To be furious with Lloyds online banking?

Keyansier · 09/09/2022 18:09

I logged onto my internet banking with Lloyds Bank and upon signing in was greeted with a message about The Queen passing away and giving solitude to Lloyds bank customers. Erm, does anyone else think that this is slightly WTF territory? How dare they assume their customers feelings? AIBU to think banks should not be giving out political messages like this? It's okay to say if they are sorry for someone dying, I'm not expecting them to be someone's pro-death, but AIBU to think they should stay out of giving what might be seen as provocative statements like this to people that may be against the idea of the Royal Family?

Blimey OP being this furious about a tiny matter that doesn't really affect you sounds utterly exhausting! You can't live life like that, surely?!

eighteenmonthstogo · 10/09/2022 09:50

Op has a very strange defensive style for the 'professionally offended' ..

When it's pointed out that the matter she is upset with, is literally multiplied across pretty much every website.. this is refuted as 'unknown' because the OP (in a bizarrely snobbish aside) doesn't shop/eat/use the associated product.. which is a completely irrelevant statement because you do not need to purchase something in order to look at a website and familiarise yourself with their reaction to the death of the monarch..

All too strange for words .

RufusthefIoraImissingreindeer · 10/09/2022 10:23

Was so great to see that there are some intelligent free thinking individuals around.

Doubt it was anything to do with being intelligent or free thinking....

PortalooSunset · 10/09/2022 11:42

Furious 😂

Hi,

First of all: I'm a he.

Second of all: What you said doesn't make any sense. People left comments to me saying Natwest and HSBC also gave similar messages on their website: But I don't bank with them and therefore have no reason to visit their websites and so didn't know or see that, until people said so on here.

Also, how is it snobby of me to say I don't visit certain websites!? One reply specifically referenced M&S and I said I don't shop at M&S, which I don't - so why would I go onto their website for?

@Miajk
Maybe you're the idiot.
A lot of privileged idiots on this thread who don't realize that the queen might have been a positive image to some, but ask people from other countries colonized by Britain how they feel about the British monarchy.

Thank you. That was the point I was trying to make but people failed to grasp. It wasn't about disrespect to the queen on a mass level but about how some people might not want to be greeted by such a message because of what you said above ^

OP posts:
Bubblebubblebah · 10/09/2022 17:16

You failed to make that point, not that people failed to grasp it

How were any of these words in my OP failing to make the point?

If no one gets yoir point, you failed to make the point. It is simple as that

I'm sorry if you failed to grasp it, as simple as it may have been.

And re the issue around colonized countries. I have met very many immigrants in UK from first to third gen from all over the world and most actually understand it is significant and did comment in "aw shame" like everyone else.

While there are of course people who don't share that view and are not "fans", they are a minority of Lloyds customers and business will work with messages for majority since you cannot possibly make everyone happy.

Keyansier · 10/09/2022 17:29

Don't think I will reply to this any longer, the replies are bordering on ridiculous.

You remind me of that poster not so long ago who claimed to work in comms or pr and were equally insulted by no one getting their point😂

Erm, so what? Just because your experience with "many immigrants" (how rude, btw) wouldn't have an issue with the message doesn't mean all would think it's significant. Surely the most appropriate message to not piss people off either way would be to not mention it?

Have zero idea what you're talking about, don't know the thread or poster you're referring to, and have no interest in finding out, and I'm not insulted by anyone here, just perplexed that only a handful of people seem intelligent enough to get what I was saying.

Can I just ask how is that rude?

Uk business, with majority of UK customers (some business abroad but majorily home) will of course put up a message about Queen dying. I mean like. Of course

Rude to assume by saying you know a mindset of people because you "have met very many immigrants". Tbh won't respond further on this because this is not what my post was about.

Most of my mates are immigrants, most of my coworkers always were, so we talk about things liketl this, So are my husband and I btw, but thanks for being offended on our behalf. Means a lot.😁

Never understand posters who go to AIBU and then argue for days after 99% of people tell them they are being unreasonable but they just won't accept it

If you don't want to be told you are wrong or ridiculous don't come to AIBU
