughter's yoto app was acting weird and then was all a black background?

limitededitionbarbie · 09/09/2022 22:07

Not bothered at all. I think it's sad but there will be enough going on to mark our Queen's passing.
