To be furious with Lloyds online banking?

Keyansier · 09/09/2022 18:09

I logged onto my internet banking with Lloyds Bank and upon signing in was greeted with a message about The Queen passing away and giving solitude to Lloyds bank customers. Erm, does anyone else think that this is slightly WTF territory? How dare they assume their customers feelings? AIBU to think banks should not be giving out political messages like this? It's okay to say if they are sorry for someone dying, I'm not expecting them to be someone's pro-death, but AIBU to think they should stay out of giving what might be seen as provocative statements like this to people that may be against the idea of the Royal Family?

You keep claiming people are ‘missing the point’ so I’ve handily broken down your OP for us all to see those points…

No you weren’t. You saw a very standard and pretty bland message acknowledging the death of the queen. No mention of solitude, which is good because it would be very weird and a total misuse of the word

Erm, does anyone else think that this is slightly WTF territory?
see above. It’s only ‘WTF’ if you had actually seen them wishing solitude to customers. But it didn’t say that so we are so far away from WTF territory that even Ryanair wouldn’t land there…

How dare they assume their customers feelings?
You have given no evidence at ALL that they have assumed customers feelings. But given that every single tv channel, sporting event has assumed a lot of people will feel a bit sad, it’s not really a ‘how dare they’ situation here
Hell, even PornHub have assumed the wanking chimps that make up their customer base will be a bit sad, and put out a message of condolence

AIBU to think banks should not be giving out political messages like this?
Cant see any political message? Just a bland expression of sympathy at someone dying
not a single reference made to anything political at all

It's okay to say if they are sorry for someone dying
That is LITERALLY what they’ve done though. And it’s made you furious

I'm not expecting them to be someone's pro-death
Phew! That would be a very weird position for a bank to take… they wouldn’t have any customers left. Business plan FAIL!

but AIBU to think they should stay out of giving what might be seen as provocative statements like this to people that may be against the idea of the Royal Family?
can you highlight a ‘provocative’ bit of the statement please?
Many many people and institutions who not only may, but are, against the idea of the royal family have come out with statements expressing their condolences
Even Putin did!
So it’s a bit odd to think that ‘sorry someone died’ has to equal ‘we ❤️Monachies and hate everyone who is against them

Bubblebubblebah · 10/09/2022 20:21

So there was no solitude? 😂 I log in via app, forgot log in for website so wondered it is was different message

I suspect you think you're being clever with that post? Breaking down someone's posts is always going to be open to scrutiny, so that's nothing new, I suppose you also think it's clever referencing Ryanhair and Pornhub randomly?? How are either of those related to what I said?

it's always telling that someone writes so much because the response is they have little to actually say..

Don't think I will reply to this any longer, the replies are bordering on ridiculous.

you KEEP saying that and yet here you are, still wittering on…

SpinCityBlues · 10/09/2022 21:55

It's a wind-up. A fucking tedious one too.

willithappen · 10/09/2022 21:59

Tenbob actually very carefully broke down your post, nothing trying to be clever about it there

You don't seem to disagree with what they said either so I really do think it's time you take your own advice and stop replying because it seems it's going nowhere and you are unwilling to listen to anyone else

AlrightAlrightAlrightMatthewMcConaughey · 10/09/2022 22:12

I personally thought it more akin to showing off myself, actually.

It's not that I'm not listening to anyone, I have listened to all, but clearly people don't agree with me, so I'll just not respond any longer.

They actually had a lot to say and all of it was excellent. Just look at how the voting has gone, yet you still insist everybody, who doesn't agree with you, doesn't get your point. Here's a tip: it actually helps if you have a point.

This is AIBU. Traditionally if everyone responds YES YABU You concede with good grace or why ask in the first place? OK in reality a lot of ops flounce off like you if people dare to disagree with them.

tenbob · 11/09/2022 07:37

Every once in a while, I read a story about a war or one of those neighbour disputes over 12 inches of garden where they are about to lose their house because of legal bills, and think ‘how on earth did it get to this point? Surely one or both sides could compromise a bit and deescalate it and the world would be a better place’

And then I read threads like this, where an OP is so clearly wrong but the hill he wants to die on is a pop up message on a bank website.

and then I realise why the world is such a mess.

imagine living in the OPs head, where all the want is to be right, in the face of screenshots proving they are wrong, and their own words quoted back at them prove they are wrong and STILL insisting that everyone else is the problem

I can only imagine how exhausting his daily life must be to be that belligerent

tenbob · 11/09/2022 07:42

“it's always telling that someone writes so much because the response is they have little to actually say..”

Also, I’ve read and re-read this several times and it doesn’t make any sense. I can’t work out what you’re trying to say and wonder if maybe English isn’t your first language and that is why you have misread the words and tone of Lloyds post, and the got yourself into this total muddle?

So you’re not going to address any of the points made by tenbob? You don’t want to clarify how the Lloyds statement was political? Or what they said that was provocative? It’s been said already but, if you can’t defend or explain your point, you probably don’t have one.

I already have clarified what you're asking, earlier in the thread, along with another poster who explained it more eloquently than I did.

As person with English as a second/third language (depends how you look at it), I can contest it is bit weird syntax like I would do and considering overall issues putting point ahead and reading etc, it is not an offensive question but a logocal one trying to find out where all of it went wrong

Lol!

You’ve already admitted you can’t read very well, which is why you thought it said ‘solitude’ when it didn’t

And then you’ve proven you can’t write very well with a string of jibberish replies

I was being generous and giving you the benefit of the doubt that this was because English isn’t your first language, rather than because you’re just a bit thick

But you’re continuing to dig yourself deeper into this hole, so I’m going to go with ‘narcissistic with a sprinkling of not very bright’

I may have misread the words but the general message still applies.

This is you admitting that you can’t read very well so misread the Lloyds message…

tenbob · 11/09/2022 10:40

“it's always telling that someone writes so much because the response is they have little to actually say..”

This is one of your absolute jibberish posts. Makes no sense on any level, I’m afraid…

Have zero idea what you're talking about, don't know the thread or poster you're referring to, and have no interest in finding out, and I'm not insulted by anyone here, just perplexed that only a handful of people seem intelligent enough to get what I was saying.

This is a cracking example of a narcissistic response, in particular ‘I have no interest in finding out’ and ‘only a handful of people seem intelligent enough to get what I’m saying’

Please do keep digging yourself deeper into the hole though. We are all having a great laugh at you on this thread, especially the multiple times you say you are going to flounce off and stop replying and then keep on coming back to reply

The poster said I reminded them of someone else who posted something about something else - it wasn't me, I didn't post what they were referencing, hadn't and haven't read it, therefore I had no interest in looking at the thread because it wasn't related to me at all. How is that narcissistic behaviour because I didn't click a link? Especially when the post in question was said in a mocking tone in the first place.
