To be furious with Lloyds online banking?

I logged onto my internet banking with Lloyds Bank and upon signing in was greeted with a message about The Queen passing away and giving solitude to Lloyds bank customers. Erm, does anyone else think that this is slightly WTF territory? How dare they assume their customers feelings? AIBU to think banks should not be giving out political messages like this? It's okay to say if they are sorry for someone dying, I'm not expecting them to be someone's pro-death, but AIBU to think they should stay out of giving what might be seen as provocative statements like this to people that may be against the idea of the Royal Family?

I'm furious at you for being a knob. Move on

WhatIsThisPlease · 09/09/2022 18:22

Gosh, do you often search so hard for reasons to be offended?

Get over yourself.

I totally agree with you OP, businesses have no right to assume that you are a brainwashed bowing & scraping monarchist. It makes me sick. I did have one lovely moment today though, I went into a charity shop & they were booming out a meatloaf track. Was so great to see that there are some intelligent free thinking individuals around.

Then may I suggest that you, the OP and all the others who feel the same way find some place in the middle of nowhere and bunker down together for a couple of weeks. I've had emails from all sorts of places, Royal Shakespeare Company, the OCR exam board etc..

Twiggywinkle13 · 09/09/2022 18:23

I can’t stand the royal family, I’m absolutely a republican. It’s still sad that the Queen died. It’s not political to have that message at all.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 09/09/2022 18:21

Her face is on money. Are you furious everytime you see cash?

I wouldn’t go in a Post Office - the stamps will tip OP over the edge

Georgeskitchen · 09/09/2022 18:23

Are you crying and shaking OP?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Keyansier · 09/09/2022 18:24

I'm quite frankly astonished that nobody so far has agreed with me tbh. I thought more people would agree with my stance on this. I am a fan of the Royal Family, just thought this was out-of-touch by Lloyds.

Handbrake turn there OP😂

tenbob · 09/09/2022 18:27

Giving solitude to Lloyds customers?

Are you sure you read the message correctly?

if you did, and that’s really what it said, you are not unreasonable to think it’s a strange thing to broadcast to their customers

MrsU2022 · 09/09/2022 18:29

Damned if they do, damned if they don't

Pathetic that you've given it so much thought!

9thlife · 09/09/2022 18:30

Yes, yes yabu.
im not a fan of trf but all these moaning messages about companies doing this is offensive.

Eeiliethya · 09/09/2022 18:31

😂😂😂

Smartiepants79 · 09/09/2022 18:32

It’s fine to roll your eyes and think ‘I’m not interested’ with this kind of thing.
It does feel excessive and making assumptions about peoples feelings.
However, if this is the only thing you’ve got to be ‘furious’ about right now then you’re doing ok. Just tut at the screen and move on!!

MichelleScarn · 09/09/2022 18:36

You found this offensive?

chesirecat99 · 09/09/2022 18:36

It doesn't say anything about giving "solitude to customers" 🙄

MichelleScarn · 09/09/2022 18:37

Ooo yeah, can see how this would have you apoplectic! Or more shaking and crying? What's the current mn best?

LubaLuca · 09/09/2022 18:39

In what way was it political? I don't believe it was, but would like to know how you interpreted it.

Acheyknees · 09/09/2022 18:44

What a bizarre reaction, why would you be furious?

Soubriquet · 09/09/2022 18:45

Every company has this written somewhere on their site.

Just ignore and scroll on

Rose789 · 09/09/2022 18:46

If this causes you so much anger and distress you should really speak to someone

yanbu. They're forcing people to care, some just don't. She is the richest woman in the world, yet part of my taxes go to supporting the Royal Family. For what? All they care about is protecting their own and their wealth. They have never given a thought about the commoners, so why should we do the same for them? They are all horribly privileged. "She did so much for this country", no it's all about power and self-interest, bending rules and even directly intervening into the democratic process to make sure they retain all the land and power they can.

People need to wake up and see the propaganda perpetuated by those with power and wealth.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 09/09/2022 18:51

He face is on money? If course it’s appropriate for them to mark the Queen’s death.

EndTheMonacyNow · 09/09/2022 18:52

I find it irritating. I don't want to be told about it all the time. I'm not mourning.

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 09/09/2022 18:53

FFS this being offended because people are mourning a deeply respected woman is ridiculous.

Bully for you if you don’t give a shit, enough people do that it will deeply affect their lives. You don’t have to understand it but you do have to accept it.

spirit20 · 09/09/2022 18:56

Just logged in and I didn't get any message either. I do think it's a nice gesture though, and hardly inappropriate.
